  • this is a very funny vidieo.

  • I sang this for my Winter concert, but we put little moves for it. It was adorable.

  • My Chorale sang this in high school :)

  • I shot the partridge -_-

  • I did this for choir at school!! We threw birds in the end<33 sooo much fun!! and we had diff hand motions(:

  • Singing*

  • 6 7 and 8 grade at my school will be siting this in our concert next week hahahaha

  • omg my schools 8th and 7th grade chorus sand this song on Wednesday in our concert omg they did better than these guys

  • This song works better as a Women's song. It doesn't fit as well with Men singing it. just my opinion. It also helps if the choir is more into as a funny with a little action in it then just simply singing on stage.

  • @brownynbaybay we did too. 0.o do you live in south Dakota x3 jk

  • we sang this in our choir concert last night!! :)

  • thumb up if CNN brought you here

  • i have nothing to say to the choir (they sounded very good in my opinion) but it was the sound quality of the video...

Ps: i love the song :)

  • This song is always great. The detractors posting here should be ashamed of themselves.

  • Wow a lot of these comments are awful. I think this choir sounded great! Recordings are NEVER as good as they sound in person; most microphones don't pick up on low tones as well as higher ones- especially at that distance. I think this was great. My college choir is doing this song and we only have 3 guys, so the verse where they are the ones with the melody might be a little sketchy...

  • Were singing this is chorus

Sound really good put togethet bt not my favorite song were doing

  • My middle school Jazz choir is doing this song. We haven't gotten to words yet and there is only 12 of us and we have more sound and better blending than this -__-

  • I am doing this song in my chorus class!!!

  • this is my song now

  • my high school choir is singing it now lol

  • My middle school choir is doing this song. I -3 it :)

  • My parents used to sing this every year at the church Christmas parties; they were FAR better than this crap choir.

  • doing this song in chorus!!!!!!!!!(:

  • I'm doing this song for my Chorus Sem. 1 class. We have more than half of the class as newcomers to choral singing and we're doing better...

  • this song sounds much cooler and funnier sung by a high school choir. especially the "actually i kept one of the drummers for my self" line

  • Wow! My chorus did this in high school...almost 30 years ago! I couldn't remember most of the lyrics (since girls/guys only do some each.) I Googled them, and just enjoyed this chorus' performance so much! Done extremely serious, in contrast to the lyrics...the way it should be done.

When we did it at our Christams concert, we added sound effects and a rubber chicken.

I agree their syllables sounded "mushy." I wouldn't have understood all the words if I didn't know them. Timing and technique!

  • Not bad. Could be better

  • My class is an all male choir with 94 men in it. We performed this song, and we received 200 times the applause than this. :)

  • I'm gonna' stick my neck out and say this song is terrible.

  • We sang this for chamber choir...

  • mt choir sang this song omg i love this song

  • hehe I remember doing that in high school :)

  • I remember singing this in Choir in High School. It always made me laugh!!!

  • @jime4alltime hey, i did too. lol

  • I'm really sorry to point this out, but their vowel and consanant pronounciations were horrible, I did not understand most of the words, and did I hear something about windows being wiped? or is it just me?

  • ha ha I like the song

  • my choir is much better

  • We're singing this for choir this Christmas.

  • Not every good choir takes away their books. My sister's in university choir and most of the groups had the books. It's a reinforcement so that they don't mess up because they're basically professionals. They'd put the book away for certain songs but that's about it. It doesn't mean they don't know the words.

  • we are doing this for my high school chorus and i really dont like this song!!!

  • lol i sang this in 7th grade back in december 06, when i was 12, it was freaking hilarious,

    good times, kinda lol

  • We did this at our school (: i love this songg!

  • Ok....I feel old...I sang this in 8th grade in 1974...and still have a tape of it. Its a great song, and cracked everyone up back then.....

  • haha we sang this at our concert this year...i really wanted to be the one to say the thing about the drummers but it went to a senior

  • I sang this song back in high school back in the late 80's. It was a funny tune then, and it still makes me laugh today.

  • ha ha the choir i am just sang this song for our concert. made people laugh " )

  • our chamber choir sang this. ending words like "fight" and "shot" sound better when they're reallllly short

  • @Funbean93

Yes, "fight" and "shot" sound much better if sung short and sharp!

We also put a big pause after "cartridge." (With a sound affect...someone clapped two wood blocks together...sounds just like a gunshot!)

I enjoyed the audience's laughter in this video, too. We got a lot of laughs in high school, too (1985, I think).

  • Mwahaha, singing this in a concert tonight and we've got movements!

  • I sang this in all four Christmas concerts in high school during the 70's, and alas, I too can still sing all the words.

  • @firehawkordy

You are brilliant...I had to look this up to remember the words...I couldn't recall anything past the part about the five gold rings.

  • This is brilliant! I wouldn't've found it if my English teacher wasn't a YouTuber! LOL...

  • I sang this song in my church choir..lol I love it, I hate the original version

  • I sang this version too, a long time ago, when I was in 10th grade. Now I'm 28, but I still remember it!

  • @amcfan100 i did to in church!

  • Singing this for all of my Madrigals performances but at certain points we put more emphasis like FIGHT

  • i am singing this for my christmas concert at my high school!!!! it's so funny!!

  • the choir sang this in the winter concert at my school

  • I was lucky enough to sing this with the Cypress High school singers in the Anaheim convention center for Holiday in Music in 77

  • We performed this at our university choir concert... lol I love this song

  • Im singing this tomorrow night at the choir concert :D

  • I have to sing this song at my school. Just the girls sing it. and we all say the spoken part. I can't wait. I'm nervous cuz my music teacher is dumb and started teaching us 5 songs we have to sing last week and the show in=s next Friday. I'm trying to get the fast part down. its kinda hard!

  • Im in 2 different choirs and i have a total of 18 songs. 8 maids a milking 9 pipers piping 10 ladies dancing 11 lords a leaping twelves drummers drumming

  • I have to sing this song for choir too.

I am in 8th grade so with kids it's cute.

  • Hey there! I sang this song when I was your age - 40 years ago! It was great then and still funny today. Enjoy it and ham it up when you perform!

  • haha me too

  • i have to sing this for choir lol

  • Me 2. Lol.

  • im singing this song in choir next month. wish me luck. and hope that the audience laughs super loud if i don't do well.

  • me too! Well, actually we're doing it next monday. It sounds better w/ kids

  • i bet it will. and the audience is gonna laugh so hard probably. good luck. wanna b friends?

  • rofl so is my choir!!!! my choir sounds OK..we are singing the 2 part piece...im in JV!!!! kitty hawk MS!! <33

  • it's a great song my choir is singing it right now. but they sang it horably it made me cringe

  • we are singing this in my girls choir

  • you guess sounded great

  • They didn't blend very well, I hardly understood the words, and their vowels were atrocious. I've heard better.

  • Please Note: Choirs always have atrocious vowels. Thats how you tell a real choir from a fake one. (LOL!)

  • @Shenzei1musical

Yeah, there are techniques to sound better as a group. The only one I can remember (which doesn't apply to this song), is when you are supposed to sing "doobee doobee" you should actually sing "too-pee too-pee." As a group, it sounds like "doobee." Otherwise, it sounds like an atrocious garbled mess!

I think some their timing was off, too, however.

  • This song was composed by my first voice teacher Fred Silver. Sadly, he passed away this weekend. He was a great man with brilliant ideas and a great passion for his music. RIP Fred, we love you.

  • singing this in choir lol i love it!

  • my school sang this song for our Christmas concert, but we put alot of "h" in the words like partridge, christmas, cartridge

  • My school sang this...I love this song. It's funny.

  • Our school just sang this. I loved it. But they did motions.

  • Are you in Flushing, MI choir?

  • i just sang this for my Holiday concert at school LOL. we added a really funny touch to it XDD and we sent the crowd flying. they kep laughing during the end of the song.

  • which school?

  • Ahaha, the male choir at my school did this today, choreography and all xD

  • o my word! i finally found it! My choir sang this last year, but we were a bit more phsyco and crazy with! i love this song, its so funny!

  • its a bit slow

  • the chamber ensemble is doing this.... we have added choreography to it and everything....

  • so r we but it kind sounds like this

  • we r singin this tew. but we sound a lot differnt . a lot different, our vowels are different!

  • We're singing it, too, but our vowels are less round. Well, not completely, but still... XD

I like the round sound in here. =)

  • lolll. we're singing this song for choir. can't wait for the concert.

  • i like the song but the ppl are so stiff. were is the energy in them?

  • I did this song at my church and the choir director didn`t want us to smile, people in the fron were trying to get us to smile.

  • haha this song is awesome! i have to sing it in my choir! it's going to be soo great!

  • Fred Silver used to be my vocal coach before I moved to California.

I've sung this song every Christmas since he taught it to me!

It's a hilarious song, and the story or how it came to be is even funnier!

    <3

  • i have to sing this for chorus too!

  • lmfao, my choir class is doing this:D

  • we're singing this as a closer for our chorus this year. xD i cant wait

  • i love this song i sang it in my choir class...it was halarious

  • They need books to measure the songs note! Usually choirs do like 20 deferents songs so they can't remember them! But I can Caz I'm in a choir like that!

  • Thank you for the Clarification I knew had to be somethin like that!!!

  • No problem!

  • same..piedmont middle school

  • @Pricy123 So they're basically "throat players"?

  • Horrific choir...I'll have to post a good one...

  • I am sorry you are disatisfied with this I just find the humor in a song I have never heard before until this christmas. Sometimes it is hard to find a new christmas song to hear

  • Why do you have books?

    Shouldn't you know the words?

  • It's not my choir I don't sing and Why they Have books I could not tell you but a lot of choirs I have seen do and do not have there books and even though they have books open whose to say they don't have it memorized

  • @Metallicrose A lot of choirs use books even if they do have words memorized. You're not to be looking at them, and sometimes they're just empty folders, but I've had them come in handy - especially when trying to perform an hour of music, and especially especially if it's in a foreign language. It's just a thing choirs do sometimes.

  • my brother's men's chorale class sang it this year. hell and he's only in middle school, but man they did great. and his middle school sent and bunch of girls to nyc to sing at carneighie hall last year

  • I love this song, it's hilarious. When I was in high school our select choir sang this when we sang for the Christmas tour at the White House. We all had fun with it.

  • we sang this song for my choir. my bf was scared by it. its kinda fucked tho lol

  • I liked how they did that! It's so...nice. Like tone wise. The Carolers at my school do it all animated and it's SO cool! Awesome job, guys and girls!

  • My high school choir sang this for our christmas concert this year. We didn't sing it staccato like this one but it's still good.

  • Ah, really? So did mine. Our vocal ensemble preformed it rather well.

  • Ah, I love this song. xD Good quality, fav'd.

  • So very funny!!

  • The beginning mens choir of Napa High sang this at their holiday concert

  • Other than lacking phrasing and an alto section....I believe its okay. When performing this its best to try for the emphasis of the smoother transitions....Good job guys---the girls need more work.

    Happy Holidays~!

...and a partrige in a pear tree! Hehehe...

    Lady K~!

  • yah first comment wahoo
