  • Emmanuel Santarromana brought me here.

  • I have no words it is so betautiful!

  • A little to slow... don't you think ?

  • @Adrillius no it's perfect to me.

  • @patkol45 it is simply perfect......

  • @ikelleners No, it's not... too many gasps for air is just for starters... but it's still awesome :D

  • @Adrillius Try Emmanuel Santarromana's Opera it's more up beat but this one is more emotional.

  • Funny! They seems to struggle about the speed! Scholl slows down when Dyer tries to play it faster...

  • simply amazing, gives me chills everytime i hear it.

  • Mesmerizing!

  • "Dogville" soundtrack much? wonderful music!

  • What a word class voice! Definitely one of the best versions I have heard.

  • I LOVE IT <3 yes I Do , A Master Piece

  • Great! Do you know wher I can find the sheet music?

  • Theres a remix of this on the Revolver Soundtrack called Opera by Emmanuel Santarromana. Its pretty jazzed up, worth checking out.

  • could you tell me in which language they are singing? Maybe little latin and germany?

  • @olusiamab its latin, no german =)

  • could you tell in which language they sing? It's so difficult but i think little latin and german. and you what do you think?

  • Excellent,no more words needed.

  • good job uploader!!

  • A great performance of sublime music! Again, thank you sooo much! I simply can't think of anything else to say, so i'll stick to effusive praise.

  • damn....... this soundtrack is in Never die alone......

  • masterpiece, very nice upload my friend..

  • does anyone have the sheet music? i can't find it . please contact me for it. thank you (:

  • credo che la interpretazione de Andrea sia la più "soave": con estrema delicatezza accede agli acuti e nel fraseggio senza forzare... e con delicatezza attacca il crescendo...

Lars Von Tiers ha imostrato genialità nel suo film DOGVILLE: un appoggio sonoro di grande raffinatezza...non immagino altro brano per la poetica di tutto il film.

  • Once in St Paul, I had the joy to hear Marilyn Horne sing this beautiful piece. It blew the songs by De Falla out of the water, I was enrapt. She had us in the palm of her hand. Bravo, excellent recording!

    ¡¡¡Sublime!!!

  • I absolutely love andreas scholl's voice! so much in fact, I am learning to sing, like him., courtesy of your vids, civileso- thank u

  • Interesting to compare this with the performance of the same piece by Scholl's role model, James Bowman (Simon Preston conducting). I find Scholl's very high voice makes some of his vowels a little indistinct. On the other hand I think he is smoother and I prefer his slower tempo, which may be related. How nice to quibble over degrees of greatness - these two make life richer!

  • Simon Schama's old show Power of Art used this piece in the David episode. It's chilling, check it out.

  • Amazing. Does anybody have these sheet music? :)

  • Heavenly *****

  • 24042nd view :) such beautiful music.

  • And Soundtrack from Dogville....

  • Soundtrack from Nerver Die Alone......DMX

  • my fav part

  • Yes it's a king Thing

  • Thank you so much :))

    I was searching for it

  • Forget everythin and just listen ... there is eternity afoot!!!

  • Beautiful. There's melancholy, and then there's Baroque melancholy. I think I have some sighing to do.

    Thank-you for the post.

  • Thanks for sharing! (I heard this piece today in the film HOME by Luc Besson and Yann-Arthus Betrand.)

  • Same, i kept checking at the end, the name of the songs, I'm so happy that I've found this!

  • the same story for me, what in the film sounds better... somehow

  • In the film it is a Saprano and this is a Counter Tenor, so the tone resonate differntly. I actually like the tenor a little better. Adds a roundness and enhances the melancholy.

  • The film is Sandrine Piau who's singing, it's very nice to hear her performancing this, althought this is made for Altos or countertenors, maybe mezzosopranos also.

  • thanks for sharing! first heard it in Simon Schama's Power of Art - David

  • This music was used in the film Dogville. Fantastic film, and the music fitted so well.

  • Excellent choice, thank you for posting it. I heard Marilyne Horne sing the Nisi Dominus in St Paul, the was she spun out the Cum Dederit was amazingly sensual. Scholl really can hold that note!

  • ive looked for this song scence ive seen the movie never die aloneand i though to myself how could a movie with such beautiful lyrics have to do with that movie, how beautiful a peace this is, thank you dearly for shearing

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • Absolutely outstanding! BRAVO!

  • Unbelievable. Thank you so much for uploading.

  • thank you for posting this.... i have been looking for the lyrics to this song for a couple years now... I only found out the title of this piece two days ago. thank you again

  • Phenomenal, profound and eternal...

  • groovy

  • gives me chills

  • @ruttergod exactly my experiece, goose bumps everywhere.

I've heard this piece over a hundred times, I don't think i will ever get tired of it.

  • That was so awesome! Thank you for posting!

  • Heavenly!

  • Bow to Scholl! Thank you, civileso!

  • very nice

  • Sorry for the other message, I've just noticed that the details appear at the beginning of the video! :')

  • Hi Civileso, thanks for posting this. What are the details of this version? I don't have yet any version of Vivaldi's Nisi Dominus and this seems great. Would you suggest any other? This is Andrea Scholl but what's the recording?

Thanks a lot for all the Handel stuff, I also love it!

  • Tvem Dma

  • Excellent collection of useful resources! Keep up the good work!

  • Beautiful song, I like it...are you able to send me the mp3? I've one copy of it, but the sound is awful... :(

  • let me know how i can send it. you can send a message to my channel.

  • could i also ask for an mp3 of this piece from you?

  • Sorry, I don't share files though..

  • Thanks civileso for your hard work with the score animations, truly a work of the heart.

This piece figures prominently in the David episode of Simon Schama's Power of Art series, serving as the theme music for the tragic figure of French painter Jacques Louis David. The tone of the music suits the episode perfectly, though if there's any relation between the text of this movement of the Nisi Dominus and David it remains a mystery.

    Again, many thanks!!!

  • thx for your posting !

  • beautiful. thanks for posting the lyrics to these as well.

  • hey, thanks for posting all these wonderful videos, really gems.

I have spend a lot of hours listening Andreas, just incredible.

    Life change because of music

  • I wouldn't blame you if you spent your whole life listening to him.. That's practically what I am doing:)) Even when I go to sleep I have my headset on with him singing... God bless him..

  • ... Ma-gni-fique

  • Thanks civileso!, what a pity I have only recently discovered youtube has such treasures. I was stunned when I heard Scholl's voice, I try to sing like him sometimes :P I am Turkish too.

  • Merhaba Ismail! Turkiye'den kontratenor soylemeye cabalayan birilerinin ciktigini duymak beni cok sevindiren birsey. Ben de Sholl-zedelerdenim! Eger baska kimeyi dinlmesem gam yemem:)) Kendine ve sesine iyi bak..

  • God bless you.

  • :)) Thank you. I will be posting the remaining 4 movements as soon as my computer is fixed.
