amazingly accurate....underarm bowling ,terrorism, shane warne's bowling career.the demise in credibility of 1 day cricket and the resurgence of interest in ashes cricket and the england's victory in 2011
Anyone who says this isn't as funny as it used to be are wrong! I actually laugh *more* at this now than I did when I was a kid in the 70s! It's so over the top. The Goodies are just supremely good at visual comedy - there is little in the way of dialogue throughout the whole cricket match but you can't help but laugh like a drain!
This is from one of the later series where The Goodies often had darker endings. Some of these are very good, but this is not so great IMHO.
Some really great episodes are mentioned in the comments here. Cunning Stunts, Hype Pressure and It Might As Well Be String all line up among the best ones.
3. The rollerball team look just like the one day cricket (and 20-20) uniforms of today! With all the music and the hype as well! Another correct prediction!
4. The helmets too! (remember no one was wearing helmets back when this was made, and these helmets look just like the ones they wear today!)
HAHAHA! What a classic! I rembmer watching it as a kid. It's really interesting to watch it again now that we are past 2001! A few very funny points I noticed...
1. Bill Odie's pony tail on the top of his head isn't far off the truth! How many "new age" guys do you see with pony tails like this!!
2. Tim (dressed as Graeme) at the start looks just like Ritchie Benaud! (with the beige suit and all!!!)
People say how good the 1975 series of the Goodies was, but the 1976 series was just so full of classics - especially 'Hype pressure' and 'It Might As Well Be String'. Notice how the audience go quiet when the nuclear blast happens? Shocking in the context of a comedy series, I guess.
I've always loved that guitar rock song that plays when Graeme's team comes out. Why oh why doesn't Bill Oddie release on cd alot of the great backing music from the series? It's a lot better than the official Goodies albums.
I love how Graeme limps back to the pavillion...

Groucho Marx said of cricket "Well if this doesn't cure insomnia nothing will!"I think that Goodies would agree.

I'm guessing it was an early episode...

I think you're thinking of "Cunning Stunts" where Tim & Graeme try to stop Bill from killing himself, but wind up being run over by a train.
