So have these guys announced anything coming up? Like a new record or tour or anything? I feel cheated I just start to get into Tool and it seems like they're not even a band any more :(
@Floorberry Don't worry dude, they usually release a record every six years. We should get one next year, if they are nice. I'm just as anxious as anyone to get some more TOOL.
Tool is at the present moment gracing our planet. The music is full of great transitions and tempo switches, and no one preaches the word like Rev. Maynard!
@msvanwyk I hope you've been by now, I think you would be surprised by the croud... it's not a typical metal croud... last show I went to there were whole families in line together (parents wearing tool shirts along with their 8 yos) Great atmosphere... just expect to smell somthing funky/skunky from time to time ;)
@KiodFox you're not a realy tool fan if you just speed up in the song, you listen to the song and like it no matter how sof or heavy it is, and in just about EVERY tool song they give you a good mixture of both
@anthonyring123 so i'm not a tool fan for something that the band itself does with one of it's songs? i'm not a too fan for knowing how to play a few of their songs? shit son.
@KiodFox i know it doesn't totally fit with the, for saying it in a way, feel of the song but it's such a pleasure to see Danny play the drums that i can't help but to watch the whole solo
@Ehud2221 Yea but most music videos are rubbish and just show the band in some remote location all plugged in and playing their shit in the middle of a desert or on the edge of a cliff or some dumb thing.
Great to hear a good quality live performance from Tool. The whole band are sick. The bass is just sublime. I will carry on listening to these for another 10 years at least even with no new album.
The big TV/projectors and the lights are pretty unique. When I saw Slayer, all they really did was headbang and walk around a bit. It would have been a lot less exciting if they didnt have the best light show I've ever seen!
@lukemfingwilloughby I would have to agree totally.. I guess I should have been a little more clear in what my thoughts were. Musicly they aren't very similar, I was looking more at the affect the music has on people. Very artistic and really makes you step back and think (about the world, and yourself)... I feel that each Tool album just as Floyd's is a journey... and I think that in the future Tool could put on a show to Rival the Wall... or at least that's the climax I am hoping for.
@FedorfaN79 I have the same taste my friend... my favorite band is Pink Floyd and then Tool.. by the way I´m only 15 years old.. so I guess I would have some more opportunities to discover new music.. like The Mars Volta
@memoom0528 that is awesome to hear, someone your age, listening outside of what's "popular". its people like you that will keep great music alive. And there is so much great music that you've yet to discover. I would recommend The Doors or Clutch they may be right up your alley
I didn't say they were like Pink Floyd... I was merely pointing out that Tool is to our Generation what Floyd was to there's. 2 of the most "Original" bands ever... and I have to mention Led Zeppelin as well... imo top 3 bands of all time
@FedorfaN79 I actually consider Tool the current generation's YES. Very complex and artful in your face rock. I can see why you would think that though. I am in that Pink Floyd generation by the way. PF is my favorite but Tool has proven that artistic rock will never die.
@FedorfaN79 I actually consider Tool the current generation's YES. Very complex and artful in your face rock. I can see why you would think that though. I am in that Pink Floyd generation by the way. PF is my favorite but Tool has proven that artistic rock will never die.
@seanbob24 I love Tool and have every album, but I also have every Pink Floyd album. The two are a tough choice, but I give the edge to Pink Floyd. And I mean an extremely slight one. Pink Floyd is just a little bit more refined with the way they put songs together, though Tool is the king of tempo changes. Now I might change my mind, no, fuck it. They're both way better than 99% of what has been thrown out their in recorded music history. So hard to choose on that one.
@FedorfaN79 certainly one of the most important bands of our time. They will be remembered the way floyd and zeppelin are in the future. Opeth & Radiohead too
@passvagg hmmm.. I would love to Neil and Dan have a battle during Lateralus... then again i dunno. that may cause a worm hole to open and we'd all get sucked into the net of being
@FedorfaN79 no i wouldnt agree at all. tool would be insulted by that. pink floyd would be too. so shut up and go make your own fuckin music and compare it to something you tool
@ireternalexistence truth be known... it will probably take another generation or two.... just look at the gap between when Floyd started and when Tool came on the scene. I'm sure there will be other great bands (Godsmack for instance) ... but Bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Tool are on a completely different level.
@FedorfaN79 Godsmack is not great....Alice in Chains was great...Godsmack ripped them off and added a middle aged front man whining as if he has teenage angst and urging everyone to "get away" or "keep away" from him. Not even worth mentioning that awful group in the same paragraph as Floyd, Zeppelin or TOOL
@CRRankinstein yes the old A.I.C. was great... it's all about opinions... and mine is that Godsmack is great... you have different taste and that's ok
@CRRankinstein why do douchebags like you talk shit about other metal bands? bash justin bieber or miley cyrus instead of wasting ur breath on good bands
@CRRankinstein godmack is a very good band they're just a complete opposite style of tool and personally i think you're a douche bag for saying that, of course they can't be in the same conversation as tool but no one can
@CRRankinstein Godsmack doesn't suck. it could be worse. they could be singing bullshit like "The bitch came back". by far the worst rock song I've ever heard.
my buddy saw tool once. he told me they were on acid during the show. he said they played the whole show with their backs to the crowd. anyone ever heard of anything like that from them?
@legatzzz I never heard that particular one, but someone told me, before I saw them for the first time, that they dressed all in white, and all of the instruments and equipment were white, while a crazy light show was tripping everyone's balls. Sounded awesome, but nonetheless, that was not the case when I did see them on the 10,000 Days tour, but still fucking amazing. I saw them in Vancouver last year, and they played mostly their older stuff. Their setlist always seems to be well constructed
It's a shame that one of the greatest bands of all time never has any professionally filmed live performance (with the exception of a live performance of Sober in 93 I think) but oh well, I'll work with what I have until they do film such a performance in that way.

I personally love the set up they have just something different from all the other bands in the world today and reckon he looks cooler as a silhoutte
@killzy it's because they don't just make music, they make auditory orgasms, which are beyond the comprehension of us mere mortals. when on hiatus, they go to another plane of existence, to dance with devils and dine with Gods. maybe.
@killzy any other band, that would be kind of annoying. but every Tool album is so good that it doesnt really matter. with Tool you dont need a new album every year cause you can listen to any album over and over and still disover new nuances.
@killzy well daney creates his Times signatures out of geometrical objects .......Lateralus album is based on the fibonacci sequence ..... if they are about to create so EPIC stuff then what do you expect ??? :)
@killzy I just realized the other day that almost ALL the good bands take forever to write another album. It's upsetting, but at least we're garunteed a masterpiece everytime!
@akhbball According to a post on their site, they're working on a new album now. I expect it to be out sometime between the end of this year and 2014.

Listen to the crowd and the person who films.
You can't hear them?
Because they don't scream and bang their heads menacingly.
They enjoy the music, like they should.
As Adam Jones the guitarist of TOOL said:
"We'd rather have that the people listen and enjoy our music while looking at a cool visual than being their just for seeing us".
