  • AWESOME! Nice idea of using it as a track

  • where does the ball bearing pickup that extra energy??

  • holy cheese ive been lookin for these magnets for ages wered u get them please respond with a @ before my account name u know what i mean right?

  • Sweet!

  • o_0

  • Pics or gtfo

  • also try NIB ball bearing magnets that already magnetic and see if you can get a chain reaction going.

  • ITS not a phenomenom.. what happens is that a high amount of magnet field is created and will push away the metalball (in a simple way of saying it)

  • umm, guy who's talking about magnets with seats-

first they wouldnt actract beacause in a gaussian gun steel balls are used, not magnetic

second, those balls roll. you you be flattened in a mere breath

  • does anyone know where to buy these tarks?

  • You could make it perpetual by making the magnet/ball part "rotate". As soon as the first one takes off, make it rotate to expose the opposite magnet side, so when it comes back its ready to go again.

  • its not possible to make perpetual motion!

  • would be great if there would be a human size gaussian gun and the bullet with a seat in it. but then those big ass magnets would rob everyone's metal goods..

  • Would it be possible to make some sort of perpetual motion machine out of this concept

  • no, you have to re-set the bearings each time.

  • scientists need to study some form of inertial dampeners, then were cooking with gas!

  • Lol it is kinda cool^^

  • Question: Wouldn't the balls shoot quicker if the magnets were fixed in position, not able to move toward the balls coming at them? No? Not sure myself.

  • No matter what you say, this is pretty cool.

  • Whats going on!!!! GOD, HALP!

  • nicceeeeee

  • crazy awesome, but no idea how it works... lol

  • wow thats crazy accereration

  • It's too bad this thing can't do that continuously, you could easily make an efficient source of energy from this method.

  • Cept for the whole law of conservation of energy and what not....

  • well..... if you get a machine to replace the ball at a high speed etc it would work

  • fucks sake, lame... made thses things when i was 9 or 10, better ones too.

  • hes not trying to kill some one, hes just making a small demonstration, please fuck off if you think its lame and post a video of yours :)

  • I know he is not trying to kill anyone you Tit!

  • good for you

maybe hes only 9 or 10

    give him a break

  • potential next generation of transport and completely clean

  • but that's crazy acceleration...

  • not reall the first 'transfer of kinetic energy is, but the second is a lot more steady so thats where the peeps would be!! problem solved WOO-HOO!!

  • They could add breaks when needed :)

  • It's only as clean as wherever you got the energy from.

  • i dont think this could be utilized as transport in the near future because many people could get nautious or even suffer permanent damage from something like this because of the heavy g forces that will be applied from the sudden acceleration. just look at the dragster at cedar point, basically the same thing

  • They said similar things about supersonic flight and trains that traveled at speeds of 100+ mph...now we have all of those and more. There is no limit to what can be done given time and resources.

  • but those accelerate gradually.

  • Sorry I'm meant it not if

  • that's what i meant

  • The sudden acceleration on the Dragster is barely noticeable because you go so fast you don't even know if it's started. With the proper cushioning and seats if could me a good way to travel.

  • Inertia would slam your head around and give you whiplash. Unless you want to be strapped down so that you can hardly breathe.

Also, you stop when you hit the next magnet. So this would be similar to a metro that stopped at each station if it came into use, but magnets powerful enough to pull a car any real distance would have adverse effects on everything else, if they could possibly be made.

  • They've already been made. There's a train called the Lev train that's powered by electromagnets.

  • The maglev trains do not use the same principle as the gaussian gun. The maglev trains use electromagnets that rapidly switch polarities, as a train with a fixed magnet is attracted to the ones with opposite polarities, and repelled by those with similar ones. If the train is pushed slightly, the pulsing magnets keep it going by switching from "attract" to "repel" as the inertia pulls the fixed magnet on the train slightly to the front of the electromagnet. This pulls the train forward faster.

  • the lev train's currents alternate though, i think he means with permanent magnets

  • That is really neat,GREAT job:)

  • This works because the first ball falls deeper into the mag field, transfers it's kinetic energy out of the mag field to the second ball which is farther out of the field and does not need to climb out of the field as far as the first one fell into it.

  • that is so cool

  • that was cool

  • If this produced energy it would be a perpetual motion machine, which is not possible. Notice that it only works for one cycle.

  • That was rally interesting!!

  • amazing

  • i'd like to know where you got the track from

  • Go to Amazon and search for Skyrail......

  • muy buena papá, sos un grosso

    saludos

  • cool

  • have you tried using four on each? you might be able to get it to circle twice

  • I did try several combinations but found the effect only works when there are no ball bearings on the impact side of the magnet.

  • I think he meant just putting two more ball bearings on each magnet. You had 2 on each magnet on the opposite side of the impact. So put two more on the opposite side of the impact side. Of course, I really don't know anything about this, but I'm just interpreting what he said.

    Very cool, though.

  • @sdense That is because the ball that shoots off has the same speed as the previous ball did at the moment of impact. The magnetic field accelerates the first ball just as it is about to hit because the magnetic field is at it's full strenth at it's surface. So with a ball keeping the impacting ball further away the acceleration is minimal.

  • lol

  • Wher did you buy the plastic track? I really was impressed by what I saw.

  • woah
