I'd say, that British actors/actresses, are better at pulling off an authentic sounding American accent, in general, than vice versa. Obviously, if you listen really carefully, you can sometimes hear the British intonation and pronunciation leaking through, but many of them do a fantastic job. By the way, I'm not British, in case you wonder. I'm Swedish :). Cudos to Jamie for appearing to be such a humble and adorable person, with a great sense of humour.
I think it's because American culture (i.e. movies/music) is far more prevalent and influential in the UK than British culture is in the US. English kids grow up hearing far more American speech than American kids hear British English, for example.
I actually like the British slang. I also like the fact that he does not hold back he tells it how it is. I love him in BSG. I also the versatility of going back and forth between his American and English accents.

No your the moran because Hugh and Jamie are two of my favorite actors of all time and I know every thing there is to know about them and I know that their American so STFU with your lies you idiot.
@enigma19833 yes thats why they both went to cambridge uni... and have british accents and started acting on the bbc and itv.... of course they're american ...not
@enigma19833 Watch 'A bit of Fry and Laurie' hun, believe me, hugh is british...as am I, I grew up knowing Hugh, hes best friends with steven fry and Emma thomson, both british, went to cambrige and started the cambrige footlights review...look it up :)
@enigma19833 Also, his humour is *so* English... dark but seemingly entirely acceptable because it's said with a twinkle in the eye and *that* accent. I've never heard an American comedian whose humour I like, it all seems awfully crude - ours is crude too, just not in a ridiculous slapstick way. Hell, I just love being English. Shame that the world doesn't get to see much of our talent... we keep our best to ourselves ;)
@Melville10 I think she looks fine with that much makeup. In pretty much every other interview she's in, she either doesn't wear makeup or just uses concealer. This time she's using eye liner, probably because she wanted something fancy and dramatic to go with her dressy outfit. It would be odd to wear a dressy outfit and combine it with makeup that wasn't intended for "after 5". /fashion 101
Sphincter Tightening, Butt Clenching.... I'm using that.

@enigma19833 Pahahaa oh that's embarrassing. For you.
It may sound fake, but that's genuinely how Received Pronunciation is spoken. It's not called 'Queen's English' for nothing.

Sackhoff is using too much make up. I like her but she needs to ease up on the Revlon.

Jamie is born in London I believe. He is British, not American. He only did an American accent when he was acting as Apollo.
