I feel that heavenly father gives us challenges for a reason. my sunday school teacher had an abusive father, but moved on from that life and lived with the bishop of the church, (im lds and so is she obviously) and she met her husband through living with him. she feels that if she hadnt had that life of abuse, she wouldnt have had a reason to live with the bishop, she wouldnt have had her amazing husband. her beautiful kids, she wouldve had a different life, she wouldnt even be my teacher.

As far as things that happen to people (rape, death, hunger, ect), those are not the works of God. Those are works of someone who has left God out of their decisions, or out of their life. God has control over us, over the universe, but if he used his power constantly and let nothing bad happen to anyone, what would be the incentive for people to not do harmful things? As far as things that happen to people (rape, death, hunger, ect), those are not the works of God. Those are works of someone who has left God out of their decisions, or out of their life. God has control over us, over the universe, but if he used his power constantly and let nothing bad happen to anyone, what would be the incentive for people to not do harmful things? No consequence, no reason for why you shouldn't do bad. Those effected are the victims of an evil deed, not forgotten by God.

If God saved someone from death or rape, why shouldn't he save someone from being called names, or from having $5 stolen. Pretty soon he would have to inter-vein with every little aspect of sin, and that would erase consequences from who did the deed. So rather than take prevent things from happening to us, he heals us and provides forgiveness and comfort.
