  • This is taking it back, you won't see shit like this these days, people dressed up in spacesuits and shit back then lol

  • Give her a lazer gun w holster and that outfit will be complete!

  • Soul Train was famous for the lip sink performance.

It cost too much money for real live performances.

  • @MegaHegira Stupid Comment - It IS Her Singing, Who Else ? Say What You Mean, If You're Trying To Disparage Someone ! What's Wrong With Lip-Sync, 'Especially When You Can't Carry A Full Orchestra ! You Wanna-Be-Experts Kill Me !!! Just Enjoy The Performance !

  • What's 40,443 likes times a billion plus x=more?

  • live my ass. Lip synched live you mean. This is a voice over dubbed version. That is not her singing..

  • @MegaHegira yea your right it is lip synced between soul train and american bandstand everything was lip synced but look at some soul trains from the early 70's some performances were live

  • this was a nice jam !

  • Memories... !!!

  • Angie has been on SouL Train about 5 Times starting in 1976....I seen them all.

    Love ya Angie...

  • OMG!!! I remember this song. I didn't realize Ms.l Bofill was the singer.

  • Yeah found out she was on at least twice. Once in the 80's and possibly twice in 90's. Let me know if you track down the footage and I will do the same.

  • @brownboykb Do you know if Phyllis was ever on Soul Train?

  • @akaziaj yes Phyllis was on Soul Train, i remember her singing from her Prime of My Life album/cd

  • @akaziaj yes

  • @akaziaj she sang two songs riding the tiger

  • She gettin' her groove on JUST fine. Yes mam!

  • It seems she enjoyed singing this song and sometimes you need something fun.

  • Angela does a good job on this song but she is not a dancer and she seems out of her eliment here. This song is more for the young Stacy Lattisaw during this time. Angie is a strong singer and her voice is best suited in the jazz/ballad stuff.

  • she so pretty

  • Great Angie!

  • As one of the posters already stated, this was probably one of Angie's only uptempo songs because her strong suit as a song stylist were really ballads, but, this one was a jam - produced by early 80's music producer, Narada Michael Waldon, who, back then, I really liked him as a producer for other artists, and, himself, solo, as well. Narada also produced a couple of Stacy Lattisaw songs back in the early 80's when she still performed secular music - too bad she didn't finish the 80's out!

  • I saw this episode for the 1st time a month ago. I hardly remember this song (hardly played at all now) and I didn't know this was her song. Angela can sing a love song out of her mouth but this funky song shows she got range. Angela is a pretty, classy, talented lady.

  • Angela Bofill was truly too tough! She had class and talent. Truly one of the all time greats. Female preformers now days should take a lesson from this true diva.

  • I just saw this episode of Soul Train last night at my cousin's house!! Cool!!!

  • yes im toooooo tough

  • what causes her strokes, high blood pressure? diabetes? what I love about the 80's is that a female performer cover sing covered up and and be appealing to her audience physically as in singing

  • I think she suffered from stage fright, or some kind of anxiety, thats why she maybe looks high, Maybe nervous.

  • @trvwatson It''s the eye lashes

  • I didn't know eye lashes made someone look nervous, must extend to her feet and arms, oh well

  • They sure do. jk Her eyelashes are obviously fake. That's why she's blinking like crazy if you notice. Most of her songs were ballads and this was probably her only dance toon. She's a ballad singer

  • OMG my mom used to play this song all the time lol

  • These soul train lyp sync things were SO bad! Angie had an awesome, distinctive voice but she was so wierd.

  • Did you know angela bofil personally?

  • I read that she sufferd a stroke a few years back and was having finacial difficulties , I pray things have gotten better for her. She is an important member of the R&B DIVA'S .

  • The chick from the Swedish band Aqua does Angela's little uh-oo scream on the song Barbie Girl.

  • It's actually sampled from this song.

Strangely, it was because of Aqua's "Barbie Girl" that I looked up this song from Angie. I remembered this from back in the day.

  • Wow I totally thought another artist sang this song. I love this song. Another sweet song to chalk up to the singing angel MS. Bofill.

  • I'll get outta the right scene for her, pick her up,take hold of her hand and get back into it to cure her.

  • "out of my mind, i keep on comin'--one more time, back to his arms!"

  • Her hands are completely different colour to her face

  • Thanks, DEEDUBB1979 for the info on were to find this great song!

  • Hard to find song...thanks for uploading it! Love it!

  • This song is available on her best of and greatest hits collections in case if you're insterested in purchasing it.

  • Hot song. I remember this in 1982 in the 10th grade. Angie is showing her sassy side. One of my favorite fast songs by her. 80's funk. We used to do the dance called the ""gigolo'' to this song back then.

  • You just took me back with the "gigolo". We sure had some great times back then.

  • OKAAAY. You better remember the ''Gigolo'' dance.

  • We sure did throw it down back then! I loved Soul Train!

  • love miss bofill and soul trains always been the bomb.

  • tHAT OUTFIT- WTF!

  • Talk about a fish out of water. This song doesn't begin to show the true talent that this talented woman has. Jazz/Quiet Storm is definately her strong suit.

  • @jameca101 Agreed just listen to "The Feelings Love" from Angel of the Night.

  • Comment removed

  • @jameca101 either way, she is a great singer and a ton of us remember this song. A ton of us were introduced to her with this song. I was probably 9, 10 years old when this came out and got heavy play here in NYC on the radio. Talent is talent, and it shows no matter what style she sings, or sang.

  • I remember this cut, but vaguely.

  • It's kinda funky...I miss the 80's

  • I love this song!

  • This was the Jam back in tha day.Another Narada Michael Walden Production.

  • they need to bring back soul train

  • They really don't make music like this anymore, for real.

  • about anjela bofill stage presence - angella bofill walked with a limp and that is why she appears a little ackward dancing etc. but back then who cared her voice was the clincher unlike today when its an ass an boobs ala ciara that said angela is quite beautiful also.

  • I love Bofill. Hated this song!

  • I originally despised 'Too Tough' as well but it's grown on me over the years. It's not so bad if you look at it as just a silly/fun early 80's R&B/Dance number. Good dance number? Yes. Is it a true representation of Miss Bofill's vocal talent and/or the excellent, sophisticated material she has recorded throughout her career? HELL NO! But unfortunately this was her biggest hit chart wise..........

  • I think this is a good song never heard it b4 I saw the soul train episode with this performance last year I even downloaded it on my ipod it may have been her best hit but a good one

  • i forgot about this one. haven't heard it since 83

  • Jeez lang trug, strakke beat.

  • when she says *right in between not too big or not too small* I was like no she did not just say that

  • this was 1983...she wore the same outfit on that album cover with Too Tough..

  • I finally saw the picture on the album cover. She looks REALLY pretty, despite the early '80's metallic robot dress that's attacking her in it. So that says a lot about her natural good looks.

  • LOL I remember she was hella stoned after she did the song when the host interviewed her! I couldn't stop laughing- at how high she looked and at her outfit.

    This song is bad ass.

  • Oh this song is HOTT!! I remeber this when i was young! I don't know what year, but they don't have music this good these days!!

  • Whirl Away,

This song is from 1983. And it made #1 at the Billboard's Dance Chart.

  • beautiful, wonderful voice and a perfect song, why was this not a No. 1 Pop hit?

  • Get well soon Angela...this is amazing, as is everything you do!

  • some of the best funk music made during this

time.Angela,we miss you and praying to God

    for your wonderful return...funkywalt

  • 9th grade jam....the long version on 12 inch

  • 12th grade jam...lol

  • Brings back great memories... I used to love Angie back in the day!!

  • Oh, yesss!! I'm glad someone posted this!! This was my song back in the day!!

  • What year was this?

  • This would have been in 1983.

  • bad ass outfit she had on!

  • She was my first Crush!!!!!

  • Damn, this is song is soo funkin'!!! Don't hear this kind of groove anymore!

  • I hope Ms. Bofill is doing well. She suffered a couple of strokes during the last few years.

  • Just had to add, I love Angie - always have and always will. I wish her the best. Her stage presence however was very, very awkward. If you've ever seen her live, you would understand and this clip gives a hint of it. I remember her opening for Grover Washington Jr. and she took the stage with some spandex & an early Patti Labelle type wig. Always doing those very unladylike rap gestures, etc. Her 8x10's with those birds flying around her head, etc. Met her twice. Love her, but just wierd.

  • Quite interesting the comments you make about Angie's stage presence being awkward. Although, I never had the privilege to see her live, I've been studying her body language in the videos I've seen and my interpretation is that she projects this vulnerability and ill at ease with people who are not close to her. There's a contrast with her personality and such powerful and beautiful voice and heart wrenching and masterful performances. You can't help but love her even more for not being perfect.

  • Jive Clive tried the same thing with Phyllis Hyman but she just wasn't havin' it.

  • I watched this on wgn (ch. 9, chicago) when it aired in 1982 (12 years old).buggin, yo. get well soon angie.

  • I love Bofill's jazzier cuts. This one was a miss for me. But, it charted. Clive Davis was tring to give her a mainstream push. The result was this song.

  • This Great ,Angela is a True Singer with a Great Voice & untold Beauty

  • BRILLIANT!!!! When dance music was DANCE music!

  • I remember I was looking for her CD TOO TOUGH for ages when I finally found it 2 years ago. Still a burner on the dancefloore and great to see her live performing this song.

  • Finally!!! Poppin' clip and I finally get to see the beautiful Angela Bofill from 25 years ago!!!! Soul Train set looks as though Don forgot to pay the lightbill (LOL).

  • He probably did.lol Don still is a trip to this date. Did you catch him on this show where some photographers spotted him sportin leather pants at this Beverly Hills joint. Dude went to take a pic of him and he yelled "don't do it brotha" then he made the parking attendant give him his change. Don is a trip.

  • again you hit the mark with another great posting and beleive it or not i didn't know angela jammed this tune on soul train. a great big thanks for posting this.LETS PRAY FOR ANGELAS RECOVERY

  • Thanks for posting. I hope Angie gets better. We Love you Angie!!!!
