  • I'm not sure where parody ends and shot-for-shot remake begins.

  • Thumbs up if you saw this before seeing Jesus Christ Superstar.

  • The girl who throws the first stone looks surprisingly similar to Jesus' mother in the Passion of the Christ. I'm too lazy to research if it's the same person.

  • @maddash24seven It's Jeanne Tripplehorn. She wasn't in the Gibson film, but was the villain in Basic Instinct.

  • does anyone else think the music sounds alot like the first stage doom music?

  • @SADoctorNick shit yes

  • Looks like Randal from Clerks has made an appearance here. 6:31

Can't be positive though, as both pixels are blurry.

  • @noogetful thats jay johnston

  • He is totally my new savior.

  • Watch Brian Posehn stomp his way across the foreground at 6:23

  • i guess it's kind of clever doing a 90s slacker jesus christ superstar, but i didn't fund it funny. It kind of just dragged on not doing anything. I usually hold Mr. Show in such high regard but this definitely didn't do it for me

  • @deepfried13 well, they didn't call it "the biggest failure in broadway history" for nothing, you know.

  • "He's not all that good, but he's not all that bad." HAHA

  • Despite all the movies he's been in since this first aired, this Remains the best performance of Jack Black's career.

  • @tvnutboy I agree. Black should have stopped after this, because everything else he did afterward pales. I did however, enjoy his performance in "The Jackal," where Bruce Willis' character kills him and in "I still Know What You Did Last Summer," where the slasher kills him.

  • Having not seen JCSS, this confuses the shit outta me

  • so happy they are playing HBO's Mr. Show again on IFC :D Check that shit out :)

  • The verisimilitude of this piece is just astonishing.

  • The score is absolute 90s

  • A genius parody of Jesus Christ Superstar; "Check this sh** out!"

  • "jeepers creepers 2" came out in 2003 and was also was set in a schoo bus in the desert. This sketch is from 1996! WTF!

  • @tebu810 Are you that young? Jesus Christ Super Star parody. This has nothing to do with the horror movie.

  • @rottro I know that. I was just pointing that out.

  • 7 people won't check this shit oooooooooooooout

  • I'm as confused as a tackle box

  • is the messiah andy black?

  • @ZwwZStoneMode Jack Black

  • And of course, religious arguments are rampant in the comments section of a comedy sketch.

  • 7 people were on the 18th hole.

  • Holy crap this is funny. But if you'd never seen the movie version of Jesus Christ Superstar, you'd just be scratching your head.

  • CHECK THIS SHIT OUT!

  • "Shut that refrigerator door!"

"I'm not paying to cool the out-of-doors!"

  • All praise be to Jeepers Creepers, the Could-Be-Messiah.

  • David's right!

  • That was Sarah Silverman getting (accidentally) hit by that rock.

  • Wow, waaay early Jack Black in this, i don't remember him being on Mr.Show, but i didn't remember Ben Stiller being on it either till i started watching this awesomeness again.

  • Haha the JC Superstar music was actually pretty good...

  • So what, he's a slacker messiah?

  • but it was

  • Oh hey, i was there the other day. I thought i remembered all the cool movies filmed there, guess i forgot about this sketch! FUCK ME!

  • Did anyone else notice DJ Qualls from The New Guy and Road Trip is in this sketch? I swear to God, right after Brian Posehn's bad boy pose.

  • How the hell did they get Jeanne Tripplehorn to make that cameo? She was hot as hell too man - AWESOME!

  • Jack Black and David Cross singing together thats just gold

  • i'm not paying to cool the out of doors!

  • haha jack has been saying blow your mind for forever.

  • PURE FUCKIN BRILLIANCE, still the best and funniest sketch ever

  • I think I'm going to do myself an injury laughing.

  • someone should design a "David's Right!" t-shirt

  • he wont get a jab

  • I will always love Jeanne Tipplehorn for her bit part in this musical.

  • Nooooooooooooooooooo! I was on the eighteenth hole!

  • Lmao, I always do the dance David does in here this is one of my favorite Mr. Show sketches.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, Jeanne Triplehorn!

  • Honestly, I think the movie is worth watching just so that you can fully understand this sketch. It's brilliant!

  • According to the commentary, the scene where Sarah Silverman gets hit in the head by the rock was ad libbed. It was only supposed to hit Jack. It accidentally bounced, hit her and without missing a beat, she went with it and fell over.

  • gah u beat me to it lol

  • check this sizit ou ouou out olnly a old basterd like me can really love this clip less thou has seen jesus crist super star lol u might want to be high first

    i love mr show

  • @bad4good100 I got the Jesus Christ Supestar LP when I was about 15 (the one with Ian Gillan, lead singer from Deep Purple, playing JC). It's amazing how much of that musical they were able to incorporate into this vid...you are correct that if you see/hear the real one. Mr. Show was the best show on TV evaaaaahhhh!! I miss it so (yay for dvds!).

  • One of the best MrShow sketches. Hands down.

  • Jack black early shit

  • hahah what the fuck?!?

  • hahahaha i am so confuse?,-_-,

  • im laughing so fucking hard

  • Lol, I don't know why, but I cannot get the music out of my head :D

  • aahahah they rhymed door with doors. goddamn genius

  • Why isn't David Rocking Broadway yet?

I love his singing voice so much. It's too good!

  • I'm not paying to cool the out of doors!

  • NO!!!!!, I WAS ON THE 18TH HOLE!!!!

  • oh my God i love this soo much its sooooo funny and random without Jack Black and David Cross this probably woulndt be funny! i love Jack!!!!

  • don't forget mr. odenkirk. he's under rated now a days =\

  • Everything about this, from the dancing to the stupid music, is hysterical!

  • David Cross totally rocked this sketch.

  • Genius. Jack Black is fabulous. David Cross? Funniest guy ever.

  • Lotta talent on one bus.

  • lol never thought of it that way, nice one

  • There's an old 70's Rock Opera movie called "Jesus Christ Superstar" and this was a spoof on that. "Jeepers Creepers Slacker Guy"

  • I find it embarrassing that you actually have to explain that.

  • i knew what it was....but never once saw "jesus christ superstar" nor did anyone tell me about it...never saw an advertisement...I dont think its embarrassing at all....in fact I am happy to see that christian garbage makes it to less and less of the populace.

  • Couldn't agree more...amen!

  • @TRBNGR666 Man... you are just flaunting ignorance now, I'm a forthright and outspoken atheist, but you sir are just dribbling spittle. You can't comment on anything you haven't seen and call it "Christian Garbage" -- Jesus Christ Superstar is probably some froopy little walk to church in your mind, so you'll vacantly judge it and walk past, not realizing that there's something there you could have enjoyed or learned from. An ironic choice; ignorance -- as the play highlights just this form.

  • @RoneciDesade bizarre that you dug 4 pages deep to find my comment i dont even remember.

  • Derr?

Its a hilarious piss take of the 1973 "Jesus Christ Superstar"

  • it's a spoof of the musical "jesus christ super star"

  • No shit, Sherlock.

  • i know where they shot this. i've been there a few times.

  • i agree!

    love this show :D

  • The overdone zoom at 1:45 is fucking hilarious.

  • Jeepers Creepers, not so great -- a guy we'll never really love or hate! Ahaha, this clip is gold, especially David's hilarious dancing.

  • 05:14 I'm not paying to cool the out of doors!

  • TENACIOUS D FTW !!! <3

  • I love this skit!!

  • WHAT THE FUCK did i just watch?!

  • Jack Black looks like that fake toughguy prick from that movie "Alpha Dog"!lol

  • Jeanne Triplehorn looks smokin in this clip

  • Great sketch. It's especially great because you get to witness Jack Black peak.

  • David Cross is a dancing machine.

  • CHECK THIS SHIT OUT!

  • @Kyusaku

    Check this shit owwwwwwwwwwhohohout!

  • STOP DANCING.

  • One last thing, I died laughing at the bishops insinuation that Jesus was dealing!

  • Oh yeah, and the bit with the lizard and the bong right before this is hilarious!

  • Sulu...sulu...come here Sulu

  • While Superstar was a great movie ( I have it on DVD) this is even better! I can't believe they cancelled Mr. Show. Go Bob and David!

  • check this this shit it ahhh ooo out...

  • Jack Black ~ Jesus

  • Nooooo I was on the eighteenth hoooolleeee!

  • best line no doubt!

  • WTF ? SHIT!

  • lighten up Francis! This is a satire of the 1970's film version of Jesus Christ Superstar...NOT a rip on Jesus. Even though I suspect you are faking being a Christian to make us look bad by ripping on this brilliant skit, I will say: relax, Jesus has a sense of humor too.

  • @wjb67 You should watch the British Christmas special "AD/BC", which is also a parody of the '70s "Jesus Christ Superstar", only it's the nativity story told from the point of view of the innkeeper.

  • Can, Bible-Belt Boy.

  • shut your mouth, red state.

  • dont you dare mix up freedom loving patriots defending the constitution with being a bible thumping christian asshole.

  • ha. god huh. there is no god....it's science

  • Thank you for your insightful post, broheim. Keep on raging against that machine.

  • Oh yeah, and then insinuating that Jesus was dealing is WAY too funny.

  • Loved it the first time I saw it years ago, Cross's awesome dance, Superstar reference, and I also love video golf. Tiger and I went 2/2 today on Stableford. :)

  • Forgive them god

    or don't

    Its entirely up to you.

  • Hey Jeepers!!!

  • check this shit out!!!!

  • CHECK THIS SHIT OUT!

  • This must be the biggest failure in Broadway history!!!!!!

  • NO! I was on the eighteenth hole!!!

  • Where does he get his money from it's driving us MAD!!

  • awesome jesus christ superstar reference

  • Great sketch, such an obscure reference to JCS musical, thanks for posting this, saw it a long time ago on HBO.

  • Mr. Show is/was the king of sketch comedy.

  • And the price was The State

  • My mind is clearer now!

  • "Hey man why cant you commit stop walking the line.. parents speak of videos and you play video golf and get high all the time, its ok to get high some times but all the time Now thats not fine!"

"NOOOOOOOOOOO" I was on the eighteenth hole! some people need some leadership...

cut me some slack I cant make up my mind get off my ass

    ROFLFLROFLROFLROFL

    i love this show

  • Think that's "parents speak of kicking us out."

  • omfg rofl thank god you uploaded this ive been looking all over for this

    fucking hilarious shittt!

  • I think the only thing i find funnier (or on par) is bob singing "I'm the hated milk machine".

  • "im not paying to cool the out of doors" lol

  • you know, i watched 'JCSS' for the first time the other day, then went to a youtube video of judas singing this song at the beginning of the movie and commented that he sounded like jack black (i hadn't seen the mr. show bit even) and got 'bad thumbed' out!

thoses folks are a bit sensitive...

  • man i love the guitar riff during that part where the camera keeps zooming in. it's like something from "the piper at the gates of dawn"

  • best album ever, and i compeltely agree

  • "Lucifer Sam" comes to mind when I hear that riff.

  • Almost all of the musical segments of Mr Show are classic. I love the way bob sounds like he's channeling John Cleese.

  • The zooms at 1:45 are fucking hilarious.

  • I think that's Sarah Silverman who gets bonked in the head with the rock after it bounces off Jack Black's head. I recall from the DVD commentary that her getting hit was an accident, but she saved the take by improvising that fall.

  • Who was the chick who threw the stone? She kinda looks familiar.

  • Isn't she on Big Love?

  • Jeanne Tripplehorn is her name.

  • wish "Ronnie Dobbs" was in it as well. lol

  • Yeah, they could've done a parody of the scene where the crowd decides between Jesus and Barabas, but here Jeeper's parents could take in Ronnie when they kick out Jeepers, and then he woulda sang "Y'all be Brutalizin' Me".

  • I mastered that golf game, got so good had to play with my toes at one point.

  • NOOOOOOOOO! I WAS ON THE EIGHTEENTH HOLLLLLLLLLLE!

Mr. Show remains one of my favorite tv shows of alltime.

  • With bits like the "Mustmayostardayonnaise" commercial, Mr. Show was one of a kind lol

  • Actually, it was "Mayostard" and "Mustardayonaisse". :)

  • Actually, Mayostard and Mustardayonnaise were combined to make Mustmayostardayonnaise in the final commercial. All 3 commercials are shown if you search Youtube for Mustmayostardayonnaise

  • In case you didn't know, it's a Jesus Christ Superstar parody.

  • no shit dude

    seriously, we all get it

  • I miss Mr. Show...Slacker God, Jack Black......"Hey Jeepers over here check this shit out!!" This is brillant.

  • ooh the endless zoom-ins are priceless
