@TheLegend1245 It depends. If it's a package that you need to sign for they typically call of text to let you know when they are coming. This is usually the day before. It's really neat because you can get them to deliver it elsewhere, like work, if you won't be home.
Other packages you get a card in your box and you pick them up at the post office
@TheLegend1245 - No, you don't need a PIN to use a debit card, unless it's ATM only. There's usually a funny symbol on the side/bottom of a debit card, called....oh for example, a VISA logo. Ya ever wonder why some merchants' slide your card & hand it back? You'll see it as "check card" on your bank statement. Don't worry, lots of people besides you are retards too
@Xentradi97 - That's odd, cause I've worked debit card disputes where the transactions have come out of Korea & other Asian countries; what you're saying then, is that people don't steal the mail, but they have no problem committing fraud in other ways?
@Prizmafrog2002 Korea, Japan and many other Asian nation is quite safe compared to the West and crime rate is low. But that doesn't mean there's NO crime. And are you saying because of handful of Fraud case you found in Korea and Asia, Fraud is quite prevalent in those countries?
I don't even want a mailbox. It's useless with all the spam & advertisements a mailman is paid to stuff into. Be away for a week and you need a crowbar to unstuff it. I don't need bills mailed, just email them. Nor do I need postcards. And if you get famous, then you need a p.o. box with security screening and someone hired to pick through the mail for important letters, while the rest is discarded.
this isnt just in korea, in hong kong and taiwan ect. they have these in apartments and usually theres a security guard in the lobby. its nothing special
its called mutual trust and koreans dont fuck around with other people' stuff. also. there are cctv watching that, and a security guard right next to it. so people know when you took someone else's shit.
@thebuddhamonkey Not where I live, its right next to my door, on a porch...or you can have a slot on your door, so ther only thing the mailman can do is slide it in there...

Awesome :( So people can steal your bank cards & buy themselves some goodies on your dime:(

@Prizmafrog2002 I think they still need a pin number to use a bank card.

@Prizmafrog2002 People don't do that over there. That's why no locks on the post boxes. That's the point anyway.

maybe due to the high collectivist and homogenous culture?
Same values = same belief system = safer public space?
i dunno but I did notice that there was a stronger sense of 'us' community mentality than US.

Identity theft?
mattmoran69er 1 year ago 2
Well, if you have a house in America your mailbox is usually on the side of the road with no lock, so it's even easier to steal.

umm if u c the mail boxs there is a key slot for locks i think so if u want u can lock it
ihateit2 3 years ago 82
@ihateit2 you can still lock it, but there is a wide hole on the top. That is reason why other mails are sticking out of the post box
nadasibam 2 months ago
@ihateit2 You can lock it, but you can still reach in with your hand on the flap on top and grab whatever you want. But no one ever does.
