  • Turtleneck! lol Neil is awesome.

  • im gonna be honest though i love neil young the only reason i clicked on this video is because of the sideburns

  • his voice sounds completely different

  • Damn the turtleneck is sexy

  • Best side burns ever.

  • Innarestin', innarestin' stuff (readers of "Shakey" will understand).

  • Well he does Look like Heathcliff with those side burns.

  • I use to watch Nightflight (USA network) pretty often, but seems I somehow missed lots of the most interesting bits.

  • i was 2 months old when neil did this interview , 26 years later i named my son after this amazing man

  • @MyAccount4TrollingU your an asshole

  • Wow. Who remembers this show. Its great that people have archives of old shows like this in decent enough quality that they can be uploaded. I love finding old gems like these on the internet. Its like walking into a time machine and seeing a part of you that you forgot all about.

  • this man has sideburns for days!

  • Oh right, as if nobody recognized that mutie with the claws from the so-called X-Men.

  • @Daycron66 I agree. He's the man. But I think he's got ADD or something. They were so good at Bridge and we on the East Coast deserved better, too.

  • I guess Jordan/Katie Price hasn't seen this then?

  • though i love neil youngs music..... the only reason i clicked on this video is because of those sideburns

  • Hamburg is in Germany. Then there were different usings for ,,Fritkadelle". Wendy, McDonalds, NORDSEE, Burger King, and frozzen at ALDI, LIDL, Penny and so on. Now, my question ist: Are you ever eating a Hamburger? Sorry. Its late.

  • King-size side-burns :)

  • fuckin rights NIEL

  • <3 his turtleneck sweater. So retro chic!

  • @Daycron66 have you thought about what he just said in the interview? Maybe, just like any FREE person can do, choose not to do something. It's called choice. peace to all free thinking indies. The springfield died in '67..get over it. (damn good band - until Again wrapped up)

  • @Daycron66 Really ? That's A shame ! Obviously not the first time he's pulled that. Just Neil being Neil . . .

  • living legend plain n simple

  • I love thousands of music artists, but maybe, just maybe, Neil Young has the most interesting, the most pleasureable, most satisfying (for himself and his admirers) and most idiosyncratic and anti-obvious lifework of them all. To steal from Todd Rundgren, he's a "Wizard a true Star". Yes, sir!

  • I love that about Neil.

  • Fuck Neil, you could trademark those burns

  • I hate celebrity culture too... maybe that is one reason I like Neil so much...

  • sideburns? where?

  • He almost cracked a smile, but caught himself in time... :-D

Nice clip; Neil has outlasted them all, and this sums up part of the reason why.

  • I'm more than glad he has other things he's more interested in.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • Neil doesnt need to explain himself.

  • Neil is the man! It's good to know some people have common sense.

  • Neil Young = one of the best humans ever

  • real talk

  • @BeginningBassist Ditto, and I'm not a poof. I love his turtle neck!

  • heathcliff huxtable: the jelllooooo pudding POP!

  • Has nobody heard "Revolution Blues" ?...you expect somebody from rural Canada to be a social monster ? ; )

  • @11xzxzxz "A shyness thing?" I think not. Just a simple case of wanting more privacy, given all he gives in time for all those humanitarian projects you mentioned and probably still, after all these years, still having people who want more from him, in the way of one more act of compassion by playing this or that benefit.

No, Neil has more than 'paid,' for his privacy as I see it.

    Peace.

  • @rockinroller7 Hey that was 3 months ago and I was stupid then. And I change my mind daily as I'm Shakey. And he does a lot of humanitarian work but those who worked with him often will tell you he is obstructive and obtrusive when dealing with people. Neil admitted this on the David Letterman Show in a way ..its on YT. And in Shakey I found that people thought he was difficult to deal with .. I never thought that before . Anyway he has changed a lot after recovering from a brain aneurysm

  • @11xzxzxz Oh, you mean, you were so much older then, you're younger than that now, lol!

My interpretation of Shakey and those who may have found Neil difficult to deal with is simply that Neil is uncomfortable dealing with people, perhaps being awkward socially, and in business matters, as he wrote of in songs in the early days, having to deal with record companies, and contracts.

But my bias will always make me a Neil defender.

    Peace.

  • @rockinroller7 Yeah dats what i mean. I meant Neil was not really nice to people in his bands back them or people on the streets or to his wife or to Carri Snodgrass (I got da pics). I dunno know. Yeah maybe he made a bad business deal with Geffen but he released a couple of bad records and hurt his adoring fan-base or free-base?

  • @rockinroller7 So socially awkward is what I meant by shy .. not that he is not going to express what is on his mine and on his terms or is scared of people. Yeah I would have been glad to see Geffen get it but I bought the records too. But I would move to your side and defend his music but I don't feel like I have to defend his actions.. most of which show his independence and courage. Peace, M

  • @11xzxzxz Great point about Neil needing no defenders. It's more to do with him being one of my personal "Fab Four," as in "Brown, Fogelberg, Harrison and Young."

    "BFH&Y."

You know my philosophy about never picking a favorite band or musician, but those four probably had/have more to do with how I wrapp(ed) my brain about the way one lives their life. With all due respect to The Kinks, it's more than juke box music, and in some cases you should take some songs, "to heart."

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 Hmm Rock you mean .. .. J BRown, Dan Fogelberg, George Harrison ..... and Ferus Young?? Oh well to each his own but you didn't have Ray Davies and Pete?

  • @11xzxzxz Yeah, there could be quite a long list. Ray and Pete would be part of it, but where?

I didn't even put the guys I listed in any particular order, even thought I now see they are alphabetical.

There are just too many, and I've got to draw the line somewhere.

In fact, even though I may have more Neil video's, that doesn't put him at the top of any list, just very influential.

Ferris Younglol! Long time since I heard that name.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @11xzxzxz True. To be honest, not that I have been lying all along, but I was so with Neil but those records dampened my view but he had every right to do them. And Neil could have been going through hard times then & Geffen & record companies can be huge jerks. Yeah - independence and courage - you got those in spades. If I were defining you; I can't really be so presumptuous to do but I try (ha), you would definitely have those 2 characteristic .. Down To The Wire (on my site).

  • @rockinroller7 I have no problem with what Neil said .. it rings true. But I also think he mostly doesn't feel confident before a camera (no fault of his own) when not on stage. A humanitarian not so fond of his neighbors. He doesn't talk or smile at his own neighbors not because of projects but that is just his nature .. Hell I moved back home. Notice the love and affection he has for his wife Peggi .. they must have had a bad fight .. "Neil Young - Four Strong Winds & When God made me"

  • @rockinroller7 But I mostly agree with you. I was being a contra-contrarian

  • @11xzxzxz "Contra-contrarian." I like that. And it fits, in a humorous, sideways way.

As for all the other you wrote, I saw what Neil said to Letterman. No different than talking to Bill Gates, as in the one's who hold the keys to the kingdom, and have to make the final decisions, whether they enjoy it or not, it's their "responsibility," to who knows how many other people it will effect financially, and I've never felt Neil is comfortable having that responsibility, as a "Loner."

    Peace.

    Rock

  • totally AWESOME!!!

  • Go neil

  • Yeah, well said Neil! I would love to see the rest of the interview!

  • I,m the very same way Neil, who needs it? The only thing i need is good music

  • This really looks like from 1969...very cool clip.

  • Neil has his priorites together. That is one reason why he has given us so much. Thank you Neil!
