  • The basics are good BUT you would want to splay multi-strand wire before twisting together whenever possible instead of twisting the end before twisting the splice together. Makes a much cleaner splice.

  • Dude, you expect me to listen to you as a self-proclaimed expert when you can't even pronounce "solder"???? I'm sure you know what you're doing, but it's pronounced "soLdering", not "soddering"! Is your Father "odder" than you? No, he's "older". Does your fridge make things "codder"? No. Just remember, older, folder, colder, holder, SOLDER! Now you know.

  • Great tutorial

  • Thanks I'm powering a treehouse with solar panels and now I know how to solder the wires:D

  • This video was worth it's time. Great tutorial.

  • good stuff. bout to install a new pickup into my guitar for the first time. has never used a soldering gun.

  • Best tutorial i have seen:) grrat job thanks a lot

  • Wouldn't hot wire damage electronic components?

  • thanks so much: clean, simple presentation.

  • nice job, no bs, right to the point, no brain surgery.

  • IT IS BEAUTIFULLY DONE!

  • I'm gonna ask about this little piece of solder every time you get on the tip..Is it for better heat transfer?

  • @baranismen Yes

  • Hey is your soldering iron control operating the lights?

  • why is it bad to apply solder to the iron?

  • great video. Quick question, if u do solder two wires together or u solder a wire to a terminal of a speaker and say u want to disconnect that wire from that speaker or from that other wire whats the easiest way to do that? thanks

  • Very helpful, thank you.

  • ¿You do not like using flux?

  • Great video, thanks very much

  • could you ever use to much solder??

  • thank you

  • is this studied and discussed in an electronic and communications engineering course?

  • This Was a very informative and interesting it was a great upload thanks for the upload......

  • Thank you for the tips. I always put the SOLDER on the IRON. Now my refrig works perfectly fine!

  • I can 't tin the tip of my soldering iron it just melts then just jumps off like the same poles of a magnet

  • Great tutorial! I was looking for instruction on soldering wires and using heatshrink tubing. You got close up and even explained how to properly twist the wires. Thank you.

  • thank you!:) i needed this vid to help me to be able to replace a speaker for my gameboy :) only thing, i haven't started yet, just wondering, if its normal for the iron to smoke out of its holes when its on? i just bought a iron but im kind of nervous to use it since it seems to give off smoke, is that normal to happen with a new one? its a 60W 110V/120V

  • @narutojasmine Yes some do smoke a bit when they are first used. 60W is a bit high wattage for electronics but it should work for wiring. Don't melt the speaker lead.

  • @narutojasmine mine did at first. But it has stopped with that now so its normal i think :)

  • Great video! Thanks!

  • Great video, thank you

  • thanx 4 the tips

  • 19,000 viewer!

  • I think this video is going to save me money on solder tips. I've wrecked 3 already. After this, I shouldn't have that problem anymore. Thank you.

  • sawder

  • Thank you

  • thaks cooll

  • This video was helpful. Thank you very much for your assistance.

  • Great video! beautifully done with the close up's. Most videos are much too far away and you can't see what the person is doing. This was great. Thanks.

  • @Gary1497 Your welcome and thanks

  • @X2YeZCAMCNC Hey I keep getting the cold solder thing, what do I do?

  • @Gary1497 Thank you, so wonderful is the world we live in !

  • Thanks for the video! I have realized I have been using solder that is too big for my application. I also need more practice...

  • Great Tutorial thank you mate! :)

  • Thank you very much :)

  • Great video! Can't wait to practice. Dang I've been doing soldering soooooooo wrong

  • This was very helpful!

  • Thanks a lot for this! I had been applying the solder to the iron and then trying to put it on the wire. No wonder I gave up trying to solder so quickly! :)

  • how do u solder contavt points on a game pcb board look at my video please

  • Thank you sir your videos will smarten anyone with a curiosity & maybe even pursue. You never know, your videos might cause the much debated Technological Singularity event or something neat for hospitals to save lives, etc...

  • @heatfilter You are welcome

  • very very very good! Thanks for the tips!

  • @SpankyTheHouseRat You are very welcome. Don't forget to subscribe eigh

  • 0.7 divided by 25.4 would be 0.028"

  • @X2YeZCAMCNC Roughly 0.031". =p Thanks!

  • What diameter solder do you recommend for general electronics work? As in soldering on a perforated circuit board and such?

  • @LauxHawk Tim, I recommend 0.7mm solder for electronics work

  • @X2YeZCAMCNC So like 0.031"?

  • @LauxHawk it depend of the size of your soldering. If you need to solder big power connectors on a PCB, you need 1, or 2 mm diameter of tin. For the classics components, you can use 0,5, 0,7, or 1mm. If you need to solder very fine chip, it's sure you need 0,4mm diametere tin.

In fact, there is some soldering technique where diameter is not very important, cause only the melting tin on the tip of the iron is used by "drag" on the component. So, all diameters are good.

  • can i do this with a lighter

  • your a pro but know try doing that with bigger wire like 8 G

  • your a pro but know try doing the inline splice with bigger wire like 8 G

  • what do you think of the WLC-100? Does it have ESD protection? and i've heard of the temperature being variable on this, what's your experience with it?

awesome video too man, really in depth

  • @scattrr No ESD protection Great variable heat function. Good for soldering wire in general. Not the best for small electronic surface mounted parts. Thanks

  • How about a video on putting a new end on an antenna cable for a vhf radio....salt water is hard on things

  • @cisjohn2616 What type of connector? PL-259

  • @X2YeZCAMCNC ...I am not sure of the type but it is a round screw on collar with a hollow tube that the cable slide in and the end gets soldered when the wire end comes through.....Most people just drill about a inch hole in the roof of their boat to put the whole end through instead of just the wire.....I think all vhf radios have the same connector....

  • Nice I like the twisting wire together technique. I usually just twist them one way. But if you twist one one way and one the opposite way . Its stronger. Good to know when wiring up my stereo deck in vehical. Thanks

  • @twiztid83222 You are welcome. Great to hear you find the information in this video useful. Thanks for watching!

  • @twiztid83222 How is it even possible to twist both wires "one way"? When making an inline connection, isn't the only possibility to twist the wire in opposite directions?

  • @Mangorunner21 You have to make sure that you cover all of the basics so that even your basic Pollock can understand. (*looks around* there aren't any Pollocks in here are there?)
