Engine and Turbo is not the essencial in a Drift race since the one that starts in front can block the one behind him.. the most important is how good the driver is, and how much does the driver know the car he's driving...

Bah, if you need turbo to win, what's the point? I love NA cars... 'sides, isn't turbo a lot harder to control? I ran an RX-7 and an MX-5 in every racing game I ever played, and I did pretty darn well.

(By the way, in the third Initial D arcade game, what's up with the Takumi race on the mountain? I get up to 200 m ahead of him but the time always runs out right before I can make it down...)

talking about the true speed of curves ^ ^ but have quite A turbo is just a fast NA fast response in the curves, it also depends on what car you drive like nissan R34 or impreza STI which have different turbos

Turbochargers give you a considerable torque increase over the same engine without it, but a tuned n/a does have bonuses like longer stretches between gear changed. I get this when some old fart in his turbodiesel powered barge that he thinks is powerful gets annoyed at me having the cheek to overtake him doing 40 in a 60 zone and tries to block me pulling in. I just wait till he runs out of revs at 5k and changes gear just as my MR2's TVIS butterflies open and i finish overtaking.

Just to add, It pisses them off even more when you overtake them in a 600cc smart car (my commuting car).

Well, you have to keep in mind that every diesel will have longer gears than petrol engined car. If gear ratios are the same, then the turbocharged car will have more torque delivered to the road and that means better acceleration. So the driver of turbo car will change gear before NA driver but that's because turbo car will be simply going faster than NA car by that time.

Well but diesels are crap, no matter turbo or not. All I said refers to turbocharged petrol cars.

Turbos harder to control? Well, it depends on the driver. More powerful car is usually harder to drive than a weaker one. If you drove a turbo car all the time, it' d be easy for you to drive one, if youre used to NA, then of course NA would the car for you.

To everyone who's been dissing the eight-six... I'll admit I much prefer an FC or an FD, but the eight-six beat the RX-7 in every international drifting contest ever. In fact, there is no better drifting car on the planet than the Trueno. Now, that's not much help on the circuit, but a good driver can use that to great advantage on a more technical map like Irohazaka or Akina.

I like the 86. It has a lot of character but to say it is the best car for drifting as if it's fact is just plain wrong. It's all about personal preference. I would prefer the S14, but then that's my choice.

I was talking about how they've actually performed during competition, and to my memory, the top dog was the AE86. However...
