@ballershanelle You are correct. I brought up the make-up question because I read color into your comment, since you mentioned "black" Broadway singers and the "green" witch. That was a misinterpretation on my part, just as you thought I was saying there are no Asian or black actresses talented enough to do the part of the green witch. Audra has won four Tony awards, two for musicals, she could easily do the part of the green witch, as could other black and Asian actresses.

@chicagosouthdan...u evidently are not aware of the vast number of blk, jullard or off Broadway trained actress. OMG, i don't know how to respond because of the shows going on now and coming to stage. U are not a theatrebuff. Reasons could be many but we can't say its lack of talent for the role.

I absolutely did not say that there are not black and Asian actresses talented enough for the role. I said that perhaps there has not been a talented black or Asian actress who has "expressed an interest" in the role. I am well aware of the fact that there are Broadway and Julliard trained black and Asian actresses, Audra being Julliard and Broadway trained.

@ballershanelle Audra has done non-Black roles, such as her Tony-award-winning role in Carousel, so she could probably get cast in that role if she really wanted to do it. Perhaps there has not been a talented Black or Asian musical theater actress (like Audra or the lady who played the lead in Miss Saigon, can't think of her name off hand) who has expressed a strong interest.

Are you sure about that? There are some F#s in there. So wouldn't that be G major. However, those F#s could just be accidentals.

Yes, the song modulates to Db Major. Those F#s are Gbs. Of course, if you want to think of Db Maj as C# Maj, then you can label them F#s. But Db is likely the preferred key signature for the piano - and orchestra.

Another indication of the key is her final note - Db - which sound like "do" or the keytone, and the orchestra's chord. She is singing the root of that chord - Db.
