My dog had to be put to sleep a few days ago, he got lymphoma from 2nd hand smoke! It was horrible to watch the poor thing suffer, with a huge puss-dripping lump on his throat. I tried everything to treat it, but it was untreatable. He finally could do nothing but lay around dry heaving and choking, and not eating or drinking. @caniolle I believe smoking represents a social dilemma more than an individual problem. Smoking will always be a problem because it is socially acceptable. Sure I can give advice to my patients and spend an hour talking to them, then what? I let them go back to an environment where they are constantly bombarded by smoking advertisements, smoking peers, and second hand smoke. A social redesign is needed, the doctors are just treating the symptoms, not the illness.
