In may I found a 1996 first edition blackbird with less then 4500 miles on the clock in a farmers barn , it had not been started in over ten years ! I put in a new battery fresh fuel and started her up without a problem . After a new set of rubber and an oil and filter change and 6000 miles later including full luggage panniers top box and pillion trips of over 400 miles in one day the blackbird has never once missed a beat after putting 6000 miles on her in the 5 months I had her before winter
a friend of mine let me take his blackbird out for a ride earlier this year... biggest mistake ever. 4 sleepless months later i found a 2000 blackbird in a dealership with 10,000 miles. HAD TO HAVE IT. living the dream ever since. so smooth and so powerful. what an awesome bike, i really cannot believe its 12 years old. this will be a classic some day, but that does not mean i will keep it in the garage. this bike was made for the road!
zzr 1100 where are they now? crap handling, busa shit brakes (brake fade). zzr 1400 nice bike not as refined as the honda blackbird cos the birds the word i should know i own one im also known as peter griffin. ;)
This is the moast confortable and reliable bike ever, and it's good looking too.
The busa and the zx-14 are faster, so what?! Are they more reliable like this xx ?! Is there someone ho rides 12/24 hours with 330 km/h?! Thumbs up for the xx.
I owned no. 000000186 built september 96. It was the carburettor model (42 mm semi flatslides). At the end of my life one of my great regrets would be selling that bike. God it was awesome
Yeah, that isn't an SR-71. Even if it was, the pilots wore space suits. The Blackbird is probably one of the greatest feats of two-wheeled engineering ever made. Amazingly fast and agile, but smooth as glass and stable handling too. And reliable! Mine's at 110,000 miles now:)
Yes great bike i got a 97 one with 9000 on clock.what you goto remember is it was the wolrds fastest prodution bike when released in 97.suzuki or whoever can make what they like after the event.but rememeber one thing..The Blackbird was the fastest production bike on the planet.the Busa and ZZr can never lay claim for FACT..
Fact is the ZZR11 was the fastest production bike for many many years before the Bird. And know what? The Bird only beat it by 1mph top speed. So shove that up your ass.
I've always loved the XX ever since I saw a commercial of it filmed on the Salt Flats of Bonneville or somewhere close to it. My dad had a friend who had an XX until a year after he bought it. He crashed it coming home from Laguna Seca. A sad end to a great bike.
My Blackbird just passed through 105,000 miles! It still runs like it's brand new. I wonder where this video was taken- somewhere in the Nevada desert, most likely?
Cool video, but it doesn't even begin to show what this bike is capable of. I own an '03 Blackbird and can do all of that in 2nd gear. It's a shame Honda has discontinued that bike... it is far superior in almost every aspect to the Hayabusa.
I have an '03 I bought leftover in '06. Put every single mile from 1 to 18,000 have driven them all, NOTHING on the planet compares to this bike nothing. One of the most well balanced, high horsepowerd, very comfortable at low speed up to 200+ like a warm knife through butter slicing air. bike is no toy and NOT for newbies this bike will kill you fast if you dont respect its torque and top speed. love this bike and want another.
It'll be slower, but pretty respectable for an eleven year old bike. I guarantee I'll be more comfortable while riding and in far better condition after 1,000 miles.
While I'm out there I won't have to apologize for the frightening styling of the bike like the riders of those other 2 machines will. (Yikes!)
i have to agree the blackbird is the best and so smooth and fast. i already have 50.000km down and only had to change the oil, tires and brakes. Honda is best.
Blackbird, indeed trusty etc, but most folk i know who have owned one (Hayabusa) end up selling because of the ride position and other personal factors and have traded for a Bird. Maybe my comment of the Busa being a pile of shit was a bit harsh, but Hayabusa is a bird which eats Blackbirds which is why Suzuki made and released and i being Honda through and through will always make empty comments about any Suzuki, but the back end does resemble a duck's arse, we must agree on that, lol.
97" Blackbird owner here. Great, I mean Great bike but the video does no justice. The clips in the video were just of a guy riding a bike. you can do that with any bike. there were no clips that showed the true nature of the bike. Cute pilot though. Had higher expectations from honda.
mine is 1997 with 34000 miles on it still ride the king top out 190mph

@BigPimpin56 I actually sold my Blackbird this year. It had ~70K miles and ran as perfect as the day it was new.

I laugh when people say the Blackbird is slow.
There is nothing slow about it, cruise on 110kms all day every day, I love this bike!

You really cant moan about a bike of that age that can do 90mph in first gear.
Oh and mines a red one and its lush.

98' model Blackbird owner here. I proudly ride this machine as much as I can, knowing that it still outperforms most newer modern bikes with ease.
Your wee 600 may slip away trough 1st and 2nd, but I'll squash you in 3rd anyway anytime. ;o)
The Blackbird is the motorcycle of all times, and that's the end of it!
Cheers!
