The marksman who has killed most enemies was a Finnish sniper named Simo Häyhä who demoralised the Soviet troops significantly by killing 546 Russians during the winter war. Notable with this great man is that he never used a scope.
Not using a scope wasn't a big deal. Considering most of his targets where generally close most of which under 300 yards. Which doesn't seemed to be mentioned often.

A great reason to why he never did was because he would've been forced to hold his head higher than without a scope... LOL...that goes without saying. I think the Gunny is the master. What he and Land accomplished in Vietnam was an incredible achievement for the USMC. To think up and implement sniper policy, strategy and training in the course of a couple of years during wartime was no easy task. Couple that with the fact that Gunny returned from missions he wasn't expected to return from or that he put the lives of his fellow Marines above his own.

@dontmakemeMAD1990 He did have the opportunity... but he preferred not to use one and therefore didn't. A great reason to why he never did was because he would've been forced to hold his head higher than without a scope... He was also extremely disciplined, he put snow in his mouth in order to exterminate the steam generated by breathing in extremely cold weather and he would tap the snow before him to inure it so that the snow wouldn't exude from the shot.

LOL...that goes without saying. I think the Gunny is the master. What he and Land accomplished in Vietnam was an incredible achievement for the USMC. To think up and implement sniper policy, strategy and training in the course of a couple of years during wartime was no easy task. Couple that with the fact that Gunny returned from missions he wasn't expected to return from or that he put the lives of his fellow Marines above his own.
