Yea, these dogs definitely need to be trained well. I once saw a young fully grown male being walked. I say "walked" in a very loose term... it was basiclally dragging the poor woman(whom probably weighed less than the dog) around wherever he pleased. These dogs... if they want to go somewhere... they are going there guys and gals. Train em!

their probrably 40 or 50 pounds at this age i wanna breed a st bernard with a mastiff and breed that mix with a pure blood Cordoban Fighting Dog [instinct] not to hard to bring back though just need to find out what made them up genetically... i want this 3 way mix up for massive size [st bernard & english mastiff] and a dose of agressiveness in their blood [cordoban] great for hunting boars without team mates

I purchased my St. Bernard puppy when he turned 4 weeks old and i paid $2000 for him. Which on the average they go for $1500 where i live, i paid the extra $500 because he has certified papers up to 6 generations on both the mother and father proving the pure breed. Also the fathers side of the family has had 3 awards in national dog shows and the mothers side has only had one. The more perfect the markings on the face and back can play a role in price as well, and mine has perfect markings.

Oh yes! They are the most easy going, people pleasers I have ever seen in a dog. My two adults house trained extremely easy. This breed is just the best in my opinion. They love to please their people and very obedient.

thanks for replying. how much exercise do they need, like if you had to compare them to another dog? are they the sort of dogs (generally - i know it depends on training) that just run off when they go off lead or will they linger around you?? and are they not really difficult because they aer so big? i really want one i just dont know anything about the breed, do you think that would be a problem?

I can only speak from my experience but honestly they do not require that much exercise. They are not high strung at all. They enjoy walks with me and I live in a rural area so I don't even have to leash them and they won't go far from me. They love to be with their people. They aren't difficult because they are so relaxed and easy going.
