I live in Sebring, Florida. This was by far our worst hurricane of the 4 that hit us in 2004. The constant blue flashes outside were so scary, my heart is starting to pound just thinking about it. The wind was so incredible, we could hear the bases of all the pine trees creaking. Of course we lost power for about a week and a half. Our power line came loose and was sparking around outside, which was dreadful. You are totally helpless in a hurricane.
dood jeanne, francis, and wilma scared the crap out of me. i live in palm beach county and wilma was a dead on impact with us. jeanne was super crazy. cars flipped over and trees fell on houses and screens. thank god bill passed by us. he would be like andrew.
i live in deland FL and i was there through all 3 of the storm in 04 and i would much rather have had on in the day than at night this storm was so scary cause u cant see a damn thing we were without power for about 5 weeks total
and me and my mom had a bet that we lost power and not cable and when we got a generator and i won cause when i turned the tv on it was on nick so igot 5 dollers :D
We were on vacation there at the time and stuck in the hotel 20 miles from the eyewall. It was intense. We stocked up on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a couple of days.
I apologize for the multiple consecutive posting if that's not allowed.
This video shows some unbelievable winds. It appears that the trees down here in "Hurricane Alley" are much tougher than the trees up here in Ontario. I mean, here, we get a derecho with wind gusts to 60 mph for only a few minutes, and we gets countless trees down. You guys get 100 mph+ gusts for at least an hour and yet a lot of trees stay standing.
AWESOME footage!!! It's amazing that winds in the southwest eyewall were that strong. During the eye and second half, it looks like you were right down the street from where I was in Port St. Lucie... I recognize all that debris in the road just before the onramp to I-95.
thanks god where i live its right next to a hospital so we get our power back the same day or next day.

Riviera Beach is the crime capital of Florida. 99% of the population is scum. Too bad this hurricane didn't remove it from the map.

Scary? Really?
I want to do some hurricane camping.
Nothing "scary" about hurricanes in my opinion.

@ministercreek make sure you do your hurricane chasing at night. day hurricanes are bloody boring.

that storm:
1.scared the wee out of me, in Palm bay, it was a good reason to stay up that night.
2.did a number on everyone's houses.
3.knocked our power out for only 27 hours.
4.and it showed the best and the worst in the locals.
