  • The man.... period.

  • Does anyone knows this pedal effect? Rotovibe? Uni Vibe?

  • does anybody know what kind of uni-vibe he was using here? or at all?

  • The first time I saw him was in 1987 and I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY. For the first 30 minutes I was going out of my mind because I was absolutely convinced there was a second guitarist hiding just out of sight.... the sounds he was making were UNBELIEVABLE. Not to sound cliche but it was truly a spiritual experience for me.

Fortunately, I was able to see him three more times before he died. I've only cried for the death of one stranger in my life and that was SRV.

    See you in Heaven, friend...

  • castles made of sand :D

  • finger in ass to nose, hello. Now that's a classic.......

    Maybe coffee?

  • LIke how he refers to his giutars as woman...

Then I gota bunch of cheap woman that look expensive but who dont sing as much as bitch and whine.

  • Great Musicians, sadly, do need to die. Or else what would it be like if they were still alive? Great, but no so great other than dead. Think about it, They were here and made an impact in our lives. Why Is it that we lose all the Good Ones? Its like theyve dunn enough in a very short amount of time, & off they go. Jim Morrison, Jimi Hindrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, and Stevie Ray. R.I.P. You All are very Missed and very loved, and Your Music Lives On, and still moves our souls.

  • we love and miss you in Austin, Stevie!!!!!!!

  • what does he say at 0.47?

  • @theberto

    better turn it down, sometimes

  • that reporter was goin crazy when he started playin, haha, he loved it!

  • look at all the amazing musicians that have died SRV, ,Randy rhoads, Dio, John Bohnam and cliff burton. Holy shit God must be having a ridiculously amazing concert

  • You can hear Jimi's style in his playing, which was quite an asset 4 him back then! He's the first guitarist besides Hendrix that I had ever seen play an entire solo of a song with his guitar behind his back without missing a note! He also said during a vid. interview that he practiced so much that the tips of his fingers would literally peel back & he would just take & super glue them back on! Now that's dedication! lol.

  • SRV 4 EVR

  • interviewers are idiots, let's face it. "were you ambitious?" NO SHIT

  • @MrBenIPresume I love it...Were you ambitious and Stevie is like "what ever that means, I was tryin ya" This interviewer is a dumbass hahaha

  • Stevie was somethin' else.... simply Great!

  • All time favorite band ACDC, but SRV comes a DAMN CLOSE 2nd, its hard to even attempt to emulate his sound on a gibson

  • "Show me how to put feel into it.."

Stevie shoulda said "get the fuck outta here guy..."

"If you have to ask, you'll never know.."-----RHCP

  • Al Pacino interwiew?

  • he made his guitar talk

  • He was only 36, Born Oct. 3, 1954 and died Black Monday Aug. 27, 1990. It seems like he lived longer. Just think of all the music he had in his mind to just to play, Only lived to 36. I think the Kid of 14 or so can't measure up, but we will see. Would it be a good thing?

  • srv makes me feel unworthy to pick up a guitar. its a shame he was taken from us so fast.

  • God I miss him ... thanks for sharing this!

  • Very interesting video!! So surprised that during the cource of the video, When the interviewer asked him, What got his interest in guitar ... That he didnt mention Albert King, Or Jimi Hendrix ... Hes been quite candid about that in other interviews ... Thanks for sharing!!

  • He used drugs and alcohol. But he was awsome guitar player AND singer.Today, those Metal,ROCK if we can call that rock players using drugs and alcohol and they dont know about music or anything. So R.I.P,SRV.

  • What about this White Guitar? That is not Fender...

  • 4:55 I love how stevie ray says hes not joking :D

  • he had the Jimi Hendrix wah pedal._.

  • Stevie Is such a chill dude, would of loved to have met him

  • Who's the fucken boner interviewing him?

  • Stevie: Well it depends...*plays Castles Made of Sand* You can caress it, or you can sting it *ping* *news reporter jumps back and almost craps in his pants*

    I lol'd

RIP Stevie, nobody could sting it like you.

  • Hes is and will always will be my number1 idol and guitar slinger. The music world has never been the same without him.

  • there wase no one like Stevie

  • And would be better off without the latter.

  • Fucking Americans. If it ain't drugs it's the bible. He needed neither.

  • @Demojunky73 dude chill.... really... immature

  • Did you listened to the beatles on the radio?

  • I love SRV. and I think the interviewer does a great job too.

  • I cried the day he died, and this video brought tears to my eye today. WHAT A MIGHTY SOUL!!

The feel, the sound, the humility... Truly touching interview. RIP Stevie.

  • I cried the day he died, and this video brought tears to my eye today. WHAT A MIGHTY SOUL!!

The feel, the sound, the humility... Truly touching interview. RIP Stevie.

  • how fucking unreal was he honestly none better

  • I didn't know that TEXAS had a NAVY?? When was it disbanded?

  • In blues guitar, even after death SRV is still a mighty king in the land... may he RIP, as a proclaiming Christian - he conquered drugs by the power of the blood - he's now with the King of Kings: Jesus Christ, I can't imagine him not playing in heaven.

  • man this to god givin good. love him.

  • GRANDEEE!!!!!!! ARGENTINA

  • He's so high... lol.

  • "if I didn't (feel it) I shouldn't be there."

  • oh man, how jealous am i of that interviewer....sitting right next to him....i couldn't ask any questions....id be too busy just staring in awe!!!! too bad i wasn't old enough to appreciate his music when he was alive i was 6 lol...but i do now....your legacy lives!!! RIP SRV.....

  • Why did you have to leave us?....Man...NO ONE plays the guitar like my man SRV....pure magic...

  • What a great guitarist he was......I think he'd been smokin' sumthin' before this interview tho.......

  • Stevie had the best blues voice.

  • he looks like a pirate and its the coolest thing ive ever seen

  • "You were discovered..." "By my parents. I popped out & my parents went "There he is!" " Love it!!

  • Well to be quite honest with everyone here you know he was fairly high but man i know he sobered up when he got older only the good die young

  • Very cool interview. He was completely absorbed into playing guitar. As aspiring guitar players, we all want to be like Stevie in one way or another. What an incredible player.

  • Got a lot of my playing style from him. Unique in his own way. He will be missed physically but not spiritually. He is a part of every new guitarist out here

  • do they still sell V-nex like that and was it chilly that day??

  • What is with this interviewer? I don't care what era this was....omg!

  • This guy was spun in this vid....

  • who endorsed his guitar? Micke...MAllll what?

    thanx

  • Srv is a legend...this interviewer, is a dumbass

  • What many people forget about Stevie is, that he had committed his life to Christ and is in Heaven playin his rifs for God.

  • @Bird1777 After he got off of drugs? Seriously want to know?

  • What is so tragic about ol' SRV...he was HEAVILY into drugs and alcohol...managed to kick them all, only to die in a freak helicopter crash. Read the book "Caught in the Crossfire"...at one point, he would dissolve a gram of cocaine in a shot of whiskey to wake up in the morning. TO WAKE UP! Sheesh, that's hard living.

  • @jesuschrysler123

    Yes. Yes it is.

  • @jesuschrysler123 We can't judge him for his behavior. Please talk about the musician and don't forget you probably have a lot of defects, simply different of his or any others'.

  • @wagnertful ...wasn't trying to judge him for sure, we all have our demons no doubt. I was trying to state the tragic irony of him finally straightening out his life only to be killed in a freak accident. I imagine how much great music we'd have today if he were still around.

  • @jesuschrysler123 dude he went clean damn u dont know shit >:/

  • @musicismylife5876 are you blind?

  • @CrazyTrain0111 how dude he went clean for over 5 years.

  • @musicismylife5876 He says in the comment that he kicked drugs.

  • @musicismylife5876 I know he went clean, read my comment...he kicked all his addictions and ended up dying in an accident. It's tragic, he's my absolute favorite musician, I'd never judge him.

  • @jesuschrysler123

so what? I stick my finger up my asshole then place that finger under my nose and inhale deeply to wake up. now THAT'S hard living.

  • wow this dude was a good player :)

  • he was in to a lot of coke....

  • Do you think that is much better SRV's songs than Eric Clapton's or the opposite?

  • it's good to hear that Hendrix left an Heirloom hahaha =)

  • oh boy...I love this guy playing....he left us too soon....

  • 6:35. Thickest guitfiddle string I've seen in my short life.

  • rofl what a dumbass news guy asking stevie ray if he was influenced by the beatles...hes a blues player not a pop player

  • No matter how many times I see Stevie Ray and hear him is never enough! He was most definitely an 'original'. You can see SRV's heart and soul everytime he spoke, sang or played. Stevie, we all miss you so very much, but know one day we will all be together- forever! Till then, we'll just have to keep on listening to what you left us via cd's, dvd's and computer sites such as this one. Thanks for the great gift you gave to all of us- we love ya!

  • These are the kind of videos that really make me appreciate youtube. Never would of saw it otherwise. Always missing you Stevie. We don't get many like you.

  • Stevie didn't die. He went home.

  • JIMIS WAH WAH!!!!

  • @KInggomez64 i know man!!

  • he is on coke here i believe

  • @mattfeigenbaum, Stevie?!

  • SRV & Hendrix; cosmic soul brothers. This music almost makes me believe in God.

  • wow

  • well he was asking when u dont put feeling into a note what does sound like? but when u but feel into it u care more

  • The man's a tool but he did ask some good questions. What a decent person Stevie is unlike some of those other arseholes that call themselves musicians thesedays. Hendrix was the same in an interview - honest, quietly spoken but supremely confident.

  • just amazing to see how he can play that well. blues is hard to learn for real but it comes from ur heart.

  • srv for ever!!!!!!!!!

  • thank god i got to see him live

on CStW and Texas Flood tours

for an encore at one show his brother came out and sat in a chair with a double-neck

and started playing the bottom neck

then Stevie came out, walked up behind him and started playing the top neck

    un-freak'n-believable

    god bless SRV

    then

  • "well you feel it first and then you learn how to do it. it takes a whole lifetime..." damn. that and every time time he plays the guitar are my favorite parts of this video

  • "could you do anything with it right away?" ????

What a dumbass. I don't think this guy has ever picked up any instrument in his life!!!

  • SRV one man...one legend

  • this man is the fuckn beast>>>

  • daaamn, at 3:15 he was doing castles made of sand! i would have loved to hear him do that song

  • respect.

  • this interview was during stevies alcoholic years thats why hes acting so weird

  • booze & dope...

  • @GuitarJackson213 he isnt acting weird... this is who he was and he was a great human being. everything he says in this video is real talk; much respect

  • We miss you brother,, S.R.V. - R.I.P.

  • @pcycosocial :((:((

  • Wow. Fucking great interview. Musicians can't get anymore real than this.

  • Frogtoad - The Jimi song was actually "Castles made of sand" ;-)

  • Effin' GOLD! I literally welled up when he played that little intro riff from "the wind cries..." I know, I know, I know. Jimi and SRV are two diff ppl but it was so awesome to hear that!

  • What effects does he have

  • Nothing more than TS808 tube screamers and a wah...sometimes an old Uni Vibe. Other than that it was his thick gauge strings and tube amps. Not to mention the feeling. As far as the tone on the white guitar he's playing, it his lipstick tube pickups that were wired special buy his guitar tech.

  • Dude that sounds like a lot more than just a ts and feeling. Could that warbleish sound he has going on in some parts he plays be the univibe. I dont use that effect I have a chorus

  • Most likely that's his Dumble Steel String Singer, it's an old dumble amp that gives a vibrato type tone...somewhat similar to a vibe. Can't see his amps though but it was definitely one of his amps he used a lot. Gave him that tone on Cold Shot.

  • Dumble Steel String Singer has a built in Uni-vibe type sound? News to me! Sounded great. I was wondering if he was using a Uni-vibe or not.

  • @MoreGilmour that cold shot is with the leslie, the sound i herd is more like maybe the reverb that the fender combo has. but i could be wrong.

  • whaaaat?!? SRV had Jimi's old wah???

  • Yeah, not sure where or how he got it though. It was eventually stolen.

  • unbelievable

  • no it wasn't stolen Jimmy Vaughn has it safely stored away

  • No he uses 2 vox wah pedals. He some time duct tapes them together and uses them both at the same time.

  • Stevie seemed really high which he was a lot around this time period but he sounds great.

  • Stevie was great....his playing is soothing and puts a fire under your ass at the same time..

  • "Were you ambitious?" "Well, whatever that means, I was trying." Gotta love Stevie!!!

  • Damn its hard to see steve like this. So out of touch.

  • Well maybe he can't speak right cuz of drugs and sounds stoned, but his playing never slipped until the very end before his breakdown

  • when stevie played castles made of sand and when he "stang" it, the interviewer shat himself.

  • Comment removed

  • danelectro lipsticks

  • "I popped out and my parents went 'there he is"

  • This were hard times for SRV. Too mutch abuse on drugs.

    CP

  • What kind of drugs was he into?

  • Alcool and Cocain.

  • and scag right?

  • he mixed royal crown with cocaine.

i think it was royal crown?

  • crown royal

  • hahahah oh i said royal crown hahah.

  • the interviewer is pretty dumb. not going to lie

  • Interviewers always semm to come across as corny twits when they interview rock leagends. Not sure why.

  • i kno he was like , and he helped wit ur guitars, wow

  • he seemed like a cool guy in person

  • i hate him.

he is far too good on the guitar.

RIP what a talented musician, they always die fast.

  • RIP

  • no. he DOES play the intro of castles in the sand.

  • People should respect that this may be the only video where we can see Stevie play "Castles made of Sand"

  • yea man he shouldve played the whole song

  • Please, can someone tell me what is the name of the song that he played and sang?he said it,but i couldn't understand...

  • 'Life Without You'

  • What an awesome musician and human being Stevie was. Obviously the interviewer didn't have a clue but Stevie went with it anyway. I think it's one of the better interviews I've seen, not because of the guy interviewing but because of Stevie. A different view of Stevie than the usual I think.

  • what kind fucking dumb question is that: "show me how do you put feeling into every note"

    THAT MAN IS AN ASSHOLE

  • @chuecco Not really bro it's a good question to ask a blues musician i think from watching this interview he put his research into the blues.

  • @chuecco - I know what you mean, Chuecco...I am Canadian and this was a local morning programe...at 10am this was a show for blue-haired grannies...the Host was very corn-ball...this is why they say Canadians are so polite...we have better morning shows now, thank God...;)

  • @chuecco Come on, give the interviewer a break. He obviously is not a guitar player and is trying to help the general public learn the different styles Stevie plays.

  • @tothatextent yeah maybe youre right, its just that if had the chance to speak with srv i wouldn't be asking such questions, but probably my questions would bore general public.

On a side note, i was watching this video again and i think that if i was the interviewer i could not resist to ask stevie to hold one of his guitars...

  • @tothatextent

Agreed. He's a nice guy, doing his best, just not a musician.

  • he respected his brother so much...

  • RIP SRV

  • It is Stevie, not Steve and it is Vaughan and not Vaughn.

  • t seems all the good musicians are dead, undiscovered, old, winding down their carriers, or partailly retired...now were left with a big steaming pile of hanna montana and jonas brothers pop rock crock...god they can suck my cock....let's bring back some "real" music to this country !!!

  • His music is just such a huge and beautiful mix of so many things. He is completely unique. I love you Stevie in the Lord, rest easy in Heaven.

  • What an incredible honor just to sit next to Stevie and hear him sing and play...especially that song...wow...

  • "or you could sting it, you know ?"

  • My favorite guitarist EVER!

  • the best guitarist ever to completely submerse himself mentally into his music, and mean every note that he plays. his emotions are shown so well through playing his guitar, thats how he speaks to us and the world.

  • his first wife's a babe......

  • vaughan, people, vaughan!

  • that interviewer is Peter Feniak + they talk about SRV's 3rd album release, so do the math

  • Grammy awards, sold out houses around the world and prizes. >>> NOT MUCH

Touching the very essence of our souls with his music >>> EVERYTHING.

This interview was the best I've seen about him so far, thanks a lot.
