  • Thanks for the review, Been looking at this model and the p250. The reviews for the sp2022 have been better than the p250. Most complaints have been with the trigger pull. Jury is still out on this one but for the price I bet it I could justify it.

  • Great Review. Like you, I share the same sentiments on how awesome this pistol is. I picked mine up 9mm and couldn't be any happier. It shoots IMHO very accurately and recoil is very manageable (granted I shoot the 9mm cartridge). No stove pipes, no FTF, no FTE just flawless. My only problem is finding time to escape from work and the family to go out and shoot it.

  • @RTmiklo I shot one in .40 180gr FMJ today. First time I ever shot a pistol, was wondering if .40 would kick harshly.

Recoil was smooooth! Not too much and not too little. Just right. No reason to go down to 9mm (.356) unless maybe ammunition affordability and [theoretically] quicker target acquisition.

  • got to see my sig sauer pro at the dealership after it was mailed from the company I bought it from. I couldnt pick it up since there was no date on it. "whatever that meant". but they have to hold it for 3 days. I pick it up tomorrow. my first handgun. I carried one in the military. I'm looking forward to it.

  • Thanks so much for this video! I was considering a P229 as a CCW. Didn't know the P2022 existed, and love that it's a $400 sig. Wouldn't mind so much a $400 sig getting dinged up nearly as much as a $1000 gun would irk me getting dinged up.

  • I,ve seen a brand new sig pro 40. jam alot when my friend took it to the range to test. Is there a break in period? I could tell by the look on his face that he was mad. Also when he got it out of pawn we went to the range and he shot it dry without lube. It jammed and would not go into battery without a slamming the back of the slide forward. not sure about hell and back reliability? maybe he got a bad one. It did shoot tight groups and I like the ergonomics.

  • @TheNopedawg yes, almost all new semi automatic pistols need to go through a few hundred rounds to be broken in. The components need to settle in, mate, and all work together, which is what a break in period is for. Your friend must not know too much about firearms if he didn't realize he needs to break in his pistol.

  • @vcMalice funny, all new guns jam and work issues out after a couple hundred rounds? Never saw that with any of the pistols I bought new. When you buy a new car does it break down a few times before you put a couple thousand miles on it? I think his sig either sucks, or he was limp wristing or ammo or something. Now I could see how like a 1911 with parts with tight tolerances need time to break in but a budget sig at $550 should just shoot. I dun know maybe I am just used to glock reliability.

  • @TheNopedawg I didn't say ALL. I own a Glock and expect it to work out of box or I'd take it back. Firearms such as the one in the video usually need a break in period. Your analogy with the car does not apply at all with firearms, though.

  • @TheNopedawg I'm sorry your friend was having so much trouble. I'm not sure why. Could be the ammo, user or any number of reasons. I would start out by taking it to local gun smith to look it over. I usually do that with any gun I buy used before I shoot it.

  • @Asheepdog001 it was brand new from sportsman's warehouse. When it went to pawn it had a couple hundred rounds through it. When it came out of pawn we wen straight to the range which is why it had to be shot dry. In a sense it was a unintentional torture test without oil. After it we cleaned and oiled the gun it started functioning again with a jam every once and a while.

  • @TheNopedawg Just curious, did he clean it before he shot it, may sound like a stupid question but I had a similar problem with a beretta that I bought. Shortly after I got it, I deployed for a year and when I came back and shot it, it was real finnicky like that, slide not going all the way forward. It turned out being the factory gunk they coat the weapons in which had dried some on the frame where the slide rides, so I just really cleaned and lubed that area and never had a problem since.

  • @spartan0120 once cleaned and re-oiled the gun performed better. The pistol still jams sometimes which I know all automatics do, but to have this happen to a new gun. My buddy offered to sell it to me for $250 bucks w/ night sights but I went with a new which I guess have less problems when been broken in.

  • It takes p226 mags?

  • Not sure, I don't have a P226 to try it with maybe someone else can say.

  • @fetus2genius1 No, but will take 2009, and I think 2340. But definitely not 226/229 etc.

  • @Loiyaboy 2009 in 9mm... 2340 in 40 or 357 sig. Sorry

  • @fetus2genius1 no it does not take p226 mags, but it does use the sig pro 2340 mags or 2009 depending on your cal.

  • I also have this pistol and can attest to its accuracy, trigger pull, and durability. The sights are really good specially with the illuminating dots. Recoil is very manageable and double taps are easy to settle down with the second shot.

  • I have this gun in .40 s&w and love in nothing bad to say about it

  • i have this gun in 9mm,i agree the trigger is amazing, smooth right out of the box.would like to get the .40 next.good review.

  • How's the recoil? I'm looking for a soft-shooting .40 S&W for the range.

  • GREAT PISTOL!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's what I carry, One of the best gun I have fired.

  • your answer about the webcam is yes.

  • my buddy just bought this gun!! waiting period is up monday!! then to the shooting range

  • Did you record this with a web cam from the early 90's?

  • I just bought one new, I'm in the 14 day waiting period. Can't wait to get it and try it out.

  • Yes, the Sig pro history starts with the pistol originally developed as a .40 S&W introduced in June 1998 as the SP 2340 model, followed by a version in .357 SIG (which retained the same model designation). About one year later, a 9x19mm Parabellum variant, the SP 2009, was introduced in response to demand for the type. The SP 2022 entered service with the French Police and Gendarmerie in 2002 for a planned service life of 20 years, hence the name. This is all be found on wikipedia.

  • I shot the 9mm version of this gun last year and I love it. This is made for the 20 years French police contract (2002 to 2022). Hence the name SP2022.
