I have what I call 'optimized saves' in my SH3 files; that is, I killed all the enemies and then backtracked to earlier save points to save again. I did this with the shopping mall, the subway, and the underpass, so I could walk through these dark, blood-stained, haunted spaces with the leisure of melancholy contemplation. The gorgeousness of this video resolution reminds me why this beautiful game induced me to do this.

Hey buddy I just bought all the Silent Hill games for PC, really funny to have these games again!

The problem I am having is to play them at 1080P. The game does only let me play at 720P and I was wondering if you know how to fix that? It would really make me enjoy the game even better!

@CJAdy yeah this whole project was realy to see what kinds of limits are available for 1080p, youtube has a 5min limit for 1080p videos ... unless you pay for it. At least at the time it was. And my hardrive was FULL because of the massive size of these videos. So i had to get rid of it and rid of it fast. So i settled with 720p at the last second and atleast though its nice to have the camera far back and widescreen so its not a total loss

@barbienortena lol this is true to an extent, and if you dont know what your looking for i can see how easy it is to see it as simply the same. The difference is the PS2 maximum resolution is 256×224i to 1280×1024i on later models, and the image is square, when some thing goes "HD" it mearly is increasing the pixles up to 1920x1080p. I also made it so that it could be rectangular or widescreen without stretching the image. As well as pulling the camera slightly further back so you can see more

i for one would actually like a remastered copy of SH2/SH3 1:85:1 gameplay would be awesome the only MINOR complaint i have (more like note) is the voice acting in SH2 HD, SH3 never really had spectacular voice acting to begin with.

@miasmablk Funny considering that i made this before the HD collection was even out. So the one good news is that you can get both SH2 and SH3 for the PC to run at 1080p with everything original so never was a loss in the first place

whats the difference? I play it in my Win7 and looks the same alot brighter though but its SH it doesnt have to be bright.

@lMaiLi yeah there is a slight difference this is cut from both Win7 and Winvista Vista runs a bit darker and because of my computers stats runs a tad bit slower. The other difrence at the time was that Winvista was runing at 16 colors, while Win7 Naturaly runs at 32 colors, i just didnt know at the time

The PS3 version may be better due to the remastering, because this is just the regular version switched into HD, but same details. Hopefully they do better, RE4 wasn't what I expected when they said HD, it just looks brighter.

Lossy RGB compression in ol fraps = Color loss, looks not EXACTLY like in realtime (more like 16bit). =(

With FOV patch you can tune damn FOV but only manually, so proportions might be not perfect. Think it s better to record in 1440p, then crop it to 1080p --> perfect proportions, everything in sugar & rainbows! =)

PS: noise effect = off, Textures 4K --> we need NO FUCKIN REMASTERS!

@MrFrogjab Good call, infact it jumps back and forth from 16bit to 32bit, the reason being i was testing both to see how much lag would pick up from the recorder. So that added to Fraps already compression. True i should have recorded in at least 720p, for as i learned with youtube you cant upload 1080p past a certain time limit. So the video required being compressed again down to 720p. ... personally i think it died once team silent was out of the picture but oh well

@Dorianwildegray btw now im workin on recording it. but without some film effects or something, just cut-scenes but in pure crystal 1080p quality. luckily my pc can handle it (4Kx2K textures, 1440p, LosslessRGB, ne=off) but the framerate not so stable on heavy lightning scenes, but it's not annoying with godly amazing picture quality. i transcode it with x264 codec using very hard preset and avisynth editing. maybe i'll bring it on a tracker sometime.

I bought the PC version in 2003 too. Very good graphics for that time and even today it doesn't look bad at all.

Even though it's a horror/survival game, I have great memories playing this game, it was a good horror experience.

well Fungo's sh2 the movie wasn't so HD to me, very recompressed full of artifacts dark and blurried picture. but it should be that he recorded it long ago, so the h264 codec wasn't exist or something...

Would it take this long if you just want to adjust the FOV? I changed it in the DISPI file, and it make it look great, but didnt change the FOV.

@grendelee whoa you found a way to change the resolution permantly? i just finished a 'how to' make it 1920x1080 but it requires a 20min setup every time. There is a FOV patch, one of the commenters put a link to that file. But i'm very curious as to where you found out how to change the DISPI file

@Dorianwildegray just go to save data and edit the "disp" file, select wanted resolution and then use the FOV. Well at least is what I do. The change is permanent unless you go to settings in game, if you do that it will reset.

Looks good. Youtube's compression definitely doesn't do this justice, I've started a similar SH3 HD series on my channel. Unfortunately it compresses 1080p videos so heavily that it's tough to get the same impact as the non-Youtube versions. Oh well.

@MrNasty911 Good question this took the longest to discover how to do with SH3 SH2 has an easy patch that is now extinct online for some reason, but SH3 uses a tax program that can be used to hack games. In this case forcing variables while its running. you have to manually go in and change every 800 to 1920 this is very frustrating for the lone fact it will take roughly an hour to setup and you must do it every time you want to play. i may do a how to vid

@MrNasty911 oh sorry, dislexia, i misread your response. the FOV i wasn't patient enough to do the math for it especially after the long setup, so i eyeballed it, basically went to some thing perfectly spherical like the save symbol and manually adjusted it till it was a perfect circle the reason mostly is so i could pull the camera out more and show more. it it was done normally the camera will be a lot closer
