It would've been more interesting with Hellmuth holding the AQ.. when that 8 turned he woulda been off his seat, pacing around, "this is BEEPing BEEP BEEP the BEEP calls with BEEPin A8 i mean BEEPin BEEP what BEEP did this BEEP BEEP put me on" unaware that he got saved again on the river.
You see their reaction to this shit? I see this every day all day on pokerstars. thats expected in online poker. I have so many hands saved from pokerstars. Just one that happened a few days ago. I limp with 67 diamonds, flop comes 89 diamonds and 5 of clubs. Turn comes 10 of diamonds giving me a str8 flush. I bet and get reraised hu. I ship it all he calls. then the J of diamonds rivers and hes holding the QK of diamonds giving him a higher str8 flush.

ZOMG it's like getting your penis chopped off, then having miracle longer one sewn back on and thinking "yeh man!" and then having it chopped off again.
@lanuk33 what i meant to say it is *like* a bad beat - after the euphoria of hitting the only 8 in teh deck on the turn, then to have it taken away on the river is just sick. anyway i'm sure you dont need to me to explain you da poker EXPERT you probably won 15 bracelets or something already *bows*
@everyonedoesit2 on Live poker they show the hands where something happens as shown on this video. and as to it being rigged the cards get shuffled like any other normal tornament
@gannon233 Please don't interpret my sarcastic comment as genuine belief that live poker is actually rigged. I know how live poker works, and how TV poker works. Actually, on poker after dark, they tend to show most of the hands played - not just the super-interesting ones like most shows
This reminds me of a hand I saw once. QQ vs KK all in preflop. Q on flop, K on turn, Q on river. Three lead changes. 2 outer, 2 outer, 1 outer. Now that's sick.
online this happens at least once a day and live if u play fulltime u might c it once every month maybe it just doesnt add up plus nobody knows if online is rigged or not only the people who made the software do but i guess if u win at it then its on the up and up and if u lose its easy to blame on a computer but who knows
a skilled player knows how to minimize his loss upon bad luck, but maximizes his winnings upon good luck. that's the only difference between a skilled player and an amateur. which is actually the most distinguishing and important feature.
@SPlKEY That's oversimplifying matters a bit as bluffing doesn't really factor in there. A good player can often win even with bad luck and the worst cards.
@SPlKEY There are also aspects like table selection which is so important to the professional. Pros pick tables where they don't have to rely on luck so much: their game gives them such a huge edge over their opponents that they can often win even with a very cold deck. We don't see that on television since it's not exciting watching pros grinding.
@stinky472 I wish they did show the pro's grind, it would be better education. It is frustrating to play a game with someone frequently going all in with semi decent hands because they see the pro's do it based on position and stack size etc. "I saw Helmuth go all in with this hand", when they should ask why he did it. The final tables we see on TV are 12 hours condensed down to 1. Players throw all in first hand with low pockets because of the action they see on the highlights not a full game.
@speebyda do you know whats more annoying than people that know nothing about poker? People that know nothing about poker but pretending to be some sort of expert....
@speebyda It'd be nice but probably boring to the masses. I actually like that people do things like 3-bet shove small PPs to a UTG raise in the early stages of a tournament as a result of watching only the exciting, edited segments of pros playing on TV.
He got his money in bad and lost in the end.The order of the cards was six for sure (thank you, Phil), but once money was in, SAME FIVE CARDS were gonna come out in the end regardless.
If all 5 cards were shuffled face-down and flipped up at the same time, it wouldn't be sick at all.
Hands like this show EXACTLY why no one should count their outs after flop or turn. The only thing that matters is how you got the money in
@soonermagic24 Not really. You are looking at an all-in hand, which most poker hands are not. Putting your chips in before all cards have been delt is more heavily luck based, but most high-end cash game players don't do that most hands.
Poker is a game of skill. That skill is making the right decisions.
@soonermagic24 If it was more luck than skill, there would be no professional poker players. There are thousands of professional poker players who prove that it's more skill than it is luck.
@OMGtehWINNAR Sorry, but A LOT of luck is involved. thats why amatuers beat pros all the time. take golf for instance, you put 25 pros and 25 amatuers in one tournament and the top 25 will ALL be the pros. Do that for poker and the leaderboard would be completely spread, and you never know would actually win. Not saying its 100% luck, but probably more than 50% if you're wanting to win a sit and go/tournament.
@00Phat12345 Nope. It's about 65-70% skill and 30-35% luck. If it was more than 50% luck, there would be no such thing as a professional. The reason that amateurs win big televised tournaments is that it does take a TON of luck to win when there are thousands of entrants. Do you ever actually watch poker after dark? It's a cash game, not a tourney, and the amateurs almost always get steamrolled.

i miss full tilt so much
i feel like pokerstars is a slot machine
i'll be winning a little in the beginning, then go on a crazy bad beat streak to lose a bunch.
i can never sit at a table online for more than 4 hours. i'll eventually go broke
tipsy09 4 months ago
lol i've been playing live for 5 years and stuff like that happens way more often online than in real life
yeah online you see more hands, so there will be more bad beats
but then measure it per 30 hands, per 30 hands, it happens more often online than offline.
i can sit in a casino for 8-10 hours and see probably a handful of bad beats,
but after 300 hands of online poker, i see as many as i see in a year (exaggerating a little) but it definitely feels like that
tipsy09 4 months ago
whatever. i always feel better when the dominate pre-flop hand wins. but yeah...pretty crazy hand.
