It does matter what language a person speaks because there's a need to preserve a culture. The ZANU government has tried to destroy the Ndebele people/culture by closing the radio broadcasting channel (Radio Mthwakazi) and broadcasted only in Shona. At least Smith gave equal rights to all ethnic groups, there was broadcasting in Tonga, Kalanga, Nambia, Shona and English. All what we have now is Shona songs of liberation struggle. The Shona are not the only one who fought for this country.

I think I grew up in a wrapped in a cotton wool in Mashonaland,when I first went to Bulawayo,I was eager to learn the language,had no idea about the Ndebele-Shona triberlism,as I got the hang of the language within three months...I remember being told liya hlala ekhaya... litshona!!kalina nqondo!!litshona!!It was very hurtful as I have always loved the language.I still do now..wish I was fluent.Lets stop fighting over heritage...we are all BANTUs we should embrace and preserve our cultures.
