Her voice gets better by the decade. Call it what you want but I think it comes from a life of clean living. Look at the Osmonds: Their voices are as good as they were 40 years ago.
@gyrgrls This is Richard's arrangement and you must admit they had a "good" recording of this great song. I think that is all they said in the intro. Thanks for the note and for watching. Charlie
Oh, God, yes. But the trouble with Marie, is she is too busy making dolls, instead of doing what she does best - singing. She really angered a lot of fans when she went on her QVC stint.
Marie Osmond, one of the finest female vocalists on the planet - and she's MAKING AND SELLING PORCELAIN DOLLS?

What a treat - the one the three great altos of the seventies sings tribute to the greatest pop alto of all time, the one and only Karen Carpenter. Debby Boone is one of the few who could pull the song off this well. Still singing beautifully.
Karen would be touched. Yes, the Boones knew the Carpenters...Actually a family friend of the Boones were the singing Osmonds, of which Karen Carpenter briefly dated Alan Osmond...Debby does a delightful interpretation...
Wow!! I never realized how talented and beautiful Debby Boone is!! She is absolutely gorgeous!! She ages incredibly. We should all be so lucky to look like her in our 50's! Kudos Debby!
She does Karen Carpenter better than she does herself , on top of that I love that smile .

OMG, Dude, you called it, and you nailed it!.
You took the words out of my mouth.
Please help me pick my lower jaw up from off the floor!
This is the older, more mature, Debby, a side of Debby I never knew,
until now. Certainly, she will follow in the footsteps of Linda Ronstadt, Rita MacNeil,
Karen Carpenter (RIP), and Edith Piaf.
Thank you for sharing this. I have downloaded and saved two copies of this,
just in case it disappears from YouTube.

Ummm,,, this was written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach, NOT Richard Carpenter.
I wanna PUKE when credit is given to the Carpenters wrongly.
I had the privilege of hearing Juice Newton perform "Sweet, Sweet Smile".
She never recorded it...
Still, a WONDERFUL performance by Debby. She not only surprises me - she shocks me, like a TASER. She'sTHAT GOOD.
My other two favs of hers are: "Are You On The Road to Loving Me Again", and her cover of the Beatles' "From Me To You".

What a great song and a brilliant performance by Debby, sung to perfection. At the end Karen and her are smiling at each other.
