love this vid,the comment "one deer and your toast" is true if you live in fear and "what if" style of life !!! one life, living is about taking chances, deciding not to try it is "living in fear" great vid, just a shame that old mercedes spoiled your fun on that windy road that subarus are made for!!
mediocre driving, slowing down quite a lot for the nice bends than accelerating as soon as it's dead straight, quite strange to see British road signs etc. in a different country.
It's expensive, but it's not rare. It's pretty much made for endurance racing and cutting down time on your shifts, since you don't have to clutch-in to shift up, but you have to clutch-in to shift down
Is this the 1032F kit that goes into the original gear box, or did you buy one of their Sequentials? I'm looking at their 1032F kit ... may pull the trigger.
Yeah, I'm looking at the 6-Speed for my STI .... the sequential is just wayyyyyyyy too much (unless you're gonna do professional rally and stuff). Do you still have the clutch it, or do you just throw it into gear, like you're shifting normally?
dogbox has no syncromesh to let the gears move in nearly the same speed before you actually change gear. You mush move the gear level as quick as you can to protect the dog gear. With syncromesh box like a normal car,
shift the gear level slowly to allowed those gears match speed before you shift.
"Straight cut" just refers to the shape of the gear teeth. A dogbox can have either straight cut gears(typically stronger and noisy) or helical cut gears(teeth are angled like stock and much quieter, but not as strong). Just about all factory passenger cars have helical cut gears.
There are versions offered in Hong Kong that aren't avaiable anywhere else. BTW, where exactly was this vid taken? I couldn't make out the road signs (more like me not knowing where places are because the last time I was in Hong Kong was over 2 years ago).
This is a USDM 2.5l? Why did you decide to go with that thing? Funny, we're ditching that motor to swap to your 207 and you ditched the 207 to go with our 257. Stock, 207 rev's higher and has stronger internals. 2.5 here is only good for 450 "reliable" whp.
Miffy... I'm ASSuming we are hitting the language barrier or you have your facts wrong. The EJ205 is a USDM factory 2.0 liter. The EJ257 is a factory made 2.5 liter. The 2.5 comes with forged rods and crank (not pistons) and has a revving problem. No high revs from that motor. The EJ207(JDM motor)has an OEM 8k redline and a closed deck forged motor. Us Americans consider it to be superior to any USDM counterpart. I guess it is opinion, but 400whp is nothing special. Even my 500 is mediocre
Fact is,my car is a WRX with a EJ205 like your USDM car but with big port head. not a JDM STI 's EJ207.207 is semi-closed deck. EJ22 is fully closed. my engine is also a built up 2.5L. Driviability on street is more important than max. HP.
Every mod that i have just named are very cheap parts minus the labor that will allow you to obtain a 8500k redline.(safely)
using the evo as reference to ej was a very bad idea, different motors with different applications towards making power.(4g63's use hp ej's use tq, that goes for the jdm 2.0 as well)
another question for you, why would you want to use nitrous anyway, the pistons in 207 are the same exact ones in the 257, so you know what that means right.( blown pistons)
being able to drive your car around with out boosting the holy crap out of it is the benefit of having a 2.5 block.
usdm sti owners have to work on head flow, main bearings, rod bearings,cp or cosworth pistons with a better oil pump and it shits on the jdm one at all boost levels.(fact)
At that engine level you can spool any 20g an above without a problem and still have a good daily drivable car.(make a long story short you did it right) good job bro.
We'll have to disagree. OEM to OEM... I think the EJ207 is a far superior motor. The .5 of displacement on a non revving motor isn't enough of a benefit for me. Also, keep in mind that I'm not interested in road course racing. I drag race.... the 2.5 is a waste. 2.0l and 9k redline with some nitrous will spool a 40r (20g and 375 hp is useless to me) fairly quickly. Same thing with the EVO... stay with the 2.0l for the revving capabilities.
first of all who's we'll referring to? I only see you disagreeing with me on the obvious fact that a mildly built 257 will walk all over it's jdm brother.(team orange uses the 257, Esx's drag monster uses it and greek dragsters is using the 257 for their new 8sec gc8)
Honestly the usdm sti has revving capabilities but main bearings, rod bearings and low flowing head is what makes the ej257 suffer on top end hp with bad revving capabilities.
We'll.. you and I. again.. I disagree. Stock for stock.. I take the 207. MOdding the motors... built V7 with V8 head w/ 35-40r would be my choice. Since when has USDM ever gotten a superior product than the JDM? counterpart.
the jdm ver 7,8 and 9 does not have a closed deck.
that jdm motor has a semi closed deck, its the crank bearings and high flow head that makes the jdm motor a little bit more efficient than the usdm one.
I hope you know that the ej207 only makes power up until 8700rpm and thats with a built motor.even the evo's stop making (reliable) power around 8800-8900rpm.
in my opinion the jdm ej207 is a good balanced motor but a waste of time if you want a reliable 500whp car without nitrous.
best ej series motor is a closed deck 2.5-2.4 block with cosworth pistons.
Sounds blurry to me
