  • whats happens to the black manager i dont remember

  • Mafia 00:01 Starbucks

  • This is one of my favorite scenes from The Sopranos. I always was amazed and enthused at how they could integrate and show the changing social culture and attitudes of American culture as a whole (i.e. the feds becoming somewhat "benevolent" towards the family when their mission changes to homeland counter-terrorist intelligence). It's scenes like this that make you appreciate just how great the show was as a whole.

  • what was that song called in the beginning of the video?

  • the parisis were fuckin filthy pieces of shit, glad to see one whacked n the other turn rat, just like their filthy genes said they would...

  • @poops1 patsy didnt get killed or turn informant

  • i've always wondered: are there actually mobsters who go to businesses and demand money for protection? is that really how it works?

  • @zcrosby How else do you think it'd work ? Maybe they'll make a phone call, but if you say no, sooner or later they'll come to collect on the premises.

  • It only stops organized crime, because it takes away the source of the corruption -- power (in this case, money.)

The goons have no access to the power, but neither do those employees. Both of them are powerless in this world.

Its not a better place because people are more moral, courageous, principled, (less corrupt, less anti-social/damaged, less desperate), etc.

  • They don't do bad because the world has been designed so that they don't have the opportunity, not because the world is designed to make them not desire or need to do it.

Its like locking up a rapist and his/her victim -- no on gets raped, but no one has freedom, and no one has learned why it is wrong to treat someone that way.

  • burt gervasi, carlo gervasis brother

  • Thank you my man

  • Who's making the collections along with Patsy?

  • the guy with Patsy is the guy who wanted silvio to help new york get rid of Tony. Silvio gave his answer and killed the bitch

  • so, i dont get it. what does patsy mean when hes says "its over for the little guy"?

  • ppl here miss the point. the black guy obviously knew they were wise guys, thats why he explained to them; their schemes wont work anyways. like he said, everything is accounted for in the computer. you cant shake down businesses like walmart starbucks or whatever

  • @orduni90 i presume they meant killed

  • what are u talking about,

he knew what they were hinting at, but he could pay them any money.

they major buisnesses are taking over hence 'its over for the little guy'

  • hahaha won't be seein this guy around the block no more....LOL. What a dumbass, he shoulda got the hint, do they look they're fuckin around? They're mobsters u idiot!

  • They were talking about big business just like mcgucc said.

  • You obviously missed the point of the scene :P

  • no they have no cause to hurt him cos like he said someone else will be there, the big business wont allow any money to enter pastys pocket, therefore, he knew that he was safe

  • Man is there any where I can watch whole episodes on the sopranos??

  • I think that Blockbuster etc rent out whole episodes. Pretty cheaply. On DVD.

  • Pasty and the other guy were pretty dumb for thinking they can run a protection racket on a national chain store (based on Starbucks I presume).

  • man this scene was just perfect and i dont think the manager knew who they were until he said the whole kneecap thing

  • Haha, yeah.. A brick through a window every week wouldn't really cause any real headache to the Starbucks CEO considering his company has 10,000+ stores in North America...

The storeowner didn't seem like he's a defiant guy but he just said how it is, he really couldn't pay the money even if they threatened to break his kneecaps..

  • @gnr4evr06 - good point. The garbage thing is a running theme in the Sopranos, especially in series 6. I think this is just showing that they aimed to shake down the front of house as well as the back.

  • Great scene.

But in New York City until the mid-1990's, the mob was able to shakedown even places like Starbucks. How? Like with the rest of the city, the mob controlled their garbage pickup. Starbucks or whoever had to pay the mob's inflated prices. Built in extortion right there.

  • Wow, I didn't know this. Thanks for the info.
