  • You've got to admit this, Oceanic are not, and never were, Liverpool's best. Furthermore, isn't Jorinde (pronounced "Yo-rin-tah") well into her 40s now?

  • I close my eyes and listen to this, and I can hear the dry ice machine filling the dance floor and I can see the strobe light. Kids being kids. Brilliant.

  • Is that mr motivator on stage?? great song though :P

  • lol i remember them - had them in my house at an after party- was fun

  • So, looking back Dave, I think it was a mistake to get the guy in the yellow t-shirt onstage

  • One of my favourite songs from the early 90s...and there were so many to choose from back then!

  • We've just sat next to her on the train to Chester and decided to sing Insanity to her..Which she loved....

  • @LomotyLomes Winnity Win!

  • aww fantastic!!!! i saw these play at Appelby's St. Helens, way back when it was a cool place to hang out. Anybody else there that night????

  • I was actually in Jorindes house....

  • My goodness! This takes me back

  • Everyone do the melbourne shuffle lol

  • Good song

  • @daviddevins, Why did Jorinde have a hard time in school?

  • seen these live along with 'the bassheads' and 'k-klass' what a night...now with kids, wife and mortgage those days are long gone....boo hoo !!

  • My godfather is the keyboard player with the ponytail :)

  • @TheMscrp Must have been Garry Glitter.

  • Good tune but it oozes "plastic rave"

  • Jakki Brambles before becoming a Loose Woman. The way I'd like to remember her.

  • I loved this fucking tune. It inspired me to become a Priest.

  • THIS IS MY FRIENDS DAD HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! <3

  • WOW, I STILL love this song

  • this is blast from the past

  • I made a couple of appearances on TOTP back in the 90s as part of a minor dance act.

One floor manager (still in TV today I believe) used to tell all band members to go into the studio audience & “rape any young slut that you fancy”, as long as he could watch & film. He was full of disgusting, upsetting stories of band members’ antics with young girls. He said he admired guys who “unblocked their pipes” by claiming their “rightful trophies”- forcing themselves on “stupid teenage whores”.

  • jakki brambles- oh yeah so would like to ..

  • That's right Discokidda, Jorinde and I were in the same class at Withensfield Middle School on the Wirral for 3 years. I seem to remember she had a bit of a hard time of it, kids can be so cruel.... We once had a camping trip and Jorinde( I'm sure it wasn't spelt like that back in the day) had to bring her own tent because none of the other girls would share....... Still she was on TOTPs and they weren't.

To be honest Discokidda everybody in RJ's was a bit of a t**t.

  • Not enough comments about the quality dance moves being busted!

  • my mum is achuly friends with justine .. she looks nothing like that now lol

  • this is very different to the single mix that was out at the time - and certainly different to those on youtube

  • lol yea it is pretty shit

  • S U C K S !!!

  • I like her Rihanna legs - she looks like a speedskating champ.

  • back in the day when dance music was worth listening to? are you having a laugh? this is shite!

  • @crime999 Why click on the link if you're only interested in listening to justin bieber? You dip-shit.

  • @YabbaGo pffffft jog on. but then i guess when it comes down to it that little cunt bieber can sing in tune better than this harpee. What im getting at is this was an exciting time for music... but then you had utter bollocks like this that just didnt make any sense you fucking gommel.

  • They are actually from the Wirral. I saw the lead singer pissed off her head in RJ's nightclub in about 1994 & when the dj played this tune she ran up and grabbed the Mic off him to start singing, but she fell into the turntable and all the music went off! The DJ made a proper twat of her.

  • @discokidda - she sounds classy.

  • @discokidda is that true if so ill have to take the piss outa of her for it next time i see her lol

  • @discokidda id make a proper of her twat

  • @discokidda Not sure that was the lead singer that night actually, think it was me!!

  • She was doing the Sound recording and related arts at Spirit school of recording, Manchester. this was a final project! I did the same course but was six months behind her group.

Other famous bands from that college were K-Klass, smiths, Candy flip, 808-state to name but a few! It was during the Madchester time so the city was buzzing!

  • @bignickb Candy Flip!? lol

  • @Vadaro03. I bet that u are an oil painting. Lmao

  • @1970marky, I agree JW was talented and also were the two lads.

  • as a 15/16 year old i loved this tune,, and remember this totp well, how ugly she was , but i was very interested in watching her t*ts bounce around on this lol

  • @vadar03 she's not an ugly english girl,tracy thorn is :P

  • @AndreVlaamsValle , yeah shes not ugly compared to tracey thorn , but not many people are , tracy thorm horrendously offensive pug ugly face makes the elephant man look handsome , heehee

  • Ahhh, Jorinde Williams the lead singer....my wife's best mate lol. remember watching this. she's a lovely girl who deserved to get further than she did.

  • @1970marky You should be able to say which college course she was on when she did this!

People always claim to know her, only a few of us actually DO know her.

  • @urbex2007. i first met her in 1995 which was the year i met my wife. Didn't believe her at first because i didnt know the lead singer of Oceanic's name. Looked it up, saw her picture and thought....Bloody hell...it's her!

  • ah the energy of the early nineties!

for those saying they don't like it, check your pulse - are you okay?

  • This is commercial cashing in on the Dance scene - sounds naffo!

  • No, worst song of that era was 7 Ways To Love by Cola Boy - fronted by radio 2 presenter Janey Lee Grace! makes you think...

  • The UK Public didn't think so. Lmfao.

  • Pure commercial bollocks riding on the back of the rave scene.

  • Dazbate what planet do u live on?

  • Tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune...

  • f**kinb luv this toon :)

  • quite possibly the shittest tune from that era !!!!!! i hated it !!!! many other songs knocked the socks of this one ....loved the b side though that was great

  • @dazbate yeah i agree, i just feel like this was copying the rave movement. poor man's bizarre inc!

  • Didn't know Mr Motivator was with them?

  • FUCKING ABSOLUTE QUALITY TUNE THAT WILL NEVER BE FORGOT......... WELL DONE.........

  • My mum was lucky she went to school with jorinde williams. its sad she got a lot of crap in school.

  • Take me back to the 90s please "take me into insanity" I would rather be there than my forties!! Classic stuff I miss it so much when I start to listen to all the old stuff like this.

  • Just sooooo love it.... and I'm 38 now!!!

  • @feastham1 I hear you, god i am depressed I loved these times so much.

  • Best era for dance music, the 90s!!!

  • This started me on the long road of Dance music, Leeds warehouse ahh , great times.

  • This really takes me back

  • Back in the day when miming was at its best...!

  • epic :)

  • the presenters hairstyle reminds me of; "there's something about mary"!!

  • Superb!

  • Love the way the girl mime's the first line wrong pure class

  • great tune oh yeah

  • like the top off the pops tune havnt heard that in years

  • Wow, I remember that it was in Scotland, the song that knocked 'Everything I do' by Bryan Adams off the top of the charts.

  • @djbobbybob1976 The song that knocked Bryan Adams off his perch on the UK Number 1 was U2's "The Fly". In fact, I seem to remember reading when he got knocked off the top spot, Bryan Adams had sold MORE copies of the record in that week than any of the previous weeks at Number 1!

I think this song should have been Number 1, this music beats the pants off modern music!

  • Jacki Brambles looks dressed to present GMTV News!

  • No-one would have ended up in hospital(long term) over using NUTMEG CANNISTERS & CHOCKIE SCHNAPPS & COKE!!!(To get the same high!)

  • the worlds worst lip syncing award goes to ....

  • loose women!

  • top tune top band. oceanic sud have been massive. the nations loss

  • lead singer has nice jugs

  • mint tune!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Fucking sellout cunts.....Respect to the hardcore!!!

  • hahaha cheesy quaver.........

  • definatley good memorys and the dude in red shorts is defo pild up...

  • @blackthundercat46 No, he always acts like that...

  • wow this was really big in greece they played this all the time fantastic love it!!!!

  • one of the keyboard players is my godfather the one with the pony tail lol

  • its funny how people look back on this as some sort of stellar dance track as it was considered pretty naff at the time. i should know i went to see them and enjoyed every minute of it. dance tracks now are much more polished but of course the thirtysummits have no emotional attachment to them so they dont mean they same as the stuff when they were young and so it goes on for every generation.

  • the twat in cycleing shorts is off his face on e

  • He's totally blowing up

  • and who wasnt listening to this???

  • i dont know why, but id loved to have shagged that bird..

  • OMG i remember this on totp.. and loved it ! what year was this?.. thanks for posting brings back my younger youth !! WHEN DANCE MUSIC WAS DANCE MUSIC !!!!!!!

  • @delboy0903

91 if my memory serves me right . Ahhhhh Good times

  • is it jackie brambles singing?

  • Great tune but a terrible performance on such a flagship show like TOTP.

  • Amazing tune. Love it :-D

  • Oceanic is an anagram :P

  • great track.i took a load of photos of the singer, she was great.not sure if she used any of them?

  • oi chandlerbingbong what you mean when dance music was worth listening too, if it wasnt for dance music i would say the charts just now wouldnt be as they are just now [dance power]

  • I used to love this track too, but the mix was way too "toppy" for my liking...thank heavens for parametric EQ's!!

  • i'm not even a dance music fan but this was a classic for its time, you dont 'em like this any more, and the singer was a good looking lass as well.. what the fuk happened to them????

  • it's like any dance act, they only make 1 or two hits and then die off.

  • absolutely amazing song!! remember dancing in the clubs to this!! those were the days"!

  • they were indeed, great tune and tunes of this era

  • @MegaKaren33 A definate floor filler....I was in a club in Huntingdon a few weeks ago and the shit DJ never even had it......just sums up todays music!!!!!!

  • I love love loved this song. I am digging my cd out of the loft

  • for got i had this cd been colecting dust for years

  • Forget to say this was on September 6th 1991.

  • This was Jakki Brambles final ever appearance on Top of the Pops. The show was revamped on October 10th 1991 with more wonky camera angles and new presenters such as Tony Dortie and Mark Franklin.

  • Like everybody else woo hoo I wouls give Jackie Brambles one, what a babe!

  • Bring back top of the pops

  • Bleeding awesome!

  • It's a pity she can't sing in key.

  • Say's mariah carey.....

  • Is that aimed at me? LOL!

I live around the corner from these monkeys! LOL!

It's a great uplifting tune, but could have done with a better vocalist and / or better production. But, you know, it does the job.

  • iT AIN'T AIMED AT U........

  • SHES MIMING

  • No shit Sherlock!

I dont think Top of the Pops allowed artists to sing or play live to be honest

  • No she's not! It's just that the whole world is listening with their collective fingers in their ears! LOL!

  • At least she is singing live, unlike most who appeared on TOTP around this time.

Also just a bit of useless info, they never made a official video for this because they never expected it to be a hit.

  • That is not live!

Look, I like the toon too!

  • No shit Sherlock.

  • this is one of the best dance songs ever.

  • By definition - EVERY dance song is one of the best dance songs EVER!

On a scale of 1 (being good) to 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 000- where would you rate it?

I is havin' a laf, innit?

  • @helendicko the best i think

  • @helendicko I agree, I loved this song when it was actually in circuit. I think when the 20th centuary ended, so did decent dance music. Has a good Hi-energy over-tone to it aswell.

  • another one hit wonder! wahey!

  • and rightly so its gay and there scousers so fuck em

  • wot du u no bout music u plantpot

  • more than you bulb

  • NOB!

  • ?????

  • this never got played at decent club nights, a pal of mine went into action records in preston, when he asked for it they laughed, chucked him out and barred him for life. and quite rightly so.

  • bulls**t!!! Biggest selling dance single of the year........ Your mate was too with it for Preston, plain and simple....... You simply have no idea!

  • biggest selling...that says it all, no house music dj worth his salt would have put this on his decks, the only place you'd have heard this was at school discos and your bedroom probably.

  • god!! the memory's this song brings back, had a massive crush on the lead singer : ),

  • *runs off to tell her*

  • quality i loved this track

  • remember throwing my ring up and hearing this, great times, i think?

  • Has anyone got the Christmas Special version when they sang it live?

  • Magic tune, Happy days. And get a load o Jakki Brambles lol

  • This was one of the last ever episodes with this theme music, graphics and non-jerky camera work. The music was originally from 1986, (with an update in 1989).

Interesting to see Jakki Brambles of Loose Women presenting the show - probably her last time.

  • looking at the charts from back then and as this is at #8, that makes this the TOTP from 5th September 1991. That means Bryan Adams was at number one (again!)...

  • they are not from liverpool they are wools!!!

    but class tune though

  • What does wools mean?

  • wools, are just a term used for peeps just outside of liverpool that still carry the scouse accent......like all the stops on way to scouse land... pudlians like to think people from these places are welsh not scouse(even though they feckin have a scouse accent, and not welsh...) er go figure...btw im a scouser, from fazakerly

  • The term is believed to have originally referred to the people who worked in wool factories in towns near Liverpool, such as St Helens, Wigan or Widnes. They would walk to Liverpool carrying the wool on their backs, therefore they became known as Woollybacks, and now the term refers to anyone from the county of Lancashire.

    btw i'm from wigan

  • err....Wirral.

  • I remember seein them at Trannmere Rovers FC

  • I used to love this tune back in the day. Old skool is awesome

  • great song but shame she is mymeing the song,,but love the old scool stuff

  • Used to love this song when it was played at the clubs in Southend when this song was released.

  • absolute classic!!!

  • Anyone remember their classic follow up 'crazy days and hardcore nights'?!

  • That would be "Controlling Me".

  • Thanks for that - been looking for it for ages!
