I've heard the MG42 was not horribly accurate and I wanted to see if that was true. I know all machine guns (and guns for that matter) shoot in a general cone shape, but do you notice that it shoots a little wider than most machine guns or do you not see any real differences? Also, do you shoot the surplus 7.92mm? I can't imagine you shoot strictly brass all the time, it must get expensive! Great video!
Here it used to be to be called "Hitlersäge". In today´s Germany, if they catch you with a gun like that, you´re in a_lot_of_trouble. Damn German gun laws..... I gotta emigrate to Texas, so I can wear a cowboy hat and fire automatic weapons!
C2,was this MG42 built from a collection of parts or from a de-milled kit where the receiver had been sawn/gas cut etc? If the receiver was re-welded what are you views on weapons where the receiver has be welded back together? I myself would be very wary of any weapon that had been welded back together, small calibre weapons I could trust but there is a video on here of someone welding a LAHTI L-39 receiver back together. This rifle takes a 20mmx138B shell,I wouldn't risk it,its a fierce weapon!
@silver760 There is nothing wrong with re-welding a receiver after it has been cut, by either saw or torch as long as the welds are pure (clean) and proper steps are taken to prep the metal before welding. A new weld can be just as strong as a virgil piece of steel if done correctly. The powerful Dshk that I re-welded is a case example.
@silver760 the steel would never break on the weld if you know how to do it. The tensile strength of a weld is much higher than any receiver is going to be.
actually WW2 weapons are awesome weapons..... PPSH and thomson submachine gun are really good good weapons even today........ near than kriss super v or p90 mp5 ump or better
one of the best guns of the war because it was one of the least likely to jam if maintained properly the japanese and americans suffered form this during the wars in the pacific because of the jungle warfare and constant rain and mud jamming the rounds
@A5h13yK The MG42 had a high rate of fire too high to a fault -- i heard it was designed that way to act as a makeshift crude AA gun if need be.
And not about American military equipment, but the Japanese industrial capabilities at the time could only produce crap grenades with 5 second fuses that went off 5 seconds earlier, and guns which officers preferred to swap out with captured allied guerrilla pistols modified from FLARE pistols cuz the standard ones explode in their hands.
G3(or MG-62 as we call it) without tripod - just the two legs! Is how I got my first gold badge, back in '98. And it was of course in; The Royal Danish Guards!!!
That sound is so full of fear and epicness. I imagine allied and soviet soldiers pissing their pants when they realised that they need to stand against Hitlers Buzzsaw...
This gun is so badass. It doesn't sound like the normal bang, bang, bang. But, IKILLYOUMOTHERFUCKERYOUALLDIEBYMYSPITSOFFIREOFHELLOFDESTRUCTIOOOOON, on full auto.
@Rich8951- bullshit some more. The Germany (or, the Third Reich, to be more accurate) was aggressively expanding. The whole "allied" world didn't want the war, thus appeasing Hitler. Crap, Poland offered France a preempitve strike on the Third Reich, but the French have chickened out of it. Besides that, I agree with your comment. Yes,Hitler tried to negotiate with GB after the 1939, but the prime minister has changed since the start of the war,and the new one didn't want no negotiations.
tear that shit up! way more effective than the piece of shit m249saw. but then again the most closely comparable weapon in the us arsenal is the m240 which isnt even comparable
this one is mounted on a tripod to hold it stable. Mounted like this you can do aimed bursts up to 2000 meters, otherwise it has too much recoil to give aimed shpts over such distances
unbelievable rate of fire and accuracy, german technology at the time of world war 2 was beyond reproach. Almost can't believe the outcome of world war 2, but if the messerschmitt 262 (first jet plane) Wass mass produced or made earlier the outcome could have been very different.
I think the Yanks & Brits found out the answer to that question back in 1942. Even modern day soldiers say: Give me a MG42 with it's it's amazing suppressive fire power and the sound scares the shit out of everybody.
barrel changes aside, the downfall of this weapon WAS it's ROF. it could fire every bit of ammo carried by a squad in minutes, requiring a third gun-crewman for the sole purpose of carrying ammo. this machine gun was really only effective when mounted in a fixed, reinforced position like a bunker complex. the only modern squad level mg with a similar ROF is the FN minimi, and that is in a much smaller, lighter cartridge allowing more to be carried, AND can be fed by STANAG m16 mags.
@donbran92 wars are not fought by weapons by themselves, if you recall every person in history who has attacked russia has lost as russia is defended by her very size hitlers generals told him this, he probably would have also done well to invent the first nuclear weapon, as the first one was supposed to be aimed at berlin but germany surrendered before this could happen. If the USA and USSR stayed out of it, yes they would have won but they built few very good machienes over lots of cheap shit
@donbran92 Warfare is about taking a bit of quality wich is combat effective and then produce it in as much numbers as possible. Germany made overcomplicated, far to expensive and prone to failure warmachines. German engineering is heavily overrated. Its good, but better then others? if it was better, they would have won WW2.
MG42= Everyone says its the best Machinegun. But what makes it the best? High ROF? nice, but a barrel that needs to be replaced after 250 rounds because its to hot?
It was not that German weapons were so inferior, or that the German soldier was not a good soldier. The Germans were simply out-numbered and out-produced.
The Germans didn't even want the war. Hitler sent his best friend Rudolf Hess to negotiate peace with "Great" Britian. The British didn't want that.
@Rich8951 I see your point. Oh, hell, I agree with you.. But, frankly, say I fight someone on a street. Do I need to settle it down with him first or do I also have to attack the bystander who is bigger and even meaner? That would not be the smartest thing to do, to say the least..(And no, Russia did not want to attack first, at least at the moment, the latest historical discoveries disapprove of the fact).
@Rich8951 Germany didn't want the war?Hitler sended Hess to England?I wonder wich books you've been reading. There are even memo's found on the topic made by the german high command in wich they drafted several explanations on how to explain Hess going to England by himself.Don't be naive to actually presume that Hitler would've wanted to keep England as a sovereign state.Reason?think preps for D-day?and bombing on Germany? No way they would've accepted that nor England would've.
@Rich8951 No, Mr. Hess was on a unauthorized mission without telling anyone. When Hitler heard of it, he said "I wish he drown in the North Sea and save us the trouble of explaining!"
@Rich8951 ...where the fuck were you in history class? Hitler was INVADING COUNTRIES. He wasnt looking for peace. Seriously, stop that neo nazi skinhead bullshit and open a book, watch a documentary, or talk to anyone who isnt a skinhead.

have you noticed the pop up thingy on the bottom of the vid wich sais ''Are you ready to fight???'', does that mean like take the gun and shoot some1 annoying you?
@C2builder Ferraris are fast but honestly, they aren't very smooth. To get the outstanding handling characteristics that almost all European exotics have, you have to have stiff racing suspension, among other things. Just being a stickler :)
@iroc464 this aint tripod...its called "Feldlafette and is on piece of equipment that turns this rapid firing killing machine into a awesome precision hell of a daemon weapon that nobody back in WW2 wanted to mess around with..the gunner turned into a rapid firing sniper on this thing..
@Sustructy: It's mounted in a tripod in the video. Fired from prone position on the ground with support only from the front bipod I can assure you: You better hold on to it or your shoulder's going to hurt :-)

At 1400+ rate of fire any machined barrel gets heated.
It's frictional mechanics , and is perfectly acceptable .
Yes the MG-42's barrel is light because the germans wanted it to be so .
But you must take into consideration the design requirements
Lighter barrel , can give stability to the weapon , and can makes its changing fast , not to mention the weapon is light-weight and portable
Heavy barrel - yes less changes
But omplex mechanism , lesser portability and slow barrel change

Why do the gun dealers get all the cool stuff, while i'm stuck here with this single shot bullshit?

I had that in the tank i used to shoot in, when i was in the army. It can lay a pretty nasty rain of bullets onto a surprisingly large area.

@C2builder Ehm....U mean like a Mercedes-Benz???(It's german, anyway ...)
bosshunterman 4 months ago
@C2builder Ferraris are fast but honestly, they aren't very smooth. To get the outstanding handling characteristics that almost all European exotics have, you have to have stiff racing suspension, among other things. Just being a stickler :)

@iroc464 this aint tripod...its called "Feldlafette and is on piece of equipment that turns this rapid firing killing machine into a awesome precision hell of a daemon weapon that nobody back in WW2 wanted to mess around with..the gunner turned into a rapid firing sniper on this thing..
Spionsilver 4 months ago
@Sustructy: It's mounted in a tripod in the video. Fired from prone position on the ground with support only from the front bipod I can assure you: You better hold on to it or your shoulder's going to hurt :-)
