@ThePeadopollce Hey, Pead, thanks for contributing . . . well, nothing . . . to the conversation. Well, nothing except ad hominems, horrible grammar, and terribly distorted spelling. But wait, you were saying something about "dumber"?
as far as sales being a guide to the quality of the content of Oreally's books lets be honest he is selling them to baby boomers, the generation that embraced the pet rock I think you were all exposed to too much lead in your childhoods I am glad i was young enough to benefit from Carter"s lead abatement program.
@Glennyco Actually, judging by my battalion's opinion of O'Reilly, they'd just assume burn O'Reilly himself then his books. The men & women in my platoon, alone, can't stand to even hear his name. As for Olbermann, I'm not sure about my guys' opinion on him. I don't think I've ever heard him mentioned in conversation with them.
Personally, I happen to agree with my soldiers' opinion of O'Reilly ... "We're far better off without him."
These troops were probably atheist. Book burning is popular among the Godless radicals today. What makes this worse is that O'Reilly paid for the lawsuits against the Westboro Baptist Church for picketing funerals. Know your enemy, and O'Reilly isn't it; he's your friend, ally and defender.
Keith, love your perspectives! If I could offer one bit, "Worse Person(s) in the World" would be better as- "Funny people to make fun of" "Worse" offers the thought that these individuals really have something to offer. O'Reilly demonstrates that he does have something of value to offer hummanity- warmth! Hilarious!
To be fair, this wasn't censorship. "There were 20 of them. I saved one for the bookshelf. I’m aware of the historical implications of book-burning." I'm sure they still would have preferred food or porn.
I think a more fitting demise for O'Reilly's books should have been to tear out the pages and use them as toilet paper! At least that way the soldiers could have gotten something "useful" from them!

@InvestigatorDave Actually it has everything to do with it. If you'll remember the soldier burning the book was a homosexual. The book itself is anti-homosexual.
@Microtardz Actually, the soldier's sexual orientation has nothing to do with it from the report from Keith. As I described above: one troop, under the orders of one commander, burned 20 books written by O'Reilly. Hardly a major protest vis-a-vis gay rights, or any kind of a trend either.
Not everything is symbolic or significant. Don't get all OWS over this.
@InvestigatorDave AT what moment does it have to be a major protest for gay rights? I mean, I see what you're trying to say, but I honestly think you're going a idiotic way to say it.
I could point out Keith bitched about his scummy scam of sending 1 book per 25 sold to soldiers.
But the website is everqueer's tumbler. While this may not necessarily mean the soldier is queer. It does hold significant recourse at least to me. As to why O'Reilly is a scum bag...
@Microtardz Did I miss the part where Keith declared this a gay rights protest (major or otherwise)?
If Keith wanted to label O'Reilly a WPITW, there should actually be a reason for it, and it should be stated. From what I heard: one troop, under the orders of one commader, burned 20 books. Motive not stated or known. O'Reilly's complicity in this, also unknown.
@InvestigatorDave ............. I think it's properly fucking outlined. You're just sitting here blinking and not understanding it at such a rate that it's irritating.
It doesn't have to be a protest at all. The fact is it's scummy enough that a homosexual soldier has to look at an anti-gay book that's been sent to him and his comrades.
Furthermore, the sending of a crappy book per 25 sold is nothing more than a sham, AS POINTED OUT, to sell more of the shitty books.
@Microtardz So, perusing your last several comments, I just have to ask: is this a protest (major or otherwise) or not? And of course, this would be your opinion as you have not evidence from this clip to bolster either side.
Presuming that the soldier is gay, it was not his decision to burn the books. One troop on orders from one commander burned 20 books. As to whether is was "scummy" that the soldier had to look at them, I did not hear that he was forced to read them. Lastly $26 not books
@InvestigatorDave Oh, it was $26 in his store. Oh, wow..... That's slightly less depressing as selling 25 copies of books just to send 1.
No, it wasn't a protest. This is why I said, "at what moment does it have to be a major protest for gay rights".
If I think he's a scumbag for even writing a book or even existing as a homophobic bigoted is it set in fact? Sure I can prove he's a bigot and a homophobe, but does that mean you'll think he's a scumbag? Not necessarily. It's opinion bra....
@Microtardz Believe the policy was one book purchased, one book sent to troops, and the cost of book was $26. That would make it buy one, donate one. Kind of nice. Don't know another author doing that. Do you?
If soldier's act was not a gay protest, is your ranting here about gay issues one? Just asking.
Is it your position that anyone who disagrees with you about gay issues, or any other matter, is therefore a "scumbag" or deserve to exist?
@InvestigatorDave "Position that anyone who disagrees with you about gay issues is a scum bag" Any other matter isn't necessary to say when you're asking this question, it depends on what the other matters are.
Anyone, who disagrees that homosexuals should have the right to marry and get all the benefits of marriage, to me, is a scum bag. Because they're restricting that person's rights.
At which moment did I imply my ranting was a protest?
What the fuck are you even saying at this point???
@InvestigatorDave Oh, and upon the first thing you mentioned, his books are devalued to $14.99, he might try to sell them for $26 in his store. but obviously his publishers are not trying to sell it for that.
Went to Booksamillion and could get a new copy of it for $10.....
His books sell cheaper than books about Baptist heritage... Which is hilarious imo....
@Microtardz Some of his older books probably have been discounted. That is common. And paperbacks sell for less than hardcovers -- that's not news either. When the new books sell for full price, he sends copies of the new book to the troops. I beleive this is his policy. Not sure. Never researched. Still, what other author is sending books to troops for free? Is Olbermann doing that? Nice gesture regardless.
@InvestigatorDave There has always been a protest for gay rights in the united states.
You do realize O'Reilly gets no money for a book sold, he gets the money through his publisher... Just like a Musician, they make an album, get paid for it, then the people who gave them a recording contract make money off the albums sold. So O'Reilly giving a book a way doesn't effect him in the least.
Furthermore, what point is there to it? Most people donate money which can buy books or actual supplies....
@Microtardz So you've researched O'Reilly's contract with his publisher and know that to be the structure of payment? Interesting. Where did you find that? BTW, you are completely wrong about the music industry. There are many ways to structure a contract, and sales can be a part of it. (They call it "royalties". Look it up.) Do you know that O'Reilly doesn't cover cost of book sent to troops? Someone is paying for it. Who is that someone? Point? To give troops something to read.
@InvestigatorDave Upon the subject matter of scumbagness. No, in my book you're a scum bag if you wish to restrict rights that I think any human deserves. I think O'Reilly should have the right to say what he pleases. Just as I should have the right to call him a scumbag.
If you're trying to restrict, or an advocate of restricting human rights that I think are valid and important, then in my book you're a scum bag.
I don't find that interesting, I find that as "quite a clean way to put it."
@Microtardz So anyone who either restricts or wishes to restrict what YOU consider to be a human right is therefore a "scumbag". YOU are the official decision maker.
You're right that it is an easy and concise way to make the decision (and no matter what other factors are part of a persons character or actions, it all comes down to what YOU decide are human rights), but easy isn't always the best way.
BTW, many people like to read books to learn/entertain/relax. Books = nice gift.
@InvestigatorDave "YOU are the official decision maker" You're fucking right I am, now stop patronising me and quickly realise it's all opinion based. Good, bad, Scum bag, evil, justice. All of these words are fucking subjective, and come down to nothing more than opinion.
Stop pretending I'm selling it as anything more than that.
As per your books=nice gift. Nice is also an opinion.
As per Royalties, and other set-ups, I'm speaking about the one taken most often (by smart people)
@Microtardz I don't know what you do for a living, but I can tell you that in my world, good/bad/justice are not subjective. Not at all.
I understand that all of this was your opinion. Stating such was unnecessary. Still, your opinions say alot about you. So do your declarative statements devoid of fact (which then are either "wrong" or just another opinion.)
You never said if you know of O'Reilly's contract, so that was opinion too. Royalties are taken by the most successful (ie smart)
@InvestigatorDave Actually, Royalties are often subject to being a small amount and are only taken often when the contract also gives a large sum in advance.
This may work for the already successful. But if you're not rich and famous, chances are you actually have to choose Large sum payment, or risk it all only a %'age of sales. In which it's far smarter and less risky to just go with the lump sum...
No, I haven't researched O'Reilly's contract, but considering his books don't sell....
@Microtardz So, bottom line is: I was correct when I stated there are more than one way to structure a publishing contract, and was correct when I said you didn't know anything about O'Reilly's contract. Let me correct you again: His books do sell. That's whey they are frequently (always?) on the NYTimes best seller list.
@InvestigatorDave Your grammar at this point is horrible "there are more than" it's "there is more than"
I never said that there was only 1 way to structure a publishing contract. I only stated it was the one taken most of the time, and that it was most likely the one O'Reilly used.
As for the "NYTimes best seller list" I actually laugh at that. The amount of rif raft that ends up on their best seller list disgusts me because it becomes obvious someone paid for it to be on that list.
@Microtardz Grammar? That's what you're going after now? OK.
You should have stuck with your earlier statement that you did not research O'Reilly's contract and left it at that. More supposition on your part just leads to -- well, supposition devoid of facts.
You're right somebody paid for the books to be on the list. Those somebodies are called consumers. They buy the books. It is a stat based upon sales.
@InvestigatorDave "In my world" Our world's are the same. If you honestly believe that Morals are objective, can you explain to me why you no longer own a slave? Why you no longer stone your daughter for being a slut, why we actually have given homosexuals rights???
Why do morals change? If there was an objective standard that society ought to follow from the beginning, why such drastic changes To and From between societies.
@Microtardz Obviously we don't live in the same world, and we certainly don't work in the same profession. There is NO gray area when it comes to good/bad/justice in mine. That was my original statement, which you changed to "Morals", which is something different, so that you could make a different point that really is pointless.
@Microtardz Wow, I almost responded to this in a logical fact-filled way, then saw that you have devolved into the debate loser's most common retorts: vulgarity, insults and name calling. You even threw in a nice little slur against the mentally handicapped. You've exceeded the standard trifecta for debate losers.
Rage on against someone else who is immature enough to engage one who does that. Someone as immature as yourself.
@InvestigatorDave You've exceeded the limit of my patience for dealing with a completely dumb ass troll who decides to change the topic of a "debate" about a million times targeting what you think to be the easiest thing to target. When the reality of it is you're misrepresenting my statements to extend further than they do.
Furthermore, you pretend that you're right on issues and shove a snobby attitude to boot with it.
Fuck you, fuck the ground you walk on, and fuck your troll tactics. Bye.
My father picked up an earlier O'Reilly book for about a buck at Goodwill. After reading it, he decided that he overpaid, but at least that dollar went to a truly worthy cause.
1. Father contributed real $ -- Not germaine to this conversation, but nice of him.
2. Real cause -- So giving the troops something nice is not a "real cause"?
3. Crummy book -- Because your daddy told you so? Did you bother to read it? Is your daddy the arbiter of taste for all books? If so, we could get rid of the NYT best seller list and book critics; we'll just ask your daddy what's good.
Actually, I did read it, and although I thought "Factor" was better than the horrible mass of nonsense and aggrandization that was "Culture Warrior," it was still awful.
And how is giving the troops a shitty, ill-written book giving them something "nice"?
By the way, using the argument of the bestseller list is very O'Reilly of you: "a bunch of people bought it, therefore it must be good. Herp a derp!"
@InvestigatorDave And if honestly, you can't figure out how he's a scumbag from that. Then let's talk about the O'Reilly factor where his basic "debate" or "interview" is typically nothing more than misrepresenting his opponent and asking loaded questions left and right, Cutting off parts where the opponent answered on the actual broadcast and making it appear as if he won the "debate" or "interview"
At the end of the day, he's a dishonest homophobe with no argument.
Hold up. So when you go and donate to his charity to send reading material to troops, he goes and buys his OWN books to send over? Is this a scam? It sure sounds like one. I would have expected an assortment of random books, not just 20 of the same copy.... of his OWN book. This sounds like a legitimate way for o'reilly to pocket donation money meant for the troops....
Fucking Youtube altered the "news & politics" section!
You the people can no longer access the "most viewed" rankings which is part of how videos become viral by people checking out the rankings!
Instead Youtube now dictates the "top news" and what is "popular around the web" and even only displays a dozen or so of those where before you could browse thru ten pages of rankings!
This is like a mayor brain seizure in our collective brain.
Olbermann is such a shill for Democrats...there is really no difference between him and O'Reilly - they are both cheerleaders for their Globalist parties, and only serve to keep us stupid and divided. Olbermann calling O'Reilly a clown is merely projection of his own foibles onto his ideological opponent. I have no use for either one. Both are assclowns that shill for the propaganda machine that is msm, and only stoke the fires of divide and conquer.
@xTheOxx ...and isn't it funny sick how he has a hard-on for only those he considers on the 'right'. Intellectuals like Olbermann are good at staying just out of reach, making their elitist comments and getting others to do the dirty work for them. Like Marx and Engels. Intellectuals are great at cocktail parties, but not so good in the trenches...they have an aversion to getting their asses handed to them. I satand by my statement...he's an assclown with bad ratings, soon to be 'underemployed'.
@makwabid69 I don't waste my time sleeping. I enjoy my time furthering educating myself. One quick look at your channel and we can see you are just a little punk. Puffttt..Mediocre mind.
@classicallady . Careful, darling. Your elitist horns are showing. I'm sure you're a legend in your own mind, but on my street...just another piece of fluff.
@makwabid69 You are so damn sure I am an elitist. I am well off and with several degrees from the most accredited University in the world. Americans. We despise the under educated, the stupid like your poor t,rash white family.Stupid, i,imbecile and ignorant Americans. Go play whit your small dick kid. Don't bother punk, you are blocked. Now go back top the room to f. your mam again...
@classicallady...Listen to yourself...listen and see how ridiculous your words are. You don't know a single thing, for all of your 'degrees'. I have nothing but pity for you. BTW...I'm not white. Capiche? Dovete dare un'occhiata onesta lei. Non potete gradire che cosa vedete! Per tutta la vostra formazione presunta, non conoscete niente! Sono fatto che gioco il vostro gioco.
Bill O'Pumpkinhead just keeps the fires burning with the U.S citizens.Someone should put him in a box and send him to the troops in Afghanistan.I'm sure the troops will know what to do with Mr. Pumpkinhead, being that Halloween is comming up soon...if ya' know what i mean?
Well! Maybe next time Loofah Boy will simply have his 'books' printed on toilet paper, that way at least a sentence here or there is guaranteed to be read - before it's put to its best use! : ) Haven't our soldiers suffered enough?
@vinnys025 - Yo Vinny, you served, so you know what it's like. Hauling several pounds of gear, etc, you do NOT need heavy boxes of the same book lying around the place. My point is this wasn't a 'book bbq', rather it was an attempt to get rid of shit that would just waste time and unnecessary effort to accommodate? Just wanted your opinion on the subject, man.
selling crap books can save our economy.....if we burn these crap books to fuel our country's energy independence plan...keep it up O'Reilly...you can save our future.
they should rip the pages out of the bill O'Reilly book and put Ron Paul books under the cover and resell them for Ron Paul's campaign and send the money they get to Ron Paul and wake up a few neoconservatives in the process.
i believe even conservatives hate bill oreilly. I believe that is a fair statement. Myself can't stand either of these people, keith or bill. both are IMO are shills.
I'm sure they would burn your book to Olbermann. I'm glad people are waking up to CORPORATE PROPAGANDA. FAUX, CNN, MSNBC, Olbermann, O'Reilly, etc.
FYI private contractors now outnumber the troops in Iraq, and Afghanistan. This is a way to hide "troop levels", and conceal the costs of the war....non military.
The deception should NOT be tolerated (troop levels, GDP, unemployment, inflation, propaganda, etc)...you included Olbermann.
@EndTheFedRes a great deal of troops are minorities... they're burning his books because they don't give a fuck.. a lot of army folk aren't as educated as you believe.
They more than likely just do it because they're fucking goofy, hell they dance to brittney spears.
@AgrivatedKillah I had a friend in the Army about 3 years ago (Iraq). You should hear the stories...gangs, lack of education, mentality, it is truly unbelievable.
@TheJackssuprise So, you hate abortion, do you? Or maybe you like his support for corporations. Or war, for that matter. Yes, war. No lie. He supported the war on Iraq, before he realised how unpopular it was. Basically, he got marijuana & prostitution legalisation right. That''s about it.

Microtardz 4 months ago
@Microtardz So anyone who either restricts or wishes to restrict what YOU consider to be a human right is therefore a "scumbag". YOU are the official decision maker.
You're right that it is an easy and concise way to make the decision (and no matter what other factors are part of a persons character or actions, it all comes down to what YOU decide are human rights), but easy isn't always the best way.
BTW, many people like to read books to learn/entertain/relax. Books = nice gift.
InvestigatorDave 4 months ago
@InvestigatorDave "YOU are the official decision maker" You're fucking right I am, now stop patronising me and quickly realise it's all opinion based. Good, bad, Scum bag, evil, justice. All of these words are fucking subjective, and come down to nothing more than opinion.
Stop pretending I'm selling it as anything more than that.
As per your books=nice gift. Nice is also an opinion.
As per Royalties, and other set-ups, I'm speaking about the one taken most often (by smart people)
Microtardz 4 months ago
@Microtardz I don't know what you do for a living, but I can tell you that in my world, good/bad/justice are not subjective. Not at all.
I understand that all of this was your opinion. Stating such was unnecessary. Still, your opinions say alot about you. So do your declarative statements devoid of fact (which then are either "wrong" or just another opinion.)
You never said if you know of O'Reilly's contract, so that was opinion too. Royalties are taken by the most successful (ie smart)
InvestigatorDave 4 months ago
@InvestigatorDave Actually, Royalties are often subject to being a small amount and are only taken often when the contract also gives a large sum in advance.
This may work for the already successful. But if you're not rich and famous, chances are you actually have to choose Large sum payment, or risk it all only a %'age of sales. In which it's far smarter and less risky to just go with the lump sum...
No, I haven't researched O'Reilly's contract, but considering his books don't sell....
Microtardz 4 months ago
@Microtardz So, bottom line is: I was correct when I stated there are more than one way to structure a publishing contract, and was correct when I said you didn't know anything about O'Reilly's contract. Let me correct you again: His books do sell. That's whey they are frequently (always?) on the NYTimes best seller list.
InvestigatorDave 4 months ago
@InvestigatorDave Your grammar at this point is horrible "there are more than" it's "there is more than"
I never said that there was only 1 way to structure a publishing contract. I only stated it was the one taken most of the time, and that it was most likely the one O'Reilly used.
As for the "NYTimes best seller list" I actually laugh at that. The amount of rif raft that ends up on their best seller list disgusts me because it becomes obvious someone paid for it to be on that list.
Microtardz 4 months ago
@Microtardz Grammar? That's what you're going after now? OK.
You should have stuck with your earlier statement that you did not research O'Reilly's contract and left it at that. More supposition on your part just leads to -- well, supposition devoid of facts.
You're right somebody paid for the books to be on the list. Those somebodies are called consumers. They buy the books. It is a stat based upon sales.
InvestigatorDave 4 months ago
@InvestigatorDave "In my world" Our world's are the same. If you honestly believe that Morals are objective, can you explain to me why you no longer own a slave? Why you no longer stone your daughter for being a slut, why we actually have given homosexuals rights???
Why do morals change? If there was an objective standard that society ought to follow from the beginning, why such drastic changes To and From between societies.
That was then, this is now, is subjective :3.
Microtardz 4 months ago
@Microtardz Obviously we don't live in the same world, and we certainly don't work in the same profession. There is NO gray area when it comes to good/bad/justice in mine. That was my original statement, which you changed to "Morals", which is something different, so that you could make a different point that really is pointless.
InvestigatorDave 4 months ago
@InvestigatorDave Good/Bad/Justice are directly linking to morality. If you don't understand this then you're a moron.
Now if you think speaking of a generic Good/Bad isn't subjective, then you're more fucked in the head then anyone could possibly fix.
Good for me, isn't necessarily good for you or anyone else.
And justice is directly speaking about what is "right" and what is "right" is set by the victor.
It's all subjective.
Stop being fucking retarded.
Microtardz 4 months ago
@Microtardz Wow, I almost responded to this in a logical fact-filled way, then saw that you have devolved into the debate loser's most common retorts: vulgarity, insults and name calling. You even threw in a nice little slur against the mentally handicapped. You've exceeded the standard trifecta for debate losers.
Rage on against someone else who is immature enough to engage one who does that. Someone as immature as yourself.
InvestigatorDave 4 months ago
@InvestigatorDave You've exceeded the limit of my patience for dealing with a completely dumb ass troll who decides to change the topic of a "debate" about a million times targeting what you think to be the easiest thing to target. When the reality of it is you're misrepresenting my statements to extend further than they do.
Furthermore, you pretend that you're right on issues and shove a snobby attitude to boot with it.
Fuck you, fuck the ground you walk on, and fuck your troll tactics. Bye.

@InvestigatorDave
My father picked up an earlier O'Reilly book for about a buck at Goodwill. After reading it, he decided that he overpaid, but at least that dollar went to a truly worthy cause.
conservativecwybaby 4 months ago
@conservativecwybaby So your dad bought a book authored by O'Reilly and did not like it. This is relevant to the conversation how exactly?
InvestigatorDave 4 months ago
@InvestigatorDave
Merely pointing out that at least my father contributed real money to a real cause rather than sending crummy books overseas.
Waaaaaah.
conservativecwybaby 4 months ago
@conservativecwybaby
InvestigatorDave 4 months ago
@InvestigatorDave,
Actually, I did read it, and although I thought "Factor" was better than the horrible mass of nonsense and aggrandization that was "Culture Warrior," it was still awful.
And how is giving the troops a shitty, ill-written book giving them something "nice"?
By the way, using the argument of the bestseller list is very O'Reilly of you: "a bunch of people bought it, therefore it must be good. Herp a derp!"
conservativecwybaby 4 months ago
@InvestigatorDave And if honestly, you can't figure out how he's a scumbag from that. Then let's talk about the O'Reilly factor where his basic "debate" or "interview" is typically nothing more than misrepresenting his opponent and asking loaded questions left and right, Cutting off parts where the opponent answered on the actual broadcast and making it appear as if he won the "debate" or "interview"
At the end of the day, he's a dishonest homophobe with no argument.

NillyMu31313 4 months ago

Both are assclowns that shill for the propaganda machine that is msm, and only stoke the fires of divide and conquer.
makwabid69 4 months ago
@makwabid69
Not one Democrat has been as enthusiastic about OWS as he has.
He's not a shill, he's a leftist "intellectual". Unfortunately, no one in power cares about intellectuals.
xTheOxx 4 months ago
@xTheOxx ...and isn't it funny sick how he has a hard-on for only those he considers on the 'right'. Intellectuals like Olbermann are good at staying just out of reach, making their elitist comments and getting others to do the dirty work for them. Like Marx and Engels. Intellectuals are great at cocktail parties, but not so good in the trenches...they have an aversion to getting their asses handed to them. I satand by my statement...he's an assclown with bad ratings, soon to be 'underemployed'.
