When I watch the clip, I get the sense that perhaps this may have been an outtake where there may have been some joking, or it may have been a case where they set this up for Letterman, or something like that. I always loved when they would do stuff like that and make fun of themselves, like on letterman and The Critic. it showed that the animosity that was portrayed in the press was exaggerated, I mean they weren't best freinds or anything but they knew when to laugh at each other and just have fun.

I don't think you should feel like an asshole for laughing at this. When I watch the clip, I get the sense that perhaps this may have been an outtake where there may have been some joking, or it may have been a case where they set this up for Letterman, or something like that. I could be wrong, but Siskel calling Ebert "big boy" I think is suggestive of the fact that this was meant in jest.

I responded to someone who thought maybe Siskel was dealing with the effects of the brain tumor that contributed to his premature death. I suggested that this was either a lark, or that it was taped for Letterman. Neither one suggests this was an "actual movie review."
It probably was taped for Letterman, however as I wasn't there, I don't know that for a fact. And I suspect you don't either!

yah siskel and Ebert were a great movie review duo -- you know you feel old when you feel that something permanent has passed with their passing. @alizee2010 Agreed, all of the people afterward just showed how brilliant those two were together. Watching Ebert discuss film with Roeper was like watching a professor and a mediocre student discuss things after class. And the two Ebert-less pairings after that sent me to atthemovies's archives permanently.
