You think the bus/food service is bad, try the courier service. I sign a waybill for $60, but GH turns around & invoices me $120. Can you say "robbery"? What a way to run a business. I have been fighting with GH for 10 months now about 4 or 5 bills like this. If you deal with GH courier, always make sure you get your WB copies for your own protection.
I had a similar experience, maybe worse, i have posted my stuff on youtube, as My Greyound Experience. I had 2 stations where the people did not want to dirty up their gril, I also had to deal with unplanned layovers of 5 hours, 3 hours and two at 2 hours each. Greyhound was a horrible experience.
But don't peel an orange on the bus. One lady peeled an orange on the bus and the bus driver got so mad, because he said it as an odor that consumed the bus like a heavy perfume. Can you believe that?
there are some very good drivers and very good people that work for greyhoud.. Im sure there are problems like any big business. but give them a chance. people are people.
Many if not most of the Greyhound food services are independent businesses and food service people are not Greyhound employees. Thus Greyhound may not have "enough" influence over them. However, the one you mentioned could in fact be Greyhound owned and here is "the reason" for the service you've got (Greyhound's way :). I believe that the two main reasons for Greyhound "bad" service is #1 Monopoly, and #2 Bus drivers union which limits Greyhound's ability to hire and keep best drivers.

@FangFiftyFive I agree I wouldn't go GH I rather Take my own car, Take a Train and even Go Southwest Air the Solution go southwest air and leave the Flying to us beside we've gotten fairs cheaper than Greyhound fairs :D
big bear ron I am an nashville greyhound bus driver and I completely agree with you and I deeply applogise on behalf of my fellow co- workers and I am quit sure there are plenty of passengers that have not had a good experience but on the food service part of nashville greyhound this is why we no longer serve hot food everything is pre packaged and thrown in a microwave. Sorry once again and we are not all hateful and iggnornant I always say it takes only the love of one person to make a change
i hated working there i hated most of the costumer, so yeah sorry if the people in the food service area act like that but you got to understand that there more shitty additude customers than there are good one and it changes how we treat everyone, so if ur mad and getting off the bus leave it there or complain to corporate
I've had them break down almost every time in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. $3 for a soda. The receipt was torn so they wouldn't take it, I had to buy another one. The security guard wanted me to sit perfectly still "no walking around, tie your shoes completely, no cameras, don't put your feet up, don't lay down..."
It's a monopoly, no other service does what Greyhound does so we pay whether we want to or not.
From 1989 when the mexican transport begun with the bus revolution, the bus carriers stared with Dina Avante and Dorado buses, in 1991 begun to use Mercedes Benz O-371 R, RS, RSD coach 49 seats, first 44, Bussines 36 and 32 and luxury only with 24 or 25 seats; 1998 Busscar and Mercedes Benz; 2000 Volvo, 2004 Volvo 9700 and Irizar.... Very nice service on board no like the greyhound crap! I had the worst experience by bus from Chicago Il to Richmond VA and on flight in American Airlines (AA)!
Examples of TOP carriers are IN Luxury Class: ETN, Turistar, ADOplatino, AVE, Parhikuni, Estrella De Oro / Bussines Class: Primera Plus, ADO GL, Autovias, La Linea Plus, Omnibus de Mexico, ABC, Estrella Roja Pullman, Estrella de Oro, Autonaves / First Class : Omnibus de Mexico, Estrella Roja, ADO, Servicios Coordinados, Futura, Transportes del Norte, Estrella de Oro, Cristobal Colon, ABC, TUFESA, Autonaves.... and several coach lines. NEW BUSES ALWAYS No more older than 7 years,
Greyhound is an awful service! Who traveled in Mexico by bus, discovered the Quality, confort and good service on board in Luxury Class, Bussiness Class, First Class and Coach Class is better than the crappy Greyhound... Plasma TV en every seat on buses, some carries offer on board free internet, music, movies to choice in your personal screen, self service cafeteria, lunch, 2 toilettes, non stops or reduce stops around the country, good costumer service, frecuencies....
LOL!! Back when Greyhound was my primary transportation mode, I've seen so many ridiculous things as far as customer service. One time in L.A., I've seen a customer service rep. refuse to issue a ticket to a lady b/c she didn't speak good English (no lie). Another time while in NYC, I tried to purchase a one way ticket to Baltimore, MD and I was thinking of a good time to leave. Apparently, the lady thought I was taking too long and she ignored me and continue with the person next in line.
Yet another reason I go on Amtrak. Generally, Amtrak in the Central Valley of California is REALLY big customer service. I've always been greeted and use them often to go to the central coast. Amtrak actually uses busses for some of the trip. Also, Greyhound uses some of Amtrak's busses for some of their routes. I always hear about how nice the drivers are on the Amtrak busses compared to Greyhound. One driver in particular ALWAYS addresses you as "sir" or "miss". 5 stars Amtrak!
America is slowly crumbling. If you have ever been ona Japanese or Korean Airline.......WOW! GREAT SERVICE. I wish Korean Air or ANA (Japan) could buy Gereyhound. You would get GREAT customer service from drivers and terminal staff or they would be fired. Greyhounfd needs training on customer service.
I was standing outside a terminal at 1:15 am to catch my bus at 2:30am. And of course, Grey Hound was closed. I already baught my ticket, and my arrival was set for 230am. elieve me. I wanted earlier. But the lady who worked the afternoon shift in Pueblo, CO. refused to help me. So, instead, I had to appear at 230am. A bus showed up. Infront rid LOCAL. It didn't say Raton. So, I waited for the next bus, just to find out that was the bus. WTF? What kind of service is that? I hate you GREYHOUND!!!

The only reason Greyhound is not out of business is because they are much cheaper than going on an airplane or a train. If ailines reduced their prices by a fraction that would be the end of Greyhound. I personally get on the Greyhound bus just to get me from A to B. I don't expect anything more than getting on and off the bus. I don't expect any of the staff to help me, be a little courteous, etc... Greyhound could be on the brink!
Unless things have changed since I drove for Greyhound, the food services are independent vendors, not Greyhound employees. It's sad how lazy employees have gotten all over. I've had equally bad experiences with airline employees. Between unions and Affirmative Action, employees have no fear of being fired.
i got a chili dog in jacksonville fl. station and they simply threw it, in the bag without a wrap so the chili was all over the bag. but when you have all niggers working the terminals and buses i suppose u come to expect this
Awesomely well articulated. When my wife has to travel and it's not by air, I send her on Amtrak rather than have her deal with the Greyhound. Their terminals are simply put, gross.
I totally agree i went on a trip on greyhound from Houston to New Orleans, and they put my bags on the wrong bus, being carelessly, and i god really mad at them, and they didnt care
It's all supply and demand my friend. The supply in this case is limited to the one restaurant in the terminal. The demand is limited only by the number of hungry passengers. Same thing works with the restaurant. The supply of people who will take that job is very limited. If they just show up and are (kinda) sober and awake and have iq's over 50, the management is happy to have them. As for anything untoward they may do on the job, management doesn't give a toss.
Speaking of Nashville greyhound station. I had to make a round trip to ohio from texas. On the ride back as we were leaving from Nashville terminal right by the strip club on that single road going out of the station. It was like watching a episode of cops. The food they serve though tastes like vomitt.
I meant to add in that I witnessed a brutal asskicking contest between Nashville PD and a drunk guy in 2005 to one of the sentences. Caffiene is one helluva drug.
I agree with you 100% i,m from montreal canada.I was on grey hound there was a drunk passanenger he passed out on floor .someone conplained to driver the driver shouted at him to wake up he he didn,t respond so the driver got mad kicked the guy in the ribs that was to rough i no they have a hard stressful job but no need for that.
The Frederick, Maryland terminal acts as a transit center for city buses, Greyhound and MARC commuter rail trains. The employees there are the worst "in my opinion." A guy was actually laying on the floor with his cell phone laying several feet from him, ....which looked like he had collapsed. The agent seemed completely unconcerned, ....like what do you expect her to do. Duh! A city bus driver had to call the police, ....as the Greyhound agent was not going to. FIRE THAT AGENT!!!!!
I am from the old Greyhound Lines. I was a driver from 1980-1992 and we treated every passenger with respect. Tha was part of our training. The "cafes" in the terminals are not owned by Greyhound, they are contracted. I wish the "good Greyhound days" would return, I am sorry that you folks had a bad experience.
Grey Hound is the worst service in the free world The drivers is worse than the New York cab drivers. And their slogan is LEAVE THE DRIVING TO US!!! BIG ASS JOKE ON THE PUBLIC.
Greathound service is HORRIBLE.. i have to agree..never again am i going on a bus. Those workers are rude, lazy and mean! Sometimes they dont even let you get your baggage or even know where its at. Its stupid!
mybigbearron--You have a point and you are making plenty of sense. The people working there were just lazy asses who didn't want to do anything. It's like they don't want to serve you. Yeah! Then, these people compIain about having no income. I probably would've done the same thing (i.e. walked out too). I have been to at least one ''nice'' terminal but with a lot of Greyhound's riders you have to be careful for reasons you are talking about here. Agreed big time.
I totally agree omg, I couldn't have said it so nicely after the HELL I was put through, I had to go from Orlando FL to New York the Bus Driver and 4 other Bus Drivers off duty were treating us customers like crap totally even making jokes and 1 of them was flirting with girls and talking about strip clubs and police avoidance when driving, real unprofessional, the off duty was occupying 2 seats and there was a poor lady with a baby who paid for the seat and had to carry the baby
I feel you. You know. I am a guy and even that (i.e. hearing people babble about strip clubs, being obnoxious, etc.) gets on my nerves too. I totally agree that, that is very unprofessional. You could've reported the obnoxious driver. What you are talking about sounds like North Carolina, and this cesspool is INFESTED with Floridians and especially New Yorkers. It's up to the driver to restore order. If I were a driver for Greyhound, I would zero tolerance for obnoxious ppl. as such.
I can totally agree. I drive out of dallas, and from what I have seen the drivers that have been around for a long time dont care about anything except a pay check. What they fail to realize is if they keep running the passengers away we wont have a pay check. This is why I do my best to be polite and courtease to each and every person who steps up to my bus and anyone who should have a question or problem in the terminal.
x to Holbrook, Az Talk about entering the TWILIGHT ZONE and the driver EVEN told all passengers when we boarded that quote"You Have Now Entered The Twilight Zone" and that he made the rules I had to switch buses in Albuqurque NM and oh yea Im disabled and because driver TZ stuck me in the toilet on the first bus I asked driver BANDA in Al NM if he had a disabled section he refused to let me board. He said that I was drunk, Im On meds cant drink. Bus left with seizure meds. Walked back to DAL,TX
I took greyhound from Fargo,ND to Las Vegas and going there was good, but when I came back the bus going into denver was 1 1/2 late and the next connecting bus was full and i had to wait for 8 hours to get on the next bus to KC. There service was great 3 years ago but now it's crap..
Greyhound is a joke all the way around. I would say 80-85% of the drivers that have driven the buses I've been on had a serious attitude problem. And don't ever lose your tickets or your reboarding pass, or forget which bus you're on when you take a 15 minute break, or which bus you're getting on at your next transfer, etc. They might shoot you.
@chim80 me either As long I have my own car, I will continue driving myself, matter fast I have my Class A CDL License, and I drove a chevy pickup with a flat trailer from Mesa, AZ to San Antonio FL. if I could do this I could drive almost any where in this country, I'll never ride on greyhound unless I'm a Driver for that company.
@chim80 its been 8 years since I've ridden Greyhound from Fresno C.A. to Anaheim C.A. I was on the older bus man these seats are very unconfortable than the seats on the Southwest airline Boing 737 and they stink. I rather take a Train, go on the commercial plane, or drive myself.
@chim80 here a better way to travel, Don'g go Greyhound Go Southwest Air, and get a way from PHX to Las Vegas starting at $39 each way, another word Go Southwest Air, and leave the flying to us :D
yes i agree, greyhound has been giving subpar service for years. during a stopover, i once asked an employee of the terminal where my bus was, and he ridiculed me for forgetting. whatttttt is that about.
You think the bus/food service is bad, try the courier service. I sign a waybill for $60, but GH turns around & invoices me $120. Can you say "robbery"? What a way to run a business.

@act6629 LOL I so agree I will never take a ride on greyhound ever again......
