    No, the A3 is defined as being twice the size of A4. Ratio of longest side to shortest side in *any* size of paper in the 'A' system is always 1.41, which is as true for A6 as it is for A1

  • You'd think so, wouldn't you. But in Printer terms, it's 141%.

  • I'm no mathematician, but could someone explain the 141% difference to me - surely A3 is twice the size of A4; ie: 100% bigger; 200% of the size

  • @justinhowes They're referring to the lengths of the sides rather than the area. The width of A3 is 1.41 (square root of 2) times the width of A4.
