This is great! It's about time that Flynn's brilliant existential treatise, "My Wicked, Wicked Ways," receives the depth analysis it so surely deserves. Many thanks! When do we get episode #2 of the Octogonal Philosophy?
To put all this in simple terms, Errol Flynn spent his life searching for answers to everything, be it physical, emotional or otherwise, which is why and how he experienced everything in one life, and probably never got the answers he was looking for or that elusive missing something , but my God he had a great time doing it.
I knew this would be pre-analytic. As a logician may I interject that to say
"Contradiction is a cardinal element in life"
immediately disqualifies Flynn as a philosopher as he clearly has no grip on his terms. "Contradiction" is a logical term and cannot apply to life in any (let alone in a "cardinal") way in times previous to the rise of language.
The misuse of "contradiction" instead of "tension" or "conflict" or "dialectics" is as false as it is typical ...
This was for 1:55 , but later he correctly uses the word "paradox" (has nothing to do with contradiction), and then the quotes enumerate paradoxes which aren't contradictions at all (like the zest to live and the zest to die - a "zest" is not a proposition and hence cannot be an element in a contradiction).
It is simply this pre-analytic, naive use of language which seems to create profundity where there is just simply confusion and irresponsibility.
I would consider Flynn's rabulistics seriously if he could humorously tolerate others torturing him or not helping him in a situation of extreme pain and utter despair who will retort "I helped you alright!" (which would according to Flynn be equivalent to "I didn't help you".
Let's see Flynn with broken fingers and buried alive on 500 ug of LSD with only the chance to cry out for help through a hose - whether he truly doesn't distinguish sharply between yes and no.

...for the pre-analytical, mushy thought.

(contd.) "irresponsibility"
