  • God bless you, Marty. Although I don't know you, I am very touched by your video and I have learned a lot about this condition because of you. My husband has a disability and he also gained independence with the hand controls on the vehicle. I wish you ALL the best in your life. :):)

  • Incredible! Loved your video very much. Your words should be a wake up call to many people. Life is meant for living.

    Excellent!

    Have a great 4th.

  • Marty, thank you for being such an inspiration to us all. I have arthrogryposis and the Shriners Hospital in Greenville South Carolina helped me sooooo much. It is truly amazing there. you have the perfect outlook on things. Life is much too short to worry about what you dont have or what you can't do, go out and make the best of it! thank you so much

  • It was great to see your attitude. My sister was the same way. She had A.M. in every joint, club feet, and scoliosis. She passed away 5 years ago. She was only 11 years old, but she was just as much ambitious as you! Wheelchair bound, she had more obstacles. But it was great to see your video. Thank you!

  • @genniesmom, what happened? Does this shorten their life span?

  • i love you marty && miss you lots!

  • Thank you for everyone's support. Please keep leaving comments.

  • Marty,

I commend you for joining the Masons and Shriners. Also for giving them a plug on your video. We seldom see a commentary on the internet from one of our patients even though we have provided services for over 800,000 kids. Your story and many others need to be told in order to keep up the interest in the fraternity. I hope your Shrine career brings you to be Potentate some day, we need people like you.

Did any of the people commenting here use Shriners Hospitals?

  • Marty

I, too, have Arthrogryposis and I believe you have discovered the secret. You must make an active choice to go out and make your life extraordinary. You only have one lifetime to make a positive impact on those who get to know you. You have certainly done that. I now regret more than ever that I was unable to attend the convention in Ohio. Keep on truckin', you are a true inspiration!

  • You have a great attitude.

  • Hey:

Marty you have a great story!!! I wish everyone had the type of positive and go getting attitude that you have. You have been truly blessed!!!

You keep talking and motivating as many people as you can you have certainly motivated me!!!!

More power to you and God Bless!

  • Hey Marty, you're an inspiration! Thanks for sharing your heart with the world! God bless you.

  • I met you in Ohio at the AMC Convention, you are an inspiration to Everyone! The kids with AMC can trully appreciate you, and how far you have come. Keep up the great spirits, the positive attitude, and thanx for sharing of yourself with the rest of the world.

  • Hey Marty you are awesome!

I was also born with Arthrogryposis (all four limbs)and agree with your attitude and outlook.

Bravo for taking it to the web!

  • Very cool. My son has this condition and so do I. I do not have it this severealy. Check out my son, though. :) He's a real trooper.

  • Marty, I just wanted to drop you a note and say Thank You! Thank You for helping me understand the condition. When I see people like you I use to she away and feel sorry for them. Not anymore! You are an inspiration and I hope your story gets around. God bless you!

  • Marty is my cousin, love him to death! I'm so glad that more and more people are getting to know him and his story. His truly is an amazing person and intelligent beyond belief. I hope that everyone who sees this video passes it on to their friends and family. This story is an inspiration to everyone in the world to show no matter who you are, you can make your own future for the best regardless of your situation,or lifestyle. Be who you want to be, be yourself. Don't ever be told you can't.

  • Marty- I am a dear a friend-Mark Rogers, and you know I support you, because I have a lot of medical problems-some of which doctors have no idea-whats going on. But for me, I feel LEFT OUT!!!! lol. And for me-I can over diagnose what most doctors miss in a heart beat. I am tired of them telling me what they think is going on-when I know what is going on-so Good show marty-but seriously-MAN-YOU NEED TO UPDATE ME ON THIS SORT OF THING-I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO DO A LITTLE SCHPEEL...

  • Yes, Martin, you are an inspiration...and more. You're optimistic, self-possessed, caring, kind and loving. And what a terrific family you have. I wish you the very best in life.

  • Martin, you are an inspiration! Your family has been tremendous.

  • wow, im supprised that i have the first comment. This kid is awesome! I'm always amazed that the people who have the hardest time in life often have the best lives at the same time :D
