Well yeah of course his hands hit first..he planned on falling..but not hitting his head. Didn't realize how close he was to the speaker which is of course higher than the stage floor. So even though his hands hit first he still hit his head

It is part of Jim's act that he falls, but he didn't realize how close he was to the speaker when falling...plus he had a cold that night so every bit of pressure was magnified...that's why it looked like a train hit him after he got up...
