I totally agree with all you say Pamela. March will be my third year without full time steady employment (only work I had was during our local state fair in New Mexico).
I know how it is in Oregon too, my parents live in Salem so I hear all sorts of stories from up there.
This video means nothing. I am one of the millions and millions that are unemployed in Oregon. Temp agencies know they will NEVER EVER send you out at all especially if you are using a mobility device. It has been over 1 1/2 years and been to over 130 places and NO JOB. I have a graduate degree of 6 years and no criminal record and NO BODY will hire me because I use a walker. ALL temp agencies and most employers all discriminate 1000%. If from the first second you walk in they need to tell you.
Chances are if you have been unemployed for 6+ months, your chances of finding a job are considerably reduced as opposed to somebody in paid work. Alot of people don't realise that most positions are obtained through word of mouth by work colleagues and other social support networks. Trust me... once you drop out of the circle, it's very hard to get back in again... the average working bear wants nothing to do with an unemployed person (partic on the verge of long term unemployment)

References don't mean shit. Alot of employers don't even bother checking them it's so easy to just to get fake references
