It absolutely does matter which way you put the trackball back in. On the bottom of the ball there is a metal connector that has a notch facing one direction - this notch MUST point up towards your screen.

i called sprint which my bb is under and they said that removing the track ball doesnt viod your warrenty but coloring the damn leds would fuck it up so put some tap that is colored make shure its clear tape and color the tap and put the tap over the leds hope this helped
