BUT, the weaker the light, the less power and less range. Also, sometimes the light will blink intermittently if it can't keep a constant battery. Therefore, you know ahead of time if you need batteries.

another way i discovered to check if the battery is dead, is to point the controller at whatever device it controls and push a button, if nothing happens, its more than likely the battery is dead! That ones for free. check my channel at teachingidiotstosuckeggs for more.

Use that to test if camera is capable of picking up infrared. If so you can take old fashion 35mm undeveloped negative film pieces and make lense with a few layers to make your own X-Ray FLIR like camera.
