Dido & Aeneas, de Henry Purcell i Sasha Waltz al TNC

Really awesome! I thought It was a really generous show full of inspiration. I think they made justice to the Purcell play with a modern twist.

No only they dance but sing and play live too. I find this is very rare to find nowadays.

Now before you think I am basing my criticism on just this clip,I have seen the complete DVD of this production.

What do I think of it?

Post Modernist Rubbish.

This Waltz person has put Purcell's masterpiece into an intellectual mincer and spat out the result.

She has written a new libretto(why?) rearranged the musical scenes(why?) and even interpolated some music from elsewhere(why?)

Why not make a performance/ballet of her own?

Because she has little talent,less wit and NO judgement.

Natürlich ist das die richtige Musik, man hat nur noch andere Stücke von Purcell dazu genommen, damit die Oper länger wird. Das Original geht noch nicht mal ne Stunde und wer geht dafür in die Oper... so geht es wenigstens 1 1/2 Stunden und dann lohnt es sich. Außerdem ist es so viel schöner
