My kids learn to shoot at 3. My 10 year knows if he is with other kids and find a gun he knows to pick it up always pointing down drop the magizine and rack it to open the slide. Then find help.. I only showed him because other kids are curious and will pick it up and point it at everyone.. So him knowing how to use guns and what to do if he finds one is very good to know.
Kids are curious and like to investigate. keeping the gun away from them
Only makes them more curious. So id say teach kids about the danger of guns. Im 14 and im dutch, and the only thing ive shot is my grandpa's air gun. Anyway if id find a gun id take out the mag, cock the gun in case its loaded and call the police. though this would be very unlikely because guns are illegal in the netherlands, and im happy about that.
I see a gun I would run away from it cause the laws are so retarded in Canada there no point owning it. I think u should teach kids about gun even though fake or not u should treat it as a real gun
They tell the parents to lock their guns away, but they fail to see that that is exactly the problem. Tell your kids about guns. Educate them. Don't hide them away and NEVER speak about them. If you do then one day the kid finds a gun, any gun, and is curious because the parents never bothered to educate the child and tell them that guns can be dangerous and need to be handled carefully and not played with, if you see one never pick it up, ect....
Why are they telling parents to lock the guns away... WTF? What happens when the kid finds one on the street? Didn't they just present that? WTF! Teach the kids how to handle firearms safely, not hide the ones in the house! WTF!!! They're not making shit sense. THUMBS DOWN
This is sad. The idiots teach their children to be afraid of guns. "OH my god a gun! It'll sprout fucking legs and walk around and shoot everyone on full fucking auto killing everyone because it has emotions!" Children need to be taught to respect and handle a weapon properly. When I was their age I would've picked it up without my damn finger in the trigger and gave it to my teacher. Holy dog shit, guns don't shoot themsleves.
my daughter found my gun whhen i had a fight with my girls brother i had my car door open and she grabbed it im glad that my girl frinds brother hit me back because if he dident my head wouldent have turned to see her with it after i got hit i said yo stop no and ran to her and grabbed it ever sence then i keep it locked in my box in my car and i have the keypad so i can just hit 4 # and get it quick i used to keep it under the seat.
I'm 13. And I'd pick it up. Just to make sure that it's a real gun, DUH.
I wouldn't go get my mom just to find some plastic gun. Then the first thing I'd do is push the little side button so the clip falls out. Or i'd just drop it and get someone.
@itinkgirlzhot12 Actually, no, they are not. A magazine feeds ammo into a firearm, directly into the bolt with a spring, whereas a clip is what is inserted into a magazine to load a magazine easier. Any gun that takes clips, has a built in magazine.
This shows that "their perspective has changed." I hope it teaches the parents to go out and teach their kids safe weapon handling and that if you see a gun, RUN and tell an adult. Guns don't kill people....Dumb as people and irresponsible parents do! When my daughter was little and now that she is 20 A gun is not taboo. She would treat it like a hammer or a bar of soap. If she was not in my home and she was to see a gun you treat it like something that will surely kill you!
@offFool Americans are not stupid, it's just that some people in America CHOOSE to be stupid. Just because our country has a law that allows us to bear firearms, that doesn't mean we are dumb.
keep your UNLOADED gun locked up SEPARATELY from the ammunition and don't tell your kids.... WTF?!
First thing to do is to get a small gun lock box with a quick combination (for protection).
Secondly, tell your kid(s): that guns can kill if not used properly, they should always be handled with the utmost care, and that every gun should be handled as if it were loaded.
Thirdly, tell your kid(s) that if they ever want to see (examine) your gun then just to come ask you to get it (supervised).
Keep your UNLOADED gun locked up SEPARATELY from the ammunition and don't tell your kids.... WTF?!

Thirdly: tell your kid(s) that if they ever want to see (examine) your gun then just to come ask you to get it (supervised).
The real problem is that most kids don't even know anything about REAL guns, they only think of guns as toys because of the toy guns that they make for children. These "toy" guns they make for children can be pretty realistic sometimes. So it would make sense why a 4 year old might find a gun and shoot it at someone, thinking that a rubber/foam dart is going to shoot out of the barrel, and not a .44 caliber bullet flying through the air at over 3000 MPH.
Parents really should teach their kids what a gun looks like and how dangerous it is, so then if they see one they wont mess with it because it could be loaded and if they didnt know how to do a safety check they would aim at something and pull the trigger
This is because their parents haven't taught them WHAT the gun is. Its the PARENTS who are responsible solve the problems. They should show the children WHAT the gun can do. Shoot a soda can, let them see HOW dangerous they are. Teach them too SHOOT the gun. Keep them locked up but take the child out often to shoot them.
This video is very misleading. Its anti-gun rhetoric. Locking the gun forever saying BAD DON'T TOUCH THESE is WHY kids picked them up. They don't know WHAT it is.
all these fools that refuse to teach their kids gun safety because they are set in the belief that all guns are evil and that all guns kill are the one's who's kid's are more likely to shoot themselves with a "toy gun" if they find one.
teach your damn kids gun safety a gun is a weapon so is a kitchen knife but at least you teach your kid to properly handle a kitchen knife so teach your kid how to handle a gun or atleast what to do if they find one instead of telling them ALL GUNS ARE BAD.
The key to preventing this is education and safety. If the child is too young to understand safety, keep the gun inacessable from him. When he's old enough to understand, educate him on gun safety. That takes away the mystery of the guns and they become the same as a TV or knife or anything else. Gun control simply won't work because people will ALWAYS have guns; just look at Mexico, Canada, Australia, England, or any other country where guns are banned.
i knew not to touch a gun before i knew how to walk i come from a family of gun owners now im a teen and own 4 guns of my own my parents know they can trust me because they raised me and taught me wat will happen if it goes off when i was 8 or 9 my parents lined up 10 cans of tomato sauce on a board and shot it with a .40 pistol and showed me that is wat would happen to somebody if they got shot so you can be responsible around guns u just have to be taught
I hope noone follows the advice at the end of the clip. Keeping a home defence gun unloaded and ammo separate makes it an expecive blunt force weapon and not telling you children about a firearm in the house will cause much bigger problems when they do finaly find it.
guys not trying to start a fight but that would be funny if one of the kids is like sweet a gun points it then says back away bish!ima shoot dis at you foo he shoots it then nothing hes all like WTF?
(Part2)Nothing bad happens to them doing that. Why would they think any differently about guns if they have never learned about them. If you have guns you need to keep them safe from children but at the same time if they have never seen one they will be curious and you can bet they will pick it up. Parents need to keep their guns safe from kids but we need education about guns as a second line of safety. They need to understand, not just told to not touch.
When I was that age I knew about guns. I knew what they did & how they worked. They were not the forbidden item therefore I didn't have the curiosity. I knew not to touch it without dad there and I wouldn't have because I knew how loud they were and what they did to something if they went off. We tell childern not to touch so many things (cigs, alcohol ect) then they see adults doing it every day. When they find a beer can or pack of cigs you can bet they pick them up & touch, smell, taste. Cont
If I was a kid and I found a gun in my house, I probably would have shot my neighbour's stupid fucking dogs... and cats... and the neighbours themselves. Yeah, its a good thing my parents didn't have a gun lying around.
Absolutely 100% agree with you. My son is taught to treat paintball guns with the same respect as you would give a real gun. The parents of the 5 year old who shot the 3 year old are utterly responsible for the death.
People just need to point the finger at someone. It's easier to blame others then ones self. As far as this hole gun thing goes. If you have kids and guns. Lock them up.. the guns that is. Make sure only you are able to get to them. Teach your children that guns kill and are not toys. Even if you don't have kids lock them up. who know who may get there hands on them. just because we have the right to fire arms does'nt mean we need to be stupid about it.
i hate the news. they're saying "do you think you know your kid?" like your kid could be a little criminal or something. then they go on about this 3 year old and 5 year old playing with a gun, like it could be any bodies kid doing that.
the kids got the gun from their parents room. if you dont have a gun in your house, or have it absolutely secure, your kid wont play with guns. this isnt something you need to see on the news to understand.
hey guys lets investigate how many kids like guns!!
You completely missed the point of the clip so either you don't have kids or a brain. In this experiment the gun was found outside the house so yes, it could be anyone's guns. suppose a criminal dropped it there after killing someone? the point is, if you have kids teach them what to do when they find a gun regardless of whether or not you actually own one.
Well, at one time target shooting used to be a sport int he schools. Not in my time though (class of 2000), but like you said... the media and everything preaches how firearms are bad, and only bad people use them... etc.
I mean if you don't teach your kids (or even adults) about this stuff, they end up not knowing what to do with them. That's the biggest issue in the US today, no one knows what to do, so they end up running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.
@Kylef7735 im from New York and my whole family reunion revolves around skeet and target practice. Also fishing. Then we have a game diner. Its not all cement up hear. ever hear of the Adirondacks? it can fit the five biggest parks from out west in its bounderies, and then some. You obviosly have never been up North. NYC is .oo1 percent of owr land mass. The rest is country side. = )
@Kylef7735 there are firearm safety classes here and there (not common at all). Actually its kinda looked down upon because some parents dont want their kids know what the hell a gun is. Its the same with drugs and alcohol. Some parents are overprotective like that. There is also a video of a guy doing a gun safety course in a school and the gun was loaded. it was supposed to be unloaded. he accidentally shot himself (nothing major, i think in the leg)
@thisishellagay Guns are just like everything else (Sex, drugs, alcohol) if all you ever tell them is "No" all they will ever think is "yes" You have to let them find out about it, with tons of supervision.
And that D.E.A. agent was an idiot, he cleared the gun the wrong way, he racked the slide, then dropped the magazine, he should have done it in reverse.
@Kylef7735 yankee trust me i live in the north and i was taught safe gun control when i was young the only reason stufff like this because of the liberal media teaching people to hide there guns from there kids if u teach a child at a young age what to do when they find a firearm they wont hurt people its just idiots tht have the inability to handle there own guns and then there children do something stupid
I started making and shooting air rifles when I was 11... I wonder what those parents would say to that
I just dont get it.. why do they pick it up and 2 sec after throw it away... its kinda silly if they were shown guns and thought not to touch them before
I know I'd pick it up... but I'd rather unload it and disable it before throwing away just in case someone else picks it up and tries to shoot.
my little brother is ten and owns his own 12 GA and shoots slugs...not braging but people dont know what or how to handle a gun(most people) but EVERYONE should be introduced to a gun a t a early age(thats my opinion)
take your kid shooting the biggest thing about a gun to a kid is the mystery factor once you take them shooting they respect them and they know what they can do thats how it was with me and my dad and my brother was the same way so was my step brother once they figure out its not all about hollywood and shooting every thing up they really dont care much about them
the "child death" statistics have been shown to be VERY flawed and in some cases just plain lies as people 19 and under were considered in these statictics INCLUDING gang shooting...yay go ahead and believe the bullshit.. but 2 million americans are SAVED by guns every year..and thats a true statistic
Let me see... The kids found a gun AT THE PLAYROUND, and thought it might be a toy? NO SHIT!!!!! I remember when 20/20 did a similarly flawed experiment where they put the disabled gun IN THE TOY BOX!!!!! What the fuck did they expect? How many gun owners keep their guns in those locations?
Mothers and fathers should teach there children about gun safty so if this does happen they will always know what to do and have a respect for firearms
Shooting is also a great way to bond with your kids (:
Survival of the fittest. I found my parent's guns as a kid. peaked at it... left it the hell alone. One day I mentioned it to them and they just said don't touch it. That was that. Now I'm a proud gun owner. When I have kids my sidearm will either be on my person or in a quick safe next to my long arm of choice. The quick safe will be next to my bed and both will be fully loaded ready to go.
If parents would introduce kids to guns when they were little then they wouldn't be like "LOOK!!!!!!!!A GUN!!!!!!!!!!" because it wouldn't be as exciting to them since they were already introduced to them.
Why would I keep my gun and ammo separate, if I need to pull it out for self defense at a moments notice I'm not going to do very well if I take a couple more seconds to load my gun.
At thier age I would have picked it up and cleared it. So one of the stupid kids could'nt hurt anyone with it. I started shooting at 4 and was taught a lot by my parents. These kids need the Eddie Eagle program ASAP....
this just proves that us gun owners should know where they're guns are,and make sure they are in a safe location.
kids can be around guns,i was around shotguns all my life,i handled them all the time, but in a safe manner, teaching firearm safety to children in school is very important(and not an anti gun version of safety, have NRA certified instructors come to schools and teach firearm safety)
While the kids' performance was near satisfactory, it seems a few areas still need the Eddie Eagle program: Stop, don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult.
Parents need to be more responsible, kids will lie.
As far as keeping a gun unloaded... I can guaranty most law enforcement personnel keep a loaded gun even with children in the house, also there are lines of nice quick opening safes specifically for handguns. Those are much better than any child safety lock that a 10 year old could compromise.
i say parents should do what mine did; teach their kids about guns and how dangerous they are. ive known how dangerous they are and how to handle them since i was a little kid
yes i agree with ya we should teach them about guns, but weapons been around since we been living in caves and we been showing them giving and leting them use them since for ever we cant stop it weapons are apart of human life and so is death
Absolutely if your raised around firearms and have arespect for the damage that can be caused when using one, you act appropriately when handling one. Lack of education is not the answer in any circumstance.
My kids learn to shoot at 3. My 10 year knows if he is with other kids and find a gun he knows to pick it up always pointing down drop the magizine and rack it to open the slide. Then find help.. when i say yankee
i mean a real yankee
like my cousin from new jersey
if they saw a gun they wouldnt know what to do with it
and they are 12 and 14
you are not a yankee
my definition of a yankee is "a person who is normally from the northern half of the united states, and does not the proper way to be an american"
you do not fit that definition
Kylef7735 2 years ago
i belive the term you are looking for kyle, is retard
not just northern tards

@Kylef7735

There is also a video of a guy doing a gun safety course in a school and the gun was loaded. it was supposed to be unloaded. he accidentally shot himself (nothing major, i think in the leg)
thisishellagay 1 year ago
@thisishellagay Guns are just like everything else (Sex, drugs, alcohol) if all you ever tell them is "No" all they will ever think is "yes" You have to let them find out about it, with tons of supervision.
And that D.E.A. agent was an idiot, he cleared the gun the wrong way, he racked the slide, then dropped the magazine, he should have done it in reverse.
Kylef7735 1 year ago
@thisishellagay lol what an idiot maybe the istructor should get classes

futuresolider96 1 year ago
@Kylef7735 firearm saftey classes? sound like (j)R.O.T.C.
it may not be avalible at your school but the high schools were i live have them
stfuimpaul 7 months ago
@Kylef7735 yankee trust me i live in the north and i was taught safe gun control when i was young the only reason stufff like this because of the liberal media teaching people to hide there guns from there kids if u teach a child at a young age what to do when they find a firearm they wont hurt people its just idiots tht have the inability to handle there own guns and then there children do something stupid

im 16 and if i saw that glock 23 0n the ground i would have taken it and kept it,but i know how to handle um
lanceglock45 2 years ago
I started making and shooting air rifles when I was 11... I wonder what those parents would say to that
I just dont get it.. why do they pick it up and 2 sec after throw it away... its kinda silly if they were shown guns and thought not to touch them before
I know I'd pick it up... but I'd rather unload it and disable it before throwing away just in case someone else picks it up and tries to shoot.
especially if there are 6yrolds in the area lol

my little brother is ten and owns his own 12 GA and shoots slugs...not braging but people dont know what or how to handle a gun(most people) but EVERYONE should be introduced to a gun a t a early age(thats my opinion)

take your kid shooting the biggest thing about a gun to a kid is the mystery factor once you take them shooting they respect them and they know what they can do thats how it was with me and my dad and my brother was the same way so was my step brother once they figure out its not all about hollywood and shooting every thing up they really dont care much about them

the "child death" statistics have been shown to be VERY flawed and in some cases just plain lies as people 19 and under were considered in these statictics INCLUDING gang shooting...yay go ahead and believe the bullshit.. but 2 million americans are SAVED by guns every year..and thats a true statistic
dan16802 2 years ago 3
Let me see... The kids found a gun AT THE PLAYROUND, and thought it might be a toy? NO SHIT!!!!! I remember when 20/20 did a similarly flawed experiment where they put the disabled gun IN THE TOY BOX!!!!! What the fuck did they expect? How many gun owners keep their guns in those locations?
Magman454 2 years ago 2
Not flawed...bad guys dump guns pretty much anywhere, and playgrounds are no exception.
The experiment was to find out what the kids would do if they found a gun in an unexpected location.

My daughter is 2. I started shooting when I was 4. These children look to be 6 or older.
My child will know a gun in a strange place like that. Was probably used for a criminal purpose.
So as Eddie says Stop, don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult.
But if she needs to she will know how to drop the box magazine. And pull the slide to the rear.
Also kick the stupid kid in the teeth who wants to play with it.
Guns are just tools. And tool use is an art if you are a mechanic like me.
DobermansRock 2 years ago 2
If parents would introduce kids to guns when they were little then they wouldn't be like "LOOK!!!!!!!!A GUN!!!!!!!!!!" because it wouldn't be as exciting to them since they were already introduced to them.

my kid has been shooting scince he was 6 yrs and he hasn't shot anyone how do you explain that...
jamey123456789 3 years ago 2
Most if not all of the accidents you've cited could have been prevented if the children had been taught proper handling of firearms.
We don't need better laws. What we needed is better teaching!
Brotoi 3 years ago 2
Keep a handle on your firearms. Know where your kids play. Most importantly teach your kids gun safety and what to do if they find one.
It on you mom and dad to raise your children right.
I own guns and I have kids and I KNOW my children are safe.... are yours?
totlich 3 years ago 17
Why would I keep my gun and ammo separate, if I need to pull it out for self defense at a moments notice I'm not going to do very well if I take a couple more seconds to load my gun.
Unclesamslair 3 years ago
At thier age I would have picked it up and cleared it. So one of the stupid kids could'nt hurt anyone with it. I started shooting at 4 and was taught a lot by my parents. These kids need the Eddie Eagle program ASAP....

i found a gun in my broken dishwasher it had three bullets in it was a 9mm pistol it is really rust but it stills fires
mmoh2k8 3 years ago
this is not an excuse for gun control.
this just proves that us gun owners should know where they're guns are,and make sure they are in a safe location.
kids can be around guns,i was around shotguns all my life,i handled them all the time, but in a safe manner, teaching firearm safety to children in school is very important(and not an anti gun version of safety, have NRA certified instructors come to schools and teach firearm safety)
an armed society is a polite society.
words to live by.

While the kids' performance was near satisfactory, it seems a few areas still need the Eddie Eagle program: Stop, don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult.

A very interesting test, and very enlightening.
Also, a fairly balanced and accurate gun story from a MSM media outlet. Thank you!
lildobe 3 years ago
Parents need to be more responsible, kids will lie.
As far as keeping a gun unloaded... I can guaranty most law enforcement personnel keep a loaded gun even with children in the house, also there are lines of nice quick opening safes specifically for handguns. Those are much better than any child safety lock that a 10 year old could compromise.

i say parents should do what mine did; teach their kids about guns and how dangerous they are. ive known how dangerous they are and how to handle them since i was a little kid

yes i agree with ya we should teach them about guns, but weapons been around since we been living in caves and we been showing them giving and leting them use them since for ever we cant stop it weapons are apart of human life and so is death
love1617love 3 years ago 3
Absolutely if your raised around firearms and have arespect for the damage that can be caused when using one, you act appropriately when handling one. Lack of education is not the answer in any circumstance.
Nevo1665 3 years ago 2
that was smart when she said dont touch it
Frank7112 3 years ago
They need to do that test in a place like NYC where it's almost impossible to get a legal gun to teach kid with.
