@coolpopcornful Rudy is Jamaican slang for like a skinhead (original, NOT Nazi) or someone like that. They are known for being rowdy and causing trouble. That's what this song is about.

@Deanbass77 Rudy is slang for gangster, JA is an extremely violent country with shooting deaths occurring all the time (even Bob Marley was shot) and in the 60's it was really bad so the government asked musicians to write songs deterring violence. This song is about throwing your life away in jail if you don't wise up and change your ways. There is no Jamaican slang for Skinhead, in Jamaica their is more songs about skinheads than there is about rudies. Search Skinhead Reggae.

@TheTrecoollover forgive me if i'm mistaken, but i think its not to one specific individual as such but just generally the "Rude Boys" (and girls) getting into trouble and crime etc so kinda like just telling them to straighten up and think of your future etc before you mess it up...
