  • Petro1986, your tutorial was helpful. I don't do animation. I am trying studio photography instead of outdoor and Macro. I thought your animation was cool. But I just had to say, and I am seriously not trying to be offensive, this video is really funny. The cursor looks like it is the one talking and dancing around the screen. If you are into animation, I think you should redo this video, animate that cursor, maybe add an original score, but leave your dialog. It is funny too.

  • your mouse makes me drowsy...

  • isn't having a high f/stop = wide DOF?

  • You should be more consice, less rambling, talk better, be more informative, seriously, it woud greatly improve the quality of the video. I could not watch the whole video, just something to take into consideration.

  • it's an informative video but that mouse movements stop me watching it....

  • Good stuff, thanks for posting.

  • Sorry I only made it to 6:02 before lapsing into a coma

  • this is like every teacher i ever had.

  • Couldnt you just raise your shutter speed to close out the ambient light from the window.. After all Shutterspeed controls ambient light and aperature is your flash..

  • Your mouse cursor looks like a fly. Its really annoying.

  • 5:21 and my interest in lighting is starting to lag.... I'm guessing I only made it this far cos I was momentarily hypnotised by the frenetic cursor and tone of voice LOL

  • I made it to 6:03 minutes.... so I reckon I got the furthest......no?

  • 9 minutes to convey 2 minutes worth of substance.

  • Seriously with the mouse !

I thought it was a bee flying around. It's so annoying and takes away from the video. I had to stop half way through since the mouse frenzy was killing me.

  • It's annoying to see that cursor darting around so much.

  • im a noob. can you explain why you upped the contrast at the end? I thought the fill light is used to soften the shadows yet upping contrast counters thats effect or what?

  • Thanks for taking the time to put that together, Petro. Very useful.

  • woa, you speak a bit like John Malkovich, just a bit

  • or from stoke...

  • Great tips

  • interesting thx mate

  • have you bothered to look in a mirror?

  • I +1'd ya but you still have a negative. It's not that your comment was "that" funny but his "retort" was probably the lamest I've heard since I was maybe like, 5 years old...

  • Ha! I've just read it. Brilliant. Nice work Petro

  • I know, I was able to take it for two minutes and paused the video. I started reading the comments so I'd get an idea of what's in the video, lol. Though I wanted to know, I could not take it anymore.

  • why do you move your mouse around so much???

  • oh, wasn't it a butterfly?

  • XD You don't seem to know enough to be posting tutorials. Try watching some.

  • Pull the video camera back so we can actually see the lights too. Seeing the setup and the light changes on the subject are more beneficial than just the subject alone

  • hi do you know of anywhere that i could find decent studio lighting for under £100

  • eBay, one seller that I think is good would be 1stopphotoshop as they sell lots of different stuff... They use energy saving bulb's but they are at the right colour temperature...

Another (even cheaper) choice would be to buy halogen work lights as they use the same bulb's and are allot cheaper than high end studio lights.

But if you are only lighting for models, then just use desk lamps and modify them to what you really want ;D

  • @MarkRitchie1990 you could try imagining decent studio lights for under 100

  • the MOTH does not bother me cos its attracted to light ,,,,,,,,,,,is that right

  • thanks for the vid. great tips. but yeah cursor got me anGRY!!! well not really angry but a lil annoying...

  • Thanks for the video! Great voice and some good information. I thought a couple of points towards the end were a bit confusing, about what the manual settings should actually be, and also the circling with the cursor got a bit annoying at times.

But thanks! Hope to see more.

  • Thank you for the tutorial.

  • Hi, thanks for posting the tutorial. I'm trying to learn how to setup the three point lighting for some plants that I will shoot a time lapse of. It gives me some ideas and the point about the color balance changing makes me want to review the camera manual and see if I can control it too.

    Take care, ML

  • Good tutorial, Please increase the volume of your video!

  • Sound or the prolific nature?

  • I mean sound

  • I think you've just got bad hearing xP

  • Found that very interesting and gives me ideas for some future projects.
