So he made contact with Sela and leaked the Intel to him.

Jonathan's concern was for protecting Jewish lives and ensuring the safety of Israel. Had America honored its agreements with Israel, the information that Jonathan acquired would have already been made available to Israel. He saw that this was not happening, so he took action.
America has always played a double game with Israel - saying nice things in public, but undermining Israel in private deals with their true allies, the Muslims.

@BobMartin5613 that is absolutely not true. Jonathan Pollard only started saying that AFTER he was arrested. He first attempted to spy for south africa, brazil and some other nation. He did not try to save Israel - he was just a lying spy and a terrible person who wanted money and cocaine. Don't just take my word for it though, look it up. He was a compulsive liar, a drug user and a thief. A terrible person all around.

Israel did the right thing to leave him in the cold - he would have just turned his back on them as well when he found a higher bidder for his dirty work. don't turn this into some religious "chosen people" propaganda. @BobMartin5613 No country is entitled to our foreign intelligence. The U.S. has always helped Israel through foreign aid and military weaponry ever since Israel's founding as a state. Not to mention looking the other way when most people believe Israel unlawfully has nuclear weapons. The U.S. has always been THE LARGEST supporter of Israel. To claim anything different is ridiculous.

But America was sandbagging intel vital to Israel, so Pollard was only doing his job - and he exposed US treachery.
America opposed the creation of Israel, didn't supply any help, and "aid" today isn't what you claim.

I've spend many years studying the creation of Israel as a state. My family is Jewish so I felt the need to understand the conflicts surrounding Israel.
If you had ever been to the U.S. before you'd realize the majority of Americans stand behind Israel.

America has never helped Israel in any meaningful way. America helps itself, uses people and institutions to further its objectives. Since 1933, America has grown increasingly involved with Muslim petrochemical empires. Today, America is the enforcer of Muslim doctrine. Sounds like you've already submitted.

So you're welcome for that. And the US has given more foreign aid to Israel than any other country for 30 years. Plus more!

@AdultsSwim1 There's a lot more to this "aid" than you seem to understand, but I don't have time to answer every question or counter every crazy unsubstantiated-by-facts statement that those who want to see us go the way of the Dodo bird comes up with.
US "aid" is less than 5% of Israel's GDP - roughly equivalent to the amount of money that comes from tourism.
If Amerika were to pay fair market value for use of our sea and air ports, the cost would be 10 times the figure you quote as "aid".

I agree it was dumb holding back some info, but that doesn't give Israel the right to say, "this is mine and I'm going to take it". I've even heard claims that some of the information stolen was shared with other governments.I don't know if this is true, but it would be a disturbing betrayal of trust if true

@BobMartin5613 As for an Arab state, I absolutely support Israel's right to secure itself from foreign threats, but the fact that they have built settlements on and across the disputed border in the West Bank doesn't help. I constantly prey for peace in the ME. I support a continued push for an Arab state because what's happening now clearly is not working and it's just making people even more angry. But I am not blind to the possibility that they may try to attack Israel again in the future
