The release of this work in playform in 1899 ten years after written, restrarted the women's sufferage movement in the U.K. and U.S. It was Nora's speech at the end that sent thousands of women into the streets demanding the vote. In Germany she was allowed to leave him, so shocking was the idea. But everywhere else she did. Superhartline
I always imagined Nora to have a less deep voice, and Helmer to look different somehow. It might be that he looks too smart here. Also, I don't think Nora would ever carry all those boxes by herself.
this goes for any one- the scene when nora and krogstad talk, does any one know any music that would fit that scene. ( example - the grinch mucic) that describes krogstad
Thanks to good directing of Patric Garland and good acting of Claire Bloom I search further and read all dramas of Henrik Ibsen. Best regarads to everyone who likes Henric Ibsen , Patric Garland, Claire Bloom.....
and then and he remained to watch. Then my mother entered also and she saw us how we standing and watching and soon all three were standing and watching because we didn't have intent to see it at all till the end and thought that we're gonna watch only few minutes but we remained whole film !
Patric Garlnad is directed Doll's house brilliantly ! This verse of Doll's house is the best ! I never gonna forget that situation when I saw it for the first time some 10 years ago. I and my parents were workiing in garden and I enter in house to take something and I look at TV on which this was on. I stopped for a second to see how some situation will end and next and next and then my father entered in house and he saw me how I standing and waching TV so and he throw a glance what I look
does ANYONE know where I can find the rest of this version on youtube?!?!?! im desperate to rewatch it cos im performing it for a drama grade - am doing the scene in Act 1 between Nora and Krogstad - PLEASE HELP!!!!
Money!!!!!! Alls I have to say is dont be lazy read the play. Ibsens original play is the best. Im not saying the move is bad but its not Ibsens a doles house.
I wholly agree with this statement. Henrik Ibsen's work carries so much meaning and subtlety that it's not fully portrayed in the movie as when you can read it for yourself.
@nswick1 exactly ,i read it and the characters just feel different, i mean nora sounds a lil bit like a child in the play , it feels as if she should have a high pitched kind of voice , and torvald sounds like an immature prince, specially at the end
in his biography it says he used to be in love with the actress when he was younger and then he actually got a part in a movie with her (though by that time he was well past his teenage crush)
i kno this movie cracks me up too. what about that stupid chirping noise nora makes? lol. and the doctor has some funny lines, he even reminds me of House with his witty remarks
*cracks up so hard whenever Nora begs for money* Ohhhh, that was a stroke of sheer genius. The scene was quite marvelously acted, I must say-- on both their parts, and I love the atmosphere set by the director! 5'd and fav'd, for sure!
I'm currently studying this for my leaving cert. DTING INSIDE EVEYTIME I THINK ABOUT IT :(
