Yes Dave Mancini is the drummer. He only did part of this tour though and was replaced by Gregg Bissonette brother of the bass player in this video. Mancini is a monster player but I really like what Gregg brought to the table. With Matt and Ron Pedley that was a friggin killer rhythm section. I saw them 3 times! Oh and I agree that Mancini had to be heavily influenced by Gadd!!
Is that his name....hmmm. Never knew. We always referred to him as the crazy drummer who looked like he was either coked up or getting pleasured under the drum stand there. Or both. Lotta energy.
The quality video is not good, but enough to admire those great musicians. Thank you very much.
The end of the drummer solo, when he gives the entrance to the band, is fabulous (27 years ago). The drummer style remember me some of Steve Gadd, I didn't undestand his name, do you know it please?
Otherwise, do you know if it is possible to buy this video?
Ok, if they have this show, where is the Weather Report clip? It was the same venue, year and same date probably.

This is Dave Mancini on drums.

Wow, he's playing a 4-valve flugelhorn. Shades of Don Ellis! So Erskine is NOT on drums?

I forgot to write, the drummer is Dave Mancini. He's also an important teacher and composer.
