  • The reason it says "Solid State" is because that was the big buzz word back then. Just like "Digital" was the big buzz word in 90s audio products. In the late 60s, early 70s, integrated circuits (chips) were just starting to show up in consumer electronics, and "Solid State" was a big selling point. If a device had even one chip, they pimped it as "Solid State-The technology of the FUTURE!".

  • my blender was doing fine until yesterday when i leaked the smoothie all over the damn thing. i cleaned out the parts, dried them, but now i'm getting some serious arcing and extra grinding noise. This might be a stupid question but do i need to grease the commutator and brushes, or clean them with alcohol?

  • You need to clean them. Also, make sure the brushes travel smoothly in their holders. Sometimes they get stuck and don't have enough pressure against the commutator.

  • as it turns out, i forgot to reattach a plate that keeps the commutator from wobbling. oiled it, put it back on, good as new (plus a smell from the burning lubricant)

  • Whoa, not only do you get the show of blending, but it gets better when the lights are off!

  • In these is always the case. I have a blender but the Hamilton Beach is 15 years old and has a very bad brushes.

  • I worked as a Commercial Repair Operator for Waring for three years. Those brushes you will not be able to get. It looks to me (without actually seeing the brushes) that the commutator needs to be cleaned with a commutator cleaning stick. The brushes are probably fine. I used to get units in that sparked worse than that and the brushes were fine. There is probably some sort of spillage issue on the commutator.

  • Sweet blender though!

  • Oh shit, that motor's FUBAR! I've never seen a motor at that size spark like that. The only moros I've seem a little sparks are the old electric drills, and dirt devil shot vacuumes.

  • I took it apart, and the commutator still looks ok. Problem is, I don't know where to find brushes for it.

  • thars is spost to be arcing at the brushs

but a tiny line of it going up and down the brush face do to the cennetion not big flashs like that

  • thay do that becose the energied brushs is getting connetion to a other point witch is

armacher.this is the same reason why the top of the connetor

pole touching the energied power grid on a

bumper car in a bumper car ride booth arcs and it just on univeral brush moter sense thay draw out more volts incuding apms then any other moter and the reason why it has it own cooling fan.

  • Umm Scary

  • cool old blender
