@MillieeH4 its a reworkimg of a 1981 song that didnt go anywhere due to them thinking it sounded too much like Enola Gay?.... great reworking though, and welcome back OMD!
They have to release New Babies as their next single. It's the best potential hit they have made in ages and a fucking ace song. I think this is a bit a little bit too weak as a single, no offense. Do second singles do better than a first release..?...we'll have to wait and see.
I think this sounds very generic compared to their earlier poppier but darker work. I think they need to take a step back and examine what made that body of work so special. I suspect it was the very limitations both musically and technologically which made the sound so oddly dark and romantic - the real OMD fans want that not a remould of "If You Leave" etc. - I think "Walking on the Milky Way" got closest to this spirit and I guess that is purposeful as it is a song about retrospection.
Yes good track quote from Wikipedia "A free download demo track taken from the album called "Sister Marie Says"[3] was released on 25 November 2009[4]. Elements of the song were originally composed in 1981 and a reworked version of the track was due to appear on the 1996 album Universal but got shelved because it sounded too much like early OMD and was out of step with the more reflective tone of Universal. "
Yes, there is a resemblence to the Universal stuff, old style OMD I can only find with a lot of imagination, maybe Enola Gay melodywise. But - I like it, can't wait for the album, the DVD with RLPO is brilliant, the A&M Tour was fantastic. Compared to all of those Casting Shows, OMD could pee in a tin and I would still prefer it.
i cant under stand how this could be old hat as most of the 60s 70s and partly 80s
scene broke new ground musically where as today 90s and the dreadful noughties make music that was done 30 years ago they cant write or establish music melody apart from the very few like perhaps coldplay etc...
Id rather listen to omd to be honest legends in this field and a welcome return to form with this pre-single which is probably their best since pandoras box and anyway laroux rips off erasure and kraftwerk bulletproof is breathof life by erasure
Great song! Similiar to former songs of OMD but fresh and new on the other side. Like it very much!

If I hadn't known this song is from 2010, I'd swear I was listening to a song from the 80's. Great!

I like the this song overall; but don't care for the religious theme.

@GManGT why not? I don't understand why people are so prejudiced towards religious themes in music.

Me encanta esta canción y tengo que conseguir el disco, como todos los que han lanzado, y, en casa los tengo...en un altar

Huge OMD fan but come on, these chords have been played to death.
It's good but it's been done to death.
The main riff is like Enola Gay but played back to front.
"Sister Mary" doesnt sound as good as Joan of Arc, I wanted to learn about Joan via omd but Sister Mary sounds kinda boring.
OMD need to work with other people.
I would rather listen to LaRoux.
JonCantspell 2 years ago
I do believe this song was originally made around the same time but was deemed too similar, so its expected to sound this way i guess.
curedtc4 2 years ago 2
I know that but they should have left it in the past as it isnt very good compared to Enola Gay etc etc..

beamergeezer 2 years ago 10
@beamergeezer ... not all of them ... its mixed, some sounds like the good years of OMD, like the early 80s,
some soundes modern, but not bad
and some of the songs ...
RheingoldxxL 1 year ago
this song by omd is rather like one of their earlier creations, very melodic and tuneful.
