@rikuzxbf You can gesso masonite hardboard in any sixe (or shape) and use it like a canvas panel. It differs that it is a smooth surface (after you sand the gesso coats) which can give you finer details and smoother gradations... although neither of those features are evident in this work... as this painting was sized to fit a frame I had and it was faster to saw out and gesso a piece of masonite than to build custom stetcher bars. I hope this helps. thanks for watching. gg
Thanks, but try it... think you will find enough color in these six to achieve quite a bit and then some. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
:D I'm 15 doing a GCSE in fine art and I've only started getting to grips with painting. I seem to have a good nack for it seeing as I've never painted before but I need practice and inspiration. Thanks for replying :)
There are some excellent true TUTORIALS here on youtube: one is jimmy3dd and the other is canvasdoor. Both give some excellent pointers... my videos just show how i get from blank canvas to finish with a little explaination of brushes/techniques. Thanks again for watching.
I wish I could give it 10 more stars. This is fantastic. I love the Cudjoe Key recording (as you know) and the heart felt story surrounding it. Your art is amazing because it comes from the soul and not just from your (very) skilled hands.
Thank you! That melody was written in memory of a college friend and recorded in my computer in 2003. It's title is "Cudjoe Key" (one of the Florida keys east of Key West) and will always have a dear place in my heart as does the memory of my friend. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
Hi... Thanks for watching. My camera shots 1/2 second every 30seconds (1sec = 1 minute), so looks to be about 1 hour 50 minutes approx. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Spanky... there was a time in my long life that I painted entire sets for children's plays in one day, now I am enjoying the pleasures of experimenting and painting ONLY when and what i want to paint.... Thanks for watching!
Thank you Ramona... that was a pretty fair representation of the sunrise here Sunday morning. Forecast was for rain, but rained only a little... made for a pretty sunrise though! Thanks for watching!
Thanks... it was fun to do. I need to lighten my plein aire load, that's the purpose of the experiment. The "Hawaiian" shirt is probably as close as I will ever get to Hawaii... LOL!! Thanks for watching!!
Thanks! I like this set of colors as it yeilds a very nice spectrum for fall and winter shades,,, and has a very "classical" color feel to it.
I have lost the audio tracks to several of my videos due to copyright infringement claims, even though i have followed the rules of use, and promoted the music and where to buy it. So will stick to only my own works. I may start a music channel, but i will need a new studio for that with more room and better acoustic properties. Thanks for watching.
I have tried that combination, but could not get any good reds or browns, which I use a lot of, but they do have a GREAT relationship for certain paintings under certain conditions. Thanks for thge suggestion, and thanks for watching.
Thank you, I have been experimenting with these on small 5x7 canvases. and needed to see if I could get similar colors and effects on a larger piece under plein aire conditions. Thanks for watching.
Well that looks easy peasy. I'm off to bash out a couple for myself. I think not. Whatever I try is just total rubbish.
Wonderful painting, great talent.

I was wondering how you use Gessied Masonite boards. Are you supposed to use them like regular canvas boards? And What's the difference?

hi. what is the benefit of base coating with gesso and do you use any to help in blending or anything to retard drying time?
thenx for putting up your "work"

Very successful experiment I'd say! Always interesting to restrict the range of colour.
Love that shirt BTW!!

I know that it can be done but I'm always amazed about the sheer spectrum you can achieve with just six colors. Very vibrant painting.
Loved the music as well. Goes very well with this. Any chance on a music channel from you?
