Why see something that you can see on holiday or if your lucky during a certain time of year where you live. However without them being in captivity I can't help but think that we wouldn't know as much about them, but I would prefer to see an animal in its natural habbitat rather then a tank/cage.

@299vasilis Orcas actually do kill just because they can. I've heard that among humans they´re one of the only species that kill not just for food. See videos for example where they kill a baby gray whale just for the meat in its jaws and tongue. And also there has been cases of cannibalism among orcas. But nonetheless they truly are amazing mammals, and their intelligence, beauty and mysteriousness makes them so mesmerizing. They're my favorite animals. :)
@Natheyja I don't know of any carnivorous animals that are not willing to be cannibalistic. I had a cat that devoured her own kittens once. The vet said that they can detect flaws with their smell, detecting something that just isn't right and deciding that it doesn't want to risk the diminished food supply for them to survive. (or something like that). But, not the point. The point is: all animals that eat meat, if hungry enough or given the opportunity, will cannibalize. Even humans.

What these Orcas have seemingly learned in South America to get to shore and to the ocean, there are ocean going channels there near shore. Though they twist and turn, they have the deep drop offs just behind them after they grab a seal. They follow mainly those channels. These orcas pass that on from generation to generation. Their young aren't born to hunt, they are taught.

are you serous?!!first of all, orcas are predators! they ave to do that in order to maintain their existance! secondly, orcas are a lot better than humans! they kill ONLY when they need to feed,and they do not fight their own species! come on! think of what a child would think for these animals if he/she sees this video! you are pathetic

@299vasilis Orcas actually do kill just because they can. I've heard that among humans they´re one of the only species that kill not just for food. See videos for example where they kill a baby gray whale just for the meat in its jaws and tongue. And also there has been cases of cannibalism among orcas. But nonetheless they truly are amazing mammals, and their intelligence, beauty and mysteriousness makes them so mesmerizing. They're my favorite animals. :)

@Natheyja I don't know of any carnivorous animals that are not willing to be cannibalistic. I had a cat that devoured her own kittens once. The vet said that they can detect flaws with their smell, detecting something that just isn't right and deciding that it doesn't want to risk the diminished food supply for them to survive. (or something like that). But, not the point. The point is: all animals that eat meat, if hungry enough or given the opportunity, will cannibalize. Even humans.

@Sk8rRdHd that's true. But not all animals have as close family relationships like orcas for example. :) And those records about orcas cannibalizing is believed to be due to lack of food. If there is a sick pod member I think that they would do anything to help that member instead of devouring it. Maybe that happens with other animals I don´t know.

What these Orcas have seemingly learned in South America to get to shore and to the ocean, there are ocean going channels there near shore. Though they twist and turn, they have the deep drop offs just behind them after they grab a seal. They follow mainly those channels. These orcas pass that on from generation to generation. Their young aren't born to hunt, they are taught.

I hate how they make Orcas out to be so aggressive, we are no better, we are WORSE. They are intelligent, social creatures just like us. They are possibly almost as intelligent as us. They have their own languages and cultures, their lives are complicated. They make them out to be these unthinking killers. They are intelligent, highly sophisticated mammals, not goldfish. Yes it seems that the smarter you are, the more you are likely to torture the prey, playing with it etc. We can't say anything

This is a practice that is only done by few Orca in certain areas. This video is very misleading and the wroding of the announcer is purposfully spoken like that 4 shock value. In the animal kingdom there is such a thing as the food chain and the only ones messing it up or truly being cruel r humans. Seals r also predetors and so on. Animals dont have the luxury of cooking b-4 eating, duh!

In fact, scientists are thinking on raising the status of dolphins to "non-human persons" because they have every trait that a philosopher would consider a typical person. If you do even the smallest research on them, you would know that they are more than meets the eye.

@PrinceBloody I mean more of a human's misunderstanding of animals. We are too vain to recognize their uniqueness as well as our similarities to other animal species. Scientists all agree that we are extremely similar to animals and even call animals our "relatives". It is BECAUSE we are animals that we know as much about ourselves as we do now as well as obtained/created the medicine we have now. Plus we ARE a part of the animal kingdom. We are only one of the many species of animals out there.

Instead we destroy it. We deplete all of the world's resources for our own gain, and then we finally realize that we are destroying our own home and habitat. @Carrossea I am not saying everyone is like that, but if you look at the our course of history, you can see what I mean. Also, an animal as intelligent as an orca whale has come to learn to live in peace with the rest of the world. In fact, they can easily kill a human in wild if they wanted to, but there have never been a reported case of an orca killing a human in the wild, even when humans on small boats come into their territory.
